The idea that ‘female’ is a ‘gender identity’ is absurd. Where does that leave all the other mammals? How will a vet know what to write on the form when they register your dog or cat? Male or female? No idea, let’s ask the creature how they see themselves.

My cat had his bollocks AND penis removed (urinary blockage issues, poor bastard). If I asked the vet if my cat is now female, I suspect he’d think I was really dim.

As for @ASugarr’s discomfort with the term ‘trans widows’, I wonder if they are similarly affronted by ‘golf widows’ which is a term that’s been around for decades. @ASugarr- do you spend time trying to shut down golf widow groups?

Well, it sort of can be, as an auxiliary meaning. It's a connector type, for example. So these "gender identities" whatever they are can include "female" as a type within that system, with whatever meaning they want.

The problem is the attempt to deny the primary meaning.

Of course it matters what genitals she has. Lesbians do not and never have had a penis. You cant swap a penis for a uterus and ovaries .........100% fact.

Both Asugarr and Shizuku have confirmed that they believe lesbian sex can involve penises (earlier in the thread).

Hamster, I would of course welcome your answer because you too are a trans activist. You actively work towards making the world better for trans people, don't you? I never assume that trans activists all campaign for changes to their rights that conflict those of women and children.

So, if you want to answer, please do. Any clarity will be good at this point. We have had some very enlightening posts that have surprised us all on this thread...

We don’t have transsexual pets. No one needs to even ask that question really.

If someone born with a male body is more mentally well and functional transitioning to as close as physically/ hormonally possible to female and sees themselves as a woman then they have a female gender identity.

The GRA aligns man with male, and woman with female. So if you identify as a man, you have a male gender identity. I don’t think that’s absurd.

Male is a sex term. Human sex is immutable. Male is the sex (class) that can produce sperm, as opposed to sex that can produce ova. The GRA is a legal fiction. If I break the windows of Tesco, legally a person in company law, I have committed criminal damage, not ABH.

Personally I do find it absurd because I view ‘male’ and ‘female’ as factual descriptors of a mammal’s reproductive set-up. This is not something anyone can identify in or out of.

How can male or female be a ‘gender’ identity? Biological sex is not gender, which is why I used the example of other mammals. They are male or female, just as humans are.

They can call themselves anything they want, they do not have the protected characteristic of being same sex attracted or that of the female sex, they only have the characteristic of gender reassignment. That is the point we are making.

I mean, it's all absurd IMO, but the idea of "identifying" as a member of a clearly defined mammalian sex you don't belong to, and don't meet any of the criteria for is particularly so.

But then other people identify as wolves and stuff so 🤷‍♀️
