The early refuges were very political. They did good, but they also made a lot of mistakes along the way. They were learning what works. We know what works now.

The one thing that doesn't work for women is the inclusion of males, that is a monumental fucking mistake so I would dial the smugness if I were you.

I know. That much is obvious. When really, if we want to donate our money to this then we will. If Posie wants advice and support then there are plenty of us who are happy to provide that. Permission to proceed is not required or necessary.

Indeed. On whose watch were males allowed into women only shelters? When this started where were all those in charge insisting that this would be horrendously detrimental to the women who use those shelters? Why were they not standing firm and invoking their right to run women only shelters for the benefit of women?

Women have been and continue to be failed by the very people who should be helping them and now someone with a high public profile has drawn attention to it and the reaction is to attack the messenger.

And I put in a tenner hoping badly for publicity.
We already have existing provisions. We require them to be single sex.
I would guess (only a guess mind) that should publicity arise and a big pushback on mixed sex provision happen and the obvious return to single sex that the money will go towards some refuges.
And if not then we have a huge chunk of change to create a single sex refuge. And whichever way it happens is fine with me.
Either way women win.

If it does then perhaps you would be happier if all white women decided to give no help whatsoever to anyone who was not white? No? Which is it then? How about women who are mixed race who have a ‘white’ parent? Or is ‘white’ Hispanic people? Or not? South African people with ‘white’ skin? We've gone from her being attention seeking, to not knowing what she's doing, acting like Katie Hopkins, ignorant of the situation and everything that's required, deliberately light on detail, being a white saviour, and doing it to attack other women in the profession. Yes it may well be helpful to some. But you didn't just wonder did you. Because if you had just wondered, then you would have asked that. Instead you misrepresented what Posie is doing, compared her to Katie Hopkins and called her a white saviour. Seems to me there's a different agenda going on with your comments rather than just wondering if the service would be attractive to Muslim women.
