Lesbian Visibility Week

ASugarr · 01/05/2021 07:39

As Lesbian Visibility Week comes to an end, I want to make a quick reminder that
ALL LESBIANS ARE VALID!

Cisgender and Transgender women can be lesbians. Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians. All Lesbians deserve visibility!

Additionally, many have stated that they don't wish to date transgender people. That's fine! Just because someone is in the same dating pool doesn't mean you MUST be attracted to them. Plus genital preference is also totally fine! But don't forget, trans women are women so please do not degrade them just because you personally don't wish to date them.

Plus, let's continue to educate one another on the important information. Like preventing STI's as a lesbian, domestic abuse in lesbian relationships and how to deal with that, safe and consentual sex between lesbians. This is what we need to be educating young lesbians and bisexual women on.

Have a fabulous long weekend all 🤍🌈

Legal definitions? Like the one for the word 'lesbian' which we arrived at on the last thread? I believe R0wantrees helpfully posted it?

transsloth · 01/05/2021 08:26

@ArabellaScott

Jellyfish!!!! Immortal jellyfish have many ways to reproduce, but can also reverse their reproductive cycle and (in theory) continue to age, un-age, endlessly!
Biology is just amazing, isn't it?
KittyValentine · 01/05/2021 08:28

@Bordois

Out of interest, is there any reason why you didn't post this on the actual LGBT topic?

Putting it in FWR could appear to some that you are trying to goad women into a bunfight, which I'm sure is not your intention...

Yes, this exactly! Yet another inflammatory, goady thread.

But as @MNQH showed in the last thread, they (MNQH) are homophobic, so I’m sure this thread will be left up.

ArabellaScott · 01/05/2021 08:28

However legally trans women are female.

How are you defining 'trans women'?

Helleofabore · 01/05/2021 08:28

I also discovered Peachy thanks to Arabella

I am posting her again.

According to the Oxford language dictionary the definition of lesbian is "a gay woman". Which trans women can be.

ASugarr, please stop referrring to women as c*s. It's offensive and unacceptable.

But don't forget, trans women are women
If by definition a transwoman is someone who was born with a male body and "became a woman" on transitioning then I'd like ASugarr to tell me what specifically makes a transwoman a woman. Please explain without using the words think, feel, or identify.

Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians.

Have you asked all of them?

ArabellaScott · 01/05/2021 08:30

No, this is legal definitions, ASugarr, if you're talking about the law.

Some women are cisgender.

Nothing wrong with being a masculine woman and I didn't say there was, did I?

FrankensteinIsTheMonster · 01/05/2021 08:32

To be fair (most) humans communicate via the modulation of expulsion of waste products, too.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 01/05/2021 08:33

Writing something on paper or putting it into law doesn't make it so
I'm glad you agree female is something males cannot be
If you really are a woman, and I believe you are, I feel incredibly sad for you and the mental hoops you jump through to deny women and centre men 😥

ASugarr · 01/05/2021 08:33

Seemed that way.

No. Women are adult human females and do not - repeat, NOT - need a prefix to delineate them.

Still waiting to learn how a transwoman becomes a woman - oh, and the phrase "the transwoman was always female" can't be included in the explanation.

ArabellaScott · 01/05/2021 08:33

Just out of interest ASugarr, who appointed you the arbiter of all of this? Are trans people all happy to have you speak on their behalf? Because so often you seem to contradict what I've heard trans people say. Would it not be better to let them speak for themselves?

I think I know how several lesbians feel having you come here and speak up on their behalf. Curious about all of the others, though.

NecessaryScene1 · 01/05/2021 08:34

However legally trans women are female.

95%+ of people who call themselves "trans women" in the UK aren't, as they don't have GRCs.

I guess you're trying to say that those without GRCs aren't really trans women.

I can see why she got the "mansplainer" thing above, but really it's "cisplaining" isn't it?

Arguing against trans people and activists who we feel have policy proposals that are harmful for women seems to me quite honourable.

Telling trans people what's good for them is just icky.

That's usually due to how hard a GRC is to get. However if that's how you depict humans as if they are Legal enough then sure. I personally don't.

Well according to the last thread OP believes

Well no one follows gender stereotypes anymore so there isn't much to it other than wanting to be called a woman and having she/her pronouns

So, no gender dysphoria needed. Nothing except a desire to be called a woman and pronouns. Is this true OP?

ArabellaScott · 01/05/2021 08:37

Peachy is fab. Be nice to celebrate lesbians here, instead of having to fend off people trying to talk over them.

NecessaryScene1 · 01/05/2021 08:37

I am a cisgender woman

Oh, right, yes, you never answer that question.

Why?

Why do you identify as a woman?

This is important.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 01/05/2021 08:37

How can a woman mansplain? Explain that to me?

Well, you're the one going on about how males can be lesbians so.... 🤷‍♀️

Fromage · 01/05/2021 08:38

Asugarr it might have seemed that way, but now I have clarified, I do hope your mind is at ease.
