Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

Christ I hate the word "valid". You "validate" tickets, not people. How it came to be a term that is thought of as gloriously empowering, I don't know. The first time I ever heard it used in that way was satirical, when Lisa in the Simpsons keeps crying "validate me! Validate me!" It used to sound silly. Now we're all supposed to think it's essential to a happy life. How did that happen? I'm valid this lesbian visibility week, everyone! Well I don't care who thinks I'm "valid" as a lesbian as long as my rights and freedoms to be same-sex attracted are protected in law.

Well I've reported this thread more than once and asked *@MNHQ* to clarify their stance on homophobic and goady posts and threads on Mumsnet being as this thread was started days ago.

Still to get a response from them so I guess the answer is that Mumsnet is in support of it. Well done @MNHQ Good job

Asugar My brother is transgender and he's had this issue with others degrading his relationships with women calling him a lesbian when he isn't.

He views being a lesbian as degrading. It seems to me that this could well be linked to his desire to transition. If that statement was coming from a biological male it would be incredibly insulting but in light of who said it I’d be more inclined to view it as internalised homophobia.

I'll be wearing my "Failed, Fat and Fifty" badge all week. It's nothing at all to do with a Lesbians but seeing as that doesn't seem to be a requirement to get involved, I might as well join in. Hurrah!

If anyone's getting weary of the incessant "female now means male, acid now means alkali, the Earth goes round the Moon etc" I recommend looking up lesbian poetry, especially the few fragments of Sappho's writing and the different translations/interpretations.

my young woke friends tell me there is huge pan/bi tension in the youth LGBTQ+ community, because pansexual is considered a term that erases bisexuality and constitutes biphobia and transphobia; and pansexuals conversely think that bisexuality is transphobic, so everyone's confused.

No he doesn't at all. He actually has many friends who are lesbians and has nothing against it. But he isn't a girl. That's it. He's just not a girl.

A lesbian is a same sex attracted woman/female. Gender Identity has got nothing to do with sex. By its own logic it is about an inner internal identity which is usually defined in opposition to the birth sex.

While two transwomen may very well be sexually attracted to each other, it is something other than a lesbian relationship.

This is my badge: the law treats sex as biological and binary, and gender identity as social.

However trans women are women therefore they can be lesbians if they are attracted to other women.

This is your ideology, not reality. Again, repeating a lie does not make it true.

Just for the record, I am not 'cis' have never been 'cis' and never will be 'cis'. I find that term incredibly offensive.

But he's not a woman. He is a man. Lesbians are women loving women.

Because trans women can be lesbians. That's not for cisgender women to gatekeep

Only in their own terms and in their own company. Lesbian has a wider and easily defined context and meaning which you will have to deal with unfortunately.
