Genital Inspections

The Florida House passed a bill on April 14, 2021, that would ban trans girls and women from playing on high school and collegiate teams. It would also allow schools to require a genital inspection of student athletes suspected of being trans.

This is child sexual abuse. I hope this never ends up happening in the UK. Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports. Period.

however I don't think a genital inspection should ever be allowed.

Best solution to avoid this happening is if parents ensured their socially transitioned children were fully aware their transition is social and not that they actually changed their sex. Then male children wouldn't have the unrealistic expectation that they all of a sudden would be allowed to play on the girls team. No chance of male children on the team, less chance of people being able to cast doubts on the sex of a child.

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 21:33

@RedDogsBeg

Okay that's great. However I didn't read the bill wrong. I knew from the start the basics however I don't think a genital inspection should ever be allowed.

Um, yes you did, the Bill does not say what your opening post says it does. Furthermore, you have just admitted you have absolutely zero idea how American Schools and Colleges operate, the criteria they use when registering students, nor anything about their sporting programmes and yet here you are declaring with absolute certainty that you are right about American State Legislation and American Schools and Colleges.

You've read a headline and jumped to conclusions and posted them as irrefutable fact without the requisite knowledge or understanding.

Continue thinking what you wish. Its fine. I really don't care.

This isn't only targetting transgender children. This is to target any child who they are suspicious of. So anyone.

The bill covers high school and college sports, so thats students up to about 25 years old.

RedDogsBeg · 18/04/2021 21:37

It's not targeting anyone it is ensuring safety and fair competition in sports which are an integral part of the American education system.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/04/2021 21:38

“I've literally quoted it and shown it fully. Without documentation on the participant, it could lead to them further testing and questioning their sex including a genital inspection.”

What it says is that proof will be requested from the child’s health practitioner. (Not a possibly abusive school sports doctor).

The proof required can be on the basis of one only of three options. Two options do not require the inspection of genitals. So the child’s doctor need not do a physical examination of their genitals - a genital inspection would not therefore be ‘included’ as a matter of course - only by choice.

There is nothing about an immediate- on the spot - answer being required either. Indeed some of the test options would probably need time to be processed in a lab.

Anyway the whole problem is unlikely to come up because as so many said school would already have the details. Or trans sports people would know not to try to join a team of their non - biological sex if it is against the rule.

Let’s all pray those kids have birth certificates 🙏

MovingForwardish · 18/04/2021 21:39

I think this thread might be the most cringe inducing thing I've ever read on MN.
For the love of god OP, stop embarrassing yourself.

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 21:40

I hope so. Because not everyone has access to their birth certificate (without paying for them of course).

Its also to ringfence sports scholarships for girls who might not otherwise be able to afford to go to college.

If they allow men to take all of the scholarships, they can be sued by the girls who lost out.

RedDogsBeg · 18/04/2021 21:42

Continue thinking what you wish. Its fine. I really don't care.

It's not mere thinking it's dealing in facts and logic.

StrangeLookingParasite · 18/04/2021 21:43

More rote-learning and lies.

Quelle surprise.

Absolutely and rightly so.

So OP, how do you propose the inclusion of trans women in female sport in the US gets round the problem in athletics of them being banned from competing in the Olympics from 400m to 1500m?

Will Americans just send depleted or no women's teams? Or eligible athletes who finished down the field?

The US doesn't exactly do great in womens' middle distance running as it is. Until late last year, the Scottish women's 1500m record (a country with a population of less than 5 million) was faster than the American record (with a population of 328 million).

The US desperately needs to encourage more women into competitive sport, and to retain their interest, not to encourage left wing, inclusive trans political ideology.

doublehalo · 18/04/2021 21:58

@ASugarr

Cool well done. Doesn't mean I think children's pants will be pulled down there and then. Obviously 😂 Never lied.
Dear oh dear.

What a dumpster fire of cockwomblery your arguments are.

NiceGerbil · 18/04/2021 21:59

Another point.

I know that some activists want surgery for young people with trans IDs to be available at younger ages.

In the UK a trans girl was given 'gender confirmation' surgery overseas at age 16 (involving removal of penis and testicles).

In the USA 'How old does one have to be to consent to a mastectomy? Only 13, it appears. An article in JAMA Pediatrics on “Chest Dysphoria in Transmasculine Minors and Young Adults” at a US clinic was based on a survey which included 2 girls (transmale) who were 13 years old and had both breasts removed and 5 who were only 14.'

So on the one hand there's this outrage about the idea of 'genital inspections' even though it isn't what the bill says. Because it's child abuse.

But on the other hand children having primary and/ or secondary sexual characteristics surgically altered or removed (which will involve plenty of people examining their bodies) is a good thing?

sanluca · 18/04/2021 22:07

This isn't only targetting transgender children. This is to target any child who they are suspicious of. So anyone.

But questioning a child's sex when dealing with sports is made possible because parents of male children are demanding their male child be allowed to compete on the teams of female children because they cannot bear to tell their child the truth: no human can change their sex and in some cases things are segregated by sex and if you are not that sex, you cannot participate on that team.
If parents were open and honest with their child, then this whole idea of male children on female teams wouldn't even be in people's heads and no child would be questioned. Just simple checks like id or birth certificate would be enough when registering.

Yes, we keep going round and round in circles. On the one hand sports shouldn't be segregated but mixed sex but if they are segregated by sex then transwomen who are biologically male should play on the team for females making the teams mixed sex. So we either have mixed or we have mixed sex.

And determining someone's sex can't be done by birth certificates, because they can be changed to reflect falsehoods, or cheek swabs because that is too expensive or difficult, no we can only tell sex by genitals. But no one in schools, where there are communal changing rooms, will ever know anything about what sex a child is before another team asks questions....
