Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

Excellent - I'll make sure to tell my cat that while she isn't female, she is a woman Grin

AdHominemNonSequitur · 29/04/2021 22:13

@Shizuku

"when I was young the message was all about being true to yourself, standing up for what you believe in, finding your own authentic path, no matter what others thought of you, and not letting the opposition of others get you down or stop you achieving your goals. I mean, that message has problems too, but at least it stands a chance of building some resilience in the face of opposition."

That's the attitude of most of the trans woman I know.

I think the key point is 'no matter what others thought of you'. Implicit in that is that you don't need external validation.
LegoPoliceman · 29/04/2021 22:13

"I'm afraid you'll have to take that up with the scientists - they don't believe you that female isn't a gender identity.*

Help a lesbian out here-
If I identify as male (not as masculine or a transman or a man but a male like you say I can) and my wife remains married to me and sexually active with me, is she now in a heterosexual relationship? Would she, by virtue of remaining sexually attracted to me, be bisexual?

Unreasonabubble · 29/04/2021 22:14

In case you are wondering, I have a DS who, due to the medication I was on, could have been born with a penis & a womb.

@ASugarr

Could I identify as a transwoman? I was born female with xx chromosomes, but feel like I'm in the wrong body and I'm actually a transwoman.

Does this work?

I'm not being facetious, I'm trying to work out what rules we're supposed to be playing by here. [/quote]
I think that would officially make you the most vulnerable in society (given the rules I don't think I need any form of proof for that to be true do I?)

IAmFleshIAmBone · 29/04/2021 22:16

Ooh snap, I have a woman cat as well! She doesn't identify as female though. She are what they say them is. 😾

I personally think she's need reading too much Foucault.

Waitwhat23 · 29/04/2021 22:17

I was thinking that I can't bear listening to yet another reprise of 'woman is a gender term' and now I learn it isn't even the consensus between trans allies themselves! Bit rich to make condensing remarks about boosting IQ's if that's the case, surely?

Waitwhat23 · 29/04/2021 22:18

Typo - Condescending

My male cat was neutered. Are they female now? I only ask because they enjoy playing with the pink mice more than the blue or brown ones.

How about you leave her alone and not ask her personal questions like that. Awfully rude.
cakedays · 29/04/2021 22:21

@Whatwouldscullydo

Hang on someone else was trying to say that man and woman are gender terms.

So if female is the identity then what is man and woman?

This is getting confusing

whatwouldscullydo love your username! I fear Scully would be one of those unfortunate scientists who unfortunately believe in boring old biological sex, when there are so many gender possibilities out there to believe in instead.... Grin
IAmFleshIAmBone · 29/04/2021 22:22

She is still a MAN but probably identifies as a female. Female = gender, man = biology. HTH

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/04/2021 22:22

Well that was the whole reason she was even assigned Grin

@nitsandwormsdodger

I'm new to this whole debate so I don't know all the terms and issues but Do you have a oenis Op? If you do how can you be a lesbian ? I support you living your best Fabist life ...Genuine wuestion as I'm confused
You do not need to know someone's genitals. Leave her alone. That's so gross to ask.
Scepticaltank · 29/04/2021 22:25

We already know

LostToucan · 29/04/2021 22:27

Okay. I mean I probably do more for women and women's rights than others here but you can think what you want.

Really? That’s interesting.

I had to persuade the men in charge of my profession that I could do the same job as men given that I had the same qualifications (although in reality I had to be better than the men) before you were even born.

So I will be sceptical about the “I’m fighting for women’s rights” guff when you’re actively making it harder for women (as in females and not people with a penis) in a patriarchal society.

HamsterV2 · 29/04/2021 22:27

I think he, sorry she, identifies as a cat rather than a man tbh. It's so confusing. I think she's probably regretting being neutered too as she keeps licking where her fluffy marbles were.

Perhaps I should ask the vet for assistance on this matter because it's "science" right?

Erkrie · 29/04/2021 22:27

I think it's gross that you have tried to bring down a trans widows support page, and appropriated the experience of widows to do so. Why don't you stop doing things like that?

GreyhoundG1rl · 29/04/2021 22:28

Why are you answering all the penis questions, ASugarr? They haven't been addressed to you.

Because it's incredibly disrespectful. You don't need to know what genitals she has. At all. So don't ask.
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/04/2021 22:30

Do you agree with the assertion on this thread that the word female is a gender-term?
