Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

I never really felt like a woman (always played with boys etc) until Inhad children. Am I maybe a trans woman?

Don't see why not. Anyone who identifies as a trans woman is a trans woman, that's literally the definition.

NecessaryScene1 · 29/04/2021 21:06

Am I maybe a trans woman?

If you want to be. A trans woman is anyone who identifies as a trans woman.

Blibbyblobby · 29/04/2021 21:09

It does make you wonder why so much effort is concentrated on trying to correct the good women of FWR when there are clearly so many more women waiting in the wings, all saying the exact same thing.

To be fair, it’s not that much effort. Some individuals put a lot of effort in (and respect due, they plug away at what’s a pretty thankless task, so I hope they get lots of lovely validation their peers by from sharing screenshots of their efforts or something) but it’s literally a handful of people. You’ll get at least 50 times that many on a single third division Twitter pile on.

Grin the dog-guys on chains and the adult babies

Of course we know the reason why, and it's that penises are normally involved in those "identities"/"communities". I don't think I've seen much diaper fetishism or "cub play" identified with by any "non-neo-vagina havers" (disclaimer: I did know one girl who claimed to be sexually aroused by the musical Cats, but she later became a non-binary transman Grin)

There's not much identity validation to be gained from pushing at the sexual boundaries of the "penis havers".

Indeed. It's not possible to silence everyone. Women just pop up everywhere with their pesky truths.

SapphosRock · 29/04/2021 21:20

@WoolOfBat

Now I am truly confused.

You can be born female and a trans woman?
I now have no clue about the interaction between a gender I don’t believe in and biology Sad.

I never really felt like a woman (always played with boys etc) until Inhad children. Am I maybe a trans woman?

Happy belated trans day of visibility!

Be sure to centre yourself. The day is all about you after all.

True but it's dispersed and Mumsnet is a concentration of articulate, uncontrollable women so it has to be contained in order to weaken the fight to enforce women's rights

GreyhoundG1rl · 29/04/2021 21:21

Just the one day? If only...

LegoPoliceman · 29/04/2021 21:21

@NecessaryScene1

Am I maybe a trans woman?

If you want to be. A trans woman is anyone who identifies as a trans woman.

Although, if transwomen can apparently also be natal females even though NO ONE HAS EVER SAID THAT, BIGOTS:

A woman (Adult Human Female variety) can identify as a
Transwomen (Adult Human Male identifying as a woman) by way of first identifying as a
Transman (Adult Human Female identifying as a man) and then, because (according to Shizuku) they've always been Male (I'll assume it works the other way around as well), are definitively identical to a
Man (Adult Human Male) and can then identify as a
Transwoman (Adult Human Male identifying as a woman) but then, cuz a transwoman had always been female...

They're a woman again!

I've got that right, right? I'm a bit drunk and that whole thing was like a car crash with words and no survivors.

Delphinium20 · 29/04/2021 21:23

it’s... everything about being with a woman that’s entirely different from everything about being with a man, or with someone who’s been socialised as one. Please do go away (I’m saying that politely) with your ‘genital preferences’

Yup. That's been my one thought browsing this thread. In honor of my elderly lesbian MIL who hasn't been to Pride on over a decade because "the men took over and ruined it", I'm seconding that emotion, "Please do go away."

Im as sober as a judge and agree with you completely 😀

It's not possible to silence everyone. Women just pop up everywhere with their pesky truths.

It's like whack-a-mole and it will only get harder as the claims become more and more outlandish and detached from reality (as Sophocles points out).

WeeBisom · 29/04/2021 21:34

@blackwhiteandstripey:
On the old reddit trans debate sub, I once asked if women could identify as transwomen, and I was told that women cannot identify as a transwoman because 'transwomen' isn't an identity! 'Transwoman' is just the description of someone who was "assigned male at birth and has the woman gender identity." So being male at birth is an essential element of being a "transwoman" and women, being female, simply cannot identity into that category. There was no explanation forthcoming about why we ought to accept that 'woman' is a gender identity, and something that one can identify as, whereas 'transwoman' is not.

WoolOfBat · 29/04/2021 21:38

weeBisom I think that is a bit harsh. Blackwhiteandstripey is clearly considering their identity and might be ready to come out as a trans woman. If that is their strong internal sense of themselves we should support and celebrate that. Isn’t that how this works?

Could I identify as a transwoman? I was born female with xx chromosomes, but feel like I'm in the wrong body and I'm actually a transwoman

I think I've seen this before. Is that called an AFAB transwomen? (assigned female at birth). Which is what you're describing. So I think it must be a thing.

You do surprise me.

The minute you or anybody else knows what you are you are not it, you are what you or anybody else knows you are and as everything in living is made up of finding out what you are it is extraordinarily difficult really not to know what you are and yet to be that thing.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/04/2021 21:50

And here's another quote that is appropriate for this thread.

“There ain't no answer.
There ain't gonna be any answer.
There never has been an answer.
There's your answer.”
