The Florida House passed a bill on April 14, 2021, that would ban trans girls and women from playing on high school and collegiate teams. It would also allow schools to require a genital inspection of student athletes suspected of being trans.

This is child sexual abuse. I hope this never ends up happening in the UK. Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports. Period.

What does that have to do with this conversation?

DH currently has some ice hockey on (mens). That is a brutal sport, not just for the actual playing dynamics - ice, boardings, sticks, ice skates, but also the fact that fighting is par of the course. This is certainly one sport that men and women can't play as equals.

Some possible olympic sports to have mixed / women can do better - Archery, diving and artistic swimming - though I am not sure how that works with a points system.

Are you writing from personal experience OP? I don’t mean to sound rude or pry, but you seem very focused on one specific scenario in this bill - the title of the thread.

Ive been subject to just such an inspection against my will as a child, so I can understand the impact, if in fact that is why you are so against this. I do understand. I don’t want to add detail but there are lots of situations in which your title might occur. If you aren’t currently aware of how often this can actually happen (in non trans issues) I’m happy to list some situations in which this might happen.

But it actually doesn’t change my views on trans athletes in sport, I think trans athletes should compete against other trans athletes, and that sport is an arena reasonably segregated by sex for safety and fairness.
