Lesbian Visibility Week

As Lesbian Visibility Week comes to an end, I want to make a quick reminder that
ALL LESBIANS ARE VALID!

Cisgender and Transgender women can be lesbians. Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians. All Lesbians deserve visibility!

Additionally, many have stated that they don't wish to date transgender people. That's fine! Just because someone is in the same dating pool doesn't mean you MUST be attracted to them. Plus genital preference is also totally fine! But don't forget, trans women are women so please do not degrade them just because you personally don't wish to date them.

Plus, let's continue to educate one another on the important information. Like preventing STI's as a lesbian, domestic abuse in lesbian relationships and how to deal with that, safe and consentual sex between lesbians. This is what we need to be educating young lesbians and bisexual women on.

Have a fabulous long weekend all 🤍🌈

I’ll celebrate two women who separately have been wonderful role models to me in a career in which it’s not easy to be openly lesbian.

LostToucan · 03/05/2021 19:00

@Erikrie

I don't think they are permabanned, their account seems to be up and running. Sadly. Well I can still see everything there anyway. Maybe they appealed. Although seeing people get banned on twitter for the use of cis would be extremely satisfying.
Suspended again.
Erikrie · 03/05/2021 19:25

Suspended again.

Good.

RedDogsBeg · 03/05/2021 19:26

Suspended again.

Funny how they don't want their speech policed and insist they must be able to say what they want to say and now fuming about the mass reporting whilst simultaneously mass reporting and policing the speech of others who say what they don't them to say or hear. They never like it when the rules they demand are used are justifiably used against them. My heart bleeds.

CorvusPurpureus · 03/05/2021 19:37

I'd like to celebrate my badass, funny, kind, lesbian teenage dd.

Here's to strong women & raising them Thanks.

Erikrie · 03/05/2021 19:40

Well they've been pretty repulsive and aggressive today. Not much different from any other time really. So yeah, a case of reaping what one sows ...as I know they've been here today in their volunteer monitoring role ☺️

AfternoonToffee · 03/05/2021 20:14

Do you think there is a rota for the shifts? And they have to arrange swops if they need to go to the dentist or something?

Erikrie · 03/05/2021 20:31

I'm not sure of a rota as such. I think it's quite an ad hoc arrangement. Offers great flexibility really. Ideal role for a wanna be 'activist'. Probably looks good on the CV for certain roles in the activism field too ☺️ I can think of one or two organisations who want access to an individuals social media to make sure that they're the right sort of person for them when applying for jobs with them...

My social media is of course too tainted for such pure roles.

Erikrie · 03/05/2021 20:34

Anyway I never thought I'd see the day when that person got booted off of twitter after so many years. Is this one of the first of this kind I wonder 🤔

Doyoumind · 03/05/2021 21:20

I'd prefer that person to be busy on twitter rather than trying to make their way back here despite being a pbp. Looks like they may return to twitter again anyway.

They always come on here and start out under the pretense of reasonable conversation. The house of sand doesn’t take long to erode and they show their true selves.

Volunteer monitoring role?

I call them the Misogynist Monitors. They’re a bunch of transactivists from Twitter who make it their business to scour FWR threads for posts to report.
CorvusPurpureus · 03/05/2021 21:33

Honestly - & I know I've previously been suckered in big style - the OP has an agenda & is best left to it & ignored.

They want this deleted & that would be a shame given so many women posting in good faith.

Really happens. Women can’t be allowed to talk about subjects that haven’t been pre-approved, you see.

They collect screenshots too, & tweet MNHQ complaining about posts they don’t like. There are references to it in www.vice.com/en/article/a3mn9k/mumsnet-uk-mom-forum-terf-transphobia-feminism.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 03/05/2021 21:40

@TommyBrock

I know that there are a few Twitter users who are trans activists who regularly post on here. But do you mean some don't even bother posting but just read everything and report posts they don't like?
Yep

To be fair, some of them used to post but have now been banned so they can’t.

@TommyBrock

They have been banned but are kept on as volunteer moderators?

This is a twisted set-up.

Nah not moderators...monitors

Just people who like to keep an eye on us 😀

AfternoonToffee · 03/05/2021 21:54

Monitors? Anyone else suddenly have memories of The Naughtiest Girl in the School? They could have meetings with the monitors all sat on the stage. Sounds fun.

All. Of. The. Bloody. Time.

It's a thing.
