They really need to channel their inner Ronan Keating.

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Stonewall just listed this twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1396374101988569091?s=09

I'm not really sure they want to be highlighting this to all of their followers? Confused

Ugh! "u ok hun?" A line straight from the Tumblr feeds of teenagers. These organisations really need to rein in the kiddies they employ to run their social media.

Do they just not get that to actual adults that tweet just reads as juvenile and ridiculous? Your organisation is getting some significant negative press in the national broadsheets and you think an appropriate response is "you're being creepy", for all the world as if you're talking about your mum coming in and telling you to tidy up your bedroom?

Christ, we desperately need grown ups to take charge of our public discourse and let's hope the EHRC letter is the start of that.

Now they've gone on the attack. We've done nothing wrong, everyone is out to get us! They don't seem to know how to do anything else...

Perhaps Stonewall's media team should have a think about Point 13 of the Reindorf report on Essex University's fiasco which recommended that social media should not be delegated to junior staff or interns.

'TIE'? An unfortunate acronym for a group focussed on children, but there you go.

I wonder when Stonewall will get round to publishing their annual accounts?

Their financial year runs to the end of September. They didn't submit their Sept 2019 accounts to the Charity Commission until the end of July last year (ie right at the statutory deadline), and those showed them running at a loss. I assume we'll have to wait until July for the Sept 2020 accounts. Will they show a (growing) loss?

The other day there was an extended retrospective interview of Ian Hislop on Radio 4. In it he mentioned how when he was being a thorn in the side of the tabloids they set out to discredit him, basically turning over his entire life, private detectives, going through bins, all that kind of thing, in what's called a monstering. He said he welcomed the scrutiny and felt it benefitted him because the more they dug and failed the discredit him, the more he felt assured in his position of being such a strong critic of the tabloids.

Stonewall could benefit from listening to that programme and learning from it.

Good of Stonewall to confirm that today there are 850 Diversity Champions. It will be very interesting to see what happens to that number over the next few months.

My guess is that Stonewall will re-structure and rebrand the scheme under another name so they can bury the falling numbers.

Are they actually on glue? Do they think that this is an appropriate, never mind adequate response?

Mind blowing. Gonna get on with reinforcing the idea that Stonewall are not fit for purpose by posting like a sixteen year old’s closing lines before slamming the door to their bedroom because GOD MUM YOURE SUCH A FUCKING KAREN.

They're playing to their puerile audience.

Just heard on Facebook that Nestle are dropping Stonewall too. I don't know how to verify that, but it would be hilarious if Nestle have too much pride in their reputation to be associated with the likes of Stonewall.

Absolutely horrible slogan.

It is. I was quite amused that EHRC used it in their letter saying they had withdrawn. Epic trolling, said my DP.

EHRC: we're cutting ties with Stonewall (between the lines - because they've been misleading organisation about equality law)

No announcements on Nestle's site but hard to know if they would want this to be a quiet thing or if somebody has the wrong end of the stick?

It's better for people to review their partnerships quietly than to make some atonement or public embrace of a redemption narrative - there are still too many countries where that wouldn't play well.

No punches being pulled there then. Nice to hear facts and accuracy in BBC reporting for a change.
