Wishing her the very best of luck. twitter.com/MForstater/status/1402310977115279362?s=20

I'll be absolutely gutted if the original decision isn't overturned, but at least her case has let a lot of sunlight in.

The whole of the Feminism board was like a spectre hanging over the daily trans discourse

Well I suppose if you obsess over anyone disagreeing with you or even discussing your claims, and find that an unbearable "spectre", that must be hard. But disagreement and debate are a feature of non-totalitarian life.

How does Joss think feminists, academics, politicians etc cope?

ArabellaScott · 14/06/2021 14:09

A spectre?

Not so much, specially not since lockdown.

What did I say? I don't think I was rude. Some peeps don't like any allusion to reality that is not in line with with pravda patrol, I suspect.

ScreamingMeMe · 14/06/2021 15:49

A spectre at the feast?

Cailleach1 · 14/06/2021 15:55

No, I didn't say anything of the sort.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 14/06/2021 15:55

Joss Prior's latest schtick is that Gender Critical people should be reported to their employers, just in case we harrass trans people

So….just to make sure I’ve got this right

Joss Prior is going to contact the employers of everyone that believes that you physically cannot change sex

Well thats the NHS fucked

ArabellaScott · 14/06/2021 15:56

Yes, that's going to be quite a big project, isn't it Rufus?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 14/06/2021 16:03

Massive project huuuuuuge

They won’t have time for a shit

ArabellaScott · 14/06/2021 16:06

Best get cracking, eh?! Those witches won't report themselves!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/06/2021 16:06

Is JP going to report GC trans people in case they harass themselves?

TheElementsSong · 14/06/2021 16:10

There goes the Faculty of Biological Sciences.

ArabellaScott · 14/06/2021 16:11

No doubt. This is pre-emptive reporting, too, so best report everyone just on the off-chance they one day commit a thought crime. So we know and can take measures to avoid that.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/06/2021 16:15

I am sure Joss would not be so unwise to attempt to target a whole group of people on the basis that they hold a protected belief under the EA. That might place some firms at risk of appearing to discriminate against people due to protected beliefs should they exercise specific scrutiny of that group.

1967 called, it's the Stasi on the line...

StellaAndCrow · 14/06/2021 16:20

And JP is of course one of the main "monitors" of these boards, listening in on our conversations, so that he can report any "wrong speak"

Well, someone already tried it with Miranda Yardley, got as far as court, went just about as well as you'd expect!
JustcameoutGC · 14/06/2021 16:29

I am going to be reporting myself to my employers as GC. Have already made it pretty clear where my opinion sits and after Mayas ruling, it is time to ensure that others with the same view as me are free to express them, in a respectful way, in the workplace.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 14/06/2021 16:32

I'll just turn myself in now I reckon (biology teacher).

DickKerrLadies · 14/06/2021 16:38

It's been a while since I read 1984 so I may be misremembering, but aren't we supposed to report our own thoughtcrimes?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 14/06/2021 16:49

I think dick is right endo*

You’ll have to turn yourself in 😩

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 14/06/2021 16:49

Oh bum….bold fail

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/06/2021 18:45

Miranda's antagonist was erstwhile Mermaids marketing person mimmymum. She lost, big time. Detailed court reports survive and are good reading.

Oh yes:

Having heard the complainant’s evidence, the Judge stated that there was no evidence of harassment, that issues of freedom of speech enshrined in Article 10 of the ECHR were clearly engaged and that it was a case that the CPS should never have brought. Questions need to be asked as to why the CPS not only decided to prosecute Miranda Yardley in these circumstances, but were also so quick to inappropriately label it an incidence of “transgender hate crime”.

This is Helen Islan, isn't it? So far Mermaids have misgendered a non-binary person on Twitter and tried to take a trans woman to court, which was distressing for Miranda. Among other things.
