Crown Prosecution Service says We are reviewing our Stonewall membership and will shortly make a decision on whether to continue this.

This is very interesting as the last time the CPS were questioned about the impartiality of their relationship with Stonewall they very firmly told those posing the questions to go away.

But several major names on the list confirmed to this newspaper that they have left, though this was not related to the EHRC’s decision and they all stressed their commitment to inclusion and equality

Of course they said that...

@RedDogsBeg

Am I reading that right, The House of Commons has left the Stonewall Diversity scheme?

Hmm seems like Stonewall:

Giving deliberately incorrect advice on the legal duties of organisations in respect of the EQA
Not supporting organisations facing the consequences of following that advice
Rebuking the EHRC for intervening in a case about the EQA because EHRC intervened for a party that SW despise
Angrily writing an open letter to the EHRC demanding they fall in line with Stonewall, or else

is not the winning strategy Stonewall arrogantly assumed it would be.

According to the Telegraph some of them happened some time ago rather than as a consequence of recent events.

But several major names on the list confirmed to this newspaper that they have left, though this was not related to the EHRC’s decision and they all stressed their commitment to inclusion and equality.
The House of Commons said it did not renew its membership for 2020. The Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) said it exited in December, while Acas, the employment dispute service, said it had withdrawn “for cost reasons” last June.
Dorset Police, one of multiple forces previously listed as part of the scheme, said it is now not a member. The Ministry of Housing and Local Government said it left in 2019.

Stonewall aren't actually themselves lawyers, don't have a high level in-house lawyer position, and only have one lawyer (specialising in fraud, not equality law) on their board of trustees - and trustees are not involved in day to day operations.

So we ought to be scrupulously fair and point out that no doubt a huge part of the problem is that Stonewall themselves have been getting extremely poor legal advice - probably for years.

Oh the irony... organisation pushing gender identity agenda has a lawyer specializing in fraud!

I’m appalled to be compared to an anti-Semite. Disgraceful.

To be fair, by asserting that gender is everything and sex is nothing, she did pretty much call everyone who is the genetic result of male sperm fertilizing a female egg an anti-semite! Don't let her get to you.

Stonewall is completely out of control.

It really is. The claims are increasingly over the top and extreme. It's desperate. The debate is being had, more and more people are being exposed to rational GC arguments, so wild statements like this seem unhinged in comparison. Doubling down on their 'no debate' tactic seems increasingly counterproductive. Get involved in the debate Stonewall, come up with some convincing arguments, the campaign failed.

Stonewall needs to be subject to a full Public Inquiry.

If, like me, you don't usually watch the video clip at the top of articles, watch this one as for some reason the content of the clip isn't mentioned in the article.

Kelley is very clear that Stonewall does not represent all LGBT people, which I thought was interesting.

We still haven't found out why Stonewall have hidden their list of 'champions'. We still need to find out how Stonewall are coping with having to advise on FOI requests (and with poor advice I can't think it's going to be good). It just shows how allowing an unprofessional campaigning body to gain such influence was always going to turn out to be a bit of a disaster.

As a nation we have become too 'lets not cause offence' ahead of asking questions and bandwagon jumping sends reason to the back of the queue

With a bit of googling, I've found these people, who look like they should know something about the law:

www.stonewall.org.uk/people/catherine-dixon

www.stonewall.org.uk/people/mohsin-zaidi

Which makes it even worse really - surely they are either incompetent or negligent?

Only if you think they didn't know what they were doing.

Shedbuilder, from looking at their website (there's an about us page that lists trustees and the senior staff) yes. Obviously there are more junior staff that are not explicitly listed and that might include an equalities law specialist - but there's no "director of legal" or anything.

How did everybody know that the EHRC and ACAS severed the relationship? The info came from EHRC and ACAS themselves, didn't it?

Because I'm wondering if the organisations themselves don't publicise it, how will anyone know?

Are you sure? The Welsh Government has outsourced all LGB and T+ issues to Stonewall. They are effectively a branch of the Welsh government. So the fact that there isn't a specialist lawyer involved is deeply concerning. Not that the Welsh Government seems to have noticed yet.

Maybe, but part of me wonders whether they even sought legal advice - I wouldn’t be surprised if they just took it upon themselves to allow this Orwellian situation to play out in real life.
