@KimThomas

OJ has worked himself up into such a frenzy I think he’s about to go into orbit.
quickly runs to Twitter to see this in real time
EastWestWhosBest · 24/05/2021 12:25

Ooh I heard about this from the Radio 4 news but I didn’t catch what all of it was about.

LazyHorizon · 24/05/2021 13:05

OJ is always burning all his bridges with other papers and other journalists, to the point where he is effectively only employable by the Guardian. What will he do if they decide not to renew his contract?

They could cut his pay in half and he’d still have to work there. He has no other options. Unless he wants to move from journalism-activism to actual politics or something.

It’s a really odd, self-sabotaging approach to a media career.

It will be interesting to see if Stonewall encourages any company special interest committees to claim that withdrawing from the scheme indicates a hostile work environment.

I hope they do, because that's Game Set and Match to Allison Bailey

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 16:49

Interesting rebrand.

The L is being shown the door and it looks like a giant penis.

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 16:50

I also just got assaulted by balloons when I went on their twitter.

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 16:51

Oh it's their birthday.

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 16:52

Sorry my phone hates adding pictures

We're a lesbian household and we found all the NHS rainbows in the house windows in our street really disturbing. We've waved rainbow flags at Pride over the years, but that stopped sometime around 2012 when all this gender shit began to take off. Rainbows now make us tight-lipped and nervous.

I'd like to understand this better, but equally don't want content here that would tip off any companies into not doing something that in doing it would help AB!

Yes, I know the feeling.
EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 24/05/2021 17:45

Yes, I know the feeling.

Me too. My office is on the London pride march route & god it was excruciating last time it happened....

When are stonewall actually going to be taken to task for misrepresenting the law to countless organisations and trying to erode women's rights by stealth. This is their new logo launched today - the animated logo starts off looking strangely similar to the Equality & Human Rights Commission. If this isn't another misleading act of misappropriation I don't know what is - Stonewall is not the equalities watchdog. Totally unacceptable overreach yet again.

Woah.

Their marketing is looking extremely dodgy.

I want to know where the hell all the Government lawyers were while Stonewall was putting it's own gloss on equality law.

Perhaps the EHRC got external legal advice about the Alison Bailey case then suddenly thought "Oh, hang on..." when the full import of the advice became apparent?

Stonewall is finally paying the price for turning its back on gay men and lesbians
The LGBT charity has strayed far from its core purpose, alienating large numbers of people in the process

It that is the case, where the hell have they been!!??? I have been reading on here for YEARS about how institutions, schools, prisons etc are not abiding by the equalities act - starting to act as though SELF-ID had already been implemented and then failing to change when it was not implemented, if we know that on here didn't anyo3tell the people in charge that the law was being broken?
Forgotthebins · 24/05/2021 21:38

When Owen Jones ridiculously tells David Aaronovitch that DA has “no authority” to talk about bigotry, it recalls the Handforth parish council meeting and that man with the “Jackie Weaver you have no authority here” moment.

FannyCann · 24/05/2021 22:10

Aww there's a meme in that. If only I could do photo shop.

LizzieSiddal · 24/05/2021 22:22

Agree. Their approach is also very similar to the Labour Party and their Self ID support. How many times did we hear “if you don’t like it, leave”. It didn’t work for Labour and it won’t work for Stonewall.

Cleanandpress · 24/05/2021 23:42

The final straw for me was Stonewall making my employer delete the words woman and mother from the maternity policy.

Their contempt for women is off the scale.

Stonewall may have coerced/persuaded your company using wrong guidance but it's indicative of how readily companies/organisations embrace the erasure of women without considering the impact on their female workforce.
Tibtom · 25/05/2021 07:26

Not only is sex a protected characteristic but so is pregnancy and maternity.
