Wishing her the very best of luck. twitter.com/MForstater/status/1402310977115279362?s=20

I'll be absolutely gutted if the original decision isn't overturned, but at least her case has let a lot of sunlight in.

I'm glad the WH presenter read out the message about how WH haven't covered Maya's case!

Piccalino3 · 10/06/2021 10:54

OMG! Best news ever. So delighted that sense has finally prevailed. Well done Maya!!

BraveBananaBadge · 10/06/2021 10:55

Just had a breaking news notification from the BBC app - stranger things have happened I guess. Well done Maya!

singittome · 10/06/2021 10:55

Congratulations to Maya!! This is fantastic!!!

JeanneDoe · 10/06/2021 10:55

I have tears in my eyes. I am so so happy. What a victory for women and freedom of speech. Today is a Good Day.

IShouldBeSoLurky · 10/06/2021 10:55

Just saw someone on Twitter refer to MN as “Prosecco Stormfront” which to be fair is pretty funny.

Miljea · 10/06/2021 10:55

About bloody time. Is this the start of the turning of the tide?

ThinkWittyThoughts · 10/06/2021 10:55

Yes! I’ve also cried with relief.

Just had the BBC breaking news pop up - what a mealy mouthed article. Making it sound like the appeal won on a technicality, rather than the original judgment being a crock of shite.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 10/06/2021 10:56

Well knock me down with a feather, it's just turned up as a bbc breaking news push notification on my phone. Think of all the people getting that this morning!! ☀

I suppose, if you're racist. Someone tried to use that as their username and had to change it, for obvious reasons.
TrainedByCats · 10/06/2021 10:56

BBC news just featured it as breaking news

Same – this is usually reserved for the biggest stories of the day, so that's an interesting editorial call from the BBC.

SconesJamthenCream · 10/06/2021 10:56

So so pleased!

"over transgender tweet" ffs Angry
Try reading the many times the judge explained what the appeal was about! (not you ajl!)

WinterTrees · 10/06/2021 10:57

#IStandWithMayaForstater is trending on twitter.

So much support, and then Katie Montgomerie missing the entire point about women as a class being allowed to define and speak up for themselves and making it all about Katie Montgomerie. A groundbreaking ruling on freedom of speech, and the best counter-argument KM has got is "I'm a woman and I'm going to have a family one day. I think it's sick that anyone would want to take that from me"

langclegflavoredbananamush · 10/06/2021 10:58

Wonderful, I remember so well how gutted I was at the first ruling, (and then JK Rowling came in on her white hippogriff, what a day that was). I hope JK Rowling chimes in today, she's a big part of it too....

Yeah I’m guessing you don’t understand the meaning behind ‘Stormfront’

Was it the man who hoped we all got thrush?

Just reinforcing his misogyny

Rhannion · 10/06/2021 10:58

Sad to hear that Lisa feels she can’t go to her graduation

MaudTheInvincible · 10/06/2021 10:58

💚🤍💜 Thank you Maya! You've done something amazing for women's right to defend ourselves Thanks

Tweet from Katie Alcock and thread on whether this judgment has implications for her forthcoming case. https://twitter.com/wontsomeonethi2/status/1402926914138951684?s=20

ChloeCrocodile · 10/06/2021 10:59

what other protected characteristics might be relevant if someone doesn't qualify for gender reassignment?

Sex. If a TW failed at gaining a promotion for wearing a dress to the interview (for example) that could easily be argued as sex-based discrimination because a woman would be allowed to wear a dress with impunity.

OnlyTheLangOfTheTitberg · 10/06/2021 10:59

I am in the office for the first day in several months and I am having a little weep at my desk. My colleagues must think I’m mad.

This shouldn’t ever have been in doubt but the world is so crazy, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion. So much kudos to Maya for her strength and ovaries of steel throughout this process, and all the brave women who supported her, both financially and by raising awareness of the situation Flowers

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/06/2021 11:00

J K Rowling has re-tweeted Maya again! Wonderful woman.

I prefer "The Radicalisation Portal".

I don't think I could stomach twitter today, bound to be some real rage about

CrumpetShaw · 10/06/2021 11:01

So relieved and happy 🎉😁❤️
