Jenner would have been ridiculed in interviews if any other position than this was taken. It would have been an end to political campaigning. As it happens, this "surprised on the coffee run" comment is serving Jenner rather well.

Women should be demanding follow up questions about what Jenner thinks is fair for girls and women rather than celebrating crumbs.

Finally someone making some sense. It’s the only logical stance. Science is still important.

I'm boggling at Jenner isn't trans...

Words are literal violence, we are women if we say we are, no debate - and now they're tell Jenner that they're (struggling with pronouns here, is Caitlin she?) not trans because she's done something the herd don't agree with?
So now it's we are who we say we are and you are who we say you are.
Getting out of hand now...

I am sure Jenner wishes to further a political career but that does not negate the truth of the statement. Transwomen are biologically male and have an unfair advantage when competing in female sporting events.

By their own standards, the TRAs are being extremely transphobic.

They believe that it is transphobic to disbelieve anyone's self-identified gender identity.

I saw one TRA dismissing Jenner’s athletic accomplishments by stating that “she wasn’t trans then”, which surely flies in the face of their assertion that trans is “who you truly are” and “the way you are born”.

Trans logic eats itself.

So many times we’ve been told to shut up because it should be left to trans people to discuss trans issues. Now a trans person who is by that reasoning allowed to discuss these issues is being told to shut up.

Doesn’t matter who the messenger is no debate is the only recourse .

I saw one response Helle saying Jenner is a drag queen.
I await the drag queens pointing at the trans umbrella.

When the only argument TRAs and their allies have is that there's no evidence trans girls will beat females or that the science has actually shown there's no advantage it's absolute proof that they don't care about the facts. I wonder how they would perform on a lie detector because I'm pretty sure that deep down they know they're talking shit.

Regardless of political views, Jenner can't back the TA view on sport, or Jenner would have to hand back the gold's.

Couldn't have competed as female instead when they were won - when there was no female decathlon....

It is particularly difficult for a former male athlete who competed in the decathlon, a sex specific event, to deny that sex matters in sport.

Daly Thompson stood up for girls and women in sport a long time ago.

Of course they’re all shouting about “the evidence” that transwomen/trans girls have no advantage, without being able to produce any of it.

Fortunately, plenty of people are posting the evidence of all the advantages of male physiology that are not cancelled out by hormones.

Ah yes, both Caitlyn Jenner - a gold-winning Olympian and trans woman - and JK Rowling - a woman who once struggled with her gender - are both "clueless" and totally unqualified to speak on the topic of biological males in women's sports, spaces etc.

It is. Which is why I tend to look at the evidence in peer reviewed scientific publications.

Which of course is not possible when their rights are in direct conflict with women's rights. On an individual level, yes of course leave them alone. But on a policy level, absolutely cannot do.
