Genital Inspections

The Florida House passed a bill on April 14, 2021, that would ban trans girls and women from playing on high school and collegiate teams. It would also allow schools to require a genital inspection of student athletes suspected of being trans.

This is child sexual abuse. I hope this never ends up happening in the UK. Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports. Period.

@ASugarr

Personally my view is that sports shouldn't be separated by sex. Especially with children and young people. But I understand that's a personal view that others don't hold.
So fully mixed sex teams then no distinctions on the basis of sex?
LastRoloIsMine · 18/04/2021 20:20

Its not ride its the truth and my opinion. You voice your opinions I have voiced mine.

You have been caught lying on this thread multiple times. What is your motivation as it isn't protecting children if it were why would you need to tell so many lies?

RedDogsBeg · 18/04/2021 20:22

Again. That's your opinion. I haven't lied at all. I care and respect children's rights, one of them being that they should be able to peacefully play sports without these sort of bills preventing them from doing so and possibly causing them harm.

I have seen post after post explaining that the bill didn’t require genital inspections as there were many other options.

I have seen post after post (including my own) outlining how a certification for age and sex is done at the start of a season for competitive sports and that this not is an ongoing requirement.

I am starting to think that OP may not be reading the replies?

OP you are misrepresenting the bill and not, I believe, understanding how competitive sports is played and registered. Please forgive me if you do. I just don’t understand why you don’t accept how certification works. Have you played competitive sports?

As for trans women / trans girls in sports or not, this is a separate discussion. As OP has stated.

OP, I understand that you think sports should be mixed sex. Especially for children. How about starting a separate thread for that?

This thread is about genital inspections- which has been shown ad nauseam to be a complete red herring and beyond unlikely to ever happen in the UK.

I actually have spoken with MN about how much I enjoy the platform other than the feminism section that regularly turns into a place for transphobia and homophobia

Then why are you here in the feminism section, posting in bad faith so that you can make more dishonest claims about 'transphobia' and 'homophobia' on MN. More importantly, why is MNHQ letting you do that?

Because as a feminist I'm allowed to talk about my views as well. Why shouldn't I?

@ASugarr

Never stated it would be immediate. Again, that's not what I have said. I don't agree with the bill nor do I agree a child should have to go through a genital inspection or any sex related procedures to play a sport. Pretty simple. And I've already quoted the bill.
Parents already provide evidence of their child’s sex to access all sorts of things. It’s on the birth certificate. Everyone has one. If sex is indeterminate a DNA test is done.

@ASugarr

Just gotten back from a lovely day out. Since it's clear people are once again making personal insults I won't be commenting further and I'll be contacting MumsNet about those making insulting claims to me and others. This page is literally about having a debate however it is clear that many can't keep the discussion civil without making petty jokes or insulting others for their view. Thank you for those who have participated kindly in the discussion from both sides 🤍
'Won't be commenting further'. 23 posts later, still here and still making shit up.

I care and respect children's rights, one of them being that they should be able to peacefully play sports

But only if they're trans. If they're female you don't respecttheir commitment to they sport or care they might lose their place to a transperson.

LastRoloIsMine · 18/04/2021 20:28

They can play sports peacefully. What they cannot do is cheat. If their chosen sport is sex segregated then they play on the same sex team. It's very simple.
Should their be a question about a child's sex there are THREE options available to prove their sex.
Only one if them is a physical exam.

RedDogsBeg · 18/04/2021 20:28

They are not prevented from playing sport they can play for the sex category for which they qualify, this prevents harm being caused to children.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 18/04/2021 20:30

OP just now: "Personally my view is that sports shouldn't be separated by sex."

Do you not even realise what you're saying at this point? You just said that. But...

OP earlier: "There's quite a few personally I think we shouldn't be separated for. " (implying they believe there are some sports we should be separated for)

Also OP earlier: "for some sports I can see the concern however I don't think this should be a rule for all sports." (Implying they believe there are some sports we should be separated for due to legitimate concerns)

Oh and also OP earlier: "Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports." Does not tally with the statements above.

The flip flopping and lack of consistency must be exhausting for you OP.

But that does put them in harm of hate crimes and being outted. That does cause harm. I understand that for some they don't care about that but as someone who has to help young people I care a lot about their rights.

Take it as you want. I keep coming back because I care. This harms young people. I see this daily and I care. Sorry if me caring is too much for some.

Or be injured competing against someone with sex based physical benefits that mean they are stronger and faster in the overwhelming majority of cases. To the point where a couple of anomalies shared by OP earlier are so vanishingly rare they were covered by major news outlets globally.
LastRoloIsMine · 18/04/2021 20:33

Asugarr sport is not a right. Cheating is not a right.

theThreeofWeevils · 18/04/2021 20:33

as a feminist
How does this feminism of yours find expression? Forgive me if I've missed something, but you appear not to give much of a damn for the sex-based rights of women and girls.

newstart1337 · 18/04/2021 20:33

If separate sex sports were abolished what would happen to people who felt uncomfortable playing in a team with men. They would be unable to play sports. Wouldn't that be unfair?

transbadger · 18/04/2021 20:34

I flaked out on the couch for a nice nap and I come back to see @ASugarr has again linked to this thread on Twitter with flat out lies about the posters on this forum.

Smelly Badger Award for you!!!!!

Go away and think about what you've done.

I agree to some sex based rights however not everything is revolved around it. That's now become a buzzword for all sorts yet sex based rights are more in terms of medical rights and etc.

What's the point? You're not in any way convincing, come across as a troll and nobody on this thread has changed their opinion in any way as a result of anything you have posted. You will never convince anyone here that you care about children more than they do.

yourhairiswinterfire · 18/04/2021 20:36

I've been told previously that the majority are and have even had comments made that I shouldn't be discussing these issues unless I have kids myself so that's based off of what others have said.

There are plenty of us here who are open about not having children, it's never, ever been a problem.

I enjoy the platform other than the feminism section that regularly turns into a place for transphobia and homophobia.

Being pro-women isn't transphobia. Homophobia? You do realise that every poster here isn't heterosexual, right?

There are many lesbian and bisexual posters here. I was a lurker here way before I started posting, and have seen some of those incredible women giving their harrowing accounts of the homophobia they experienced, including violent conversion therapy that included corrective rape. I find it highly unlikely they'd happily contribute to a board that is homophobic.
