Genital Inspections

The Florida House passed a bill on April 14, 2021, that would ban trans girls and women from playing on high school and collegiate teams. It would also allow schools to require a genital inspection of student athletes suspected of being trans.

This is child sexual abuse. I hope this never ends up happening in the UK. Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports. Period.

It seems to be your M.O that you start threads, and then create the inevitable Twitter post linking the thread with what you seem to think is some kind of proof of transphobia. What are you getting out of that?
There will be the inevitable few over there who blindly agree with what you are espousing, but hopefully a few of them will actually read the thread and learn something, and maybe be educated a little about what women on this board are actually concerned about. Maybe they will see that we are not the frothing transphobes you seem to believe we are, and that the arguments put forth are reasoned and logical and well researched, and backed up for the most part with science and fact.
Unlike the hysterical and inaccurate 'facts' you have put forward. Backed up by YouTube videos.

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 20:08

@Nodal

How cowardly to post it on twitter hours later, shortly before you get the thread deleted so that nobody can come over and see for themselves what we said and think. How sad to have so little faith in ones convictions too.
It's a public forum. I don't get what's so wrong with displaying my view using this publicly? And not once have I asked for this to be deleted.

@ASugarr

Okay so to be clear, if this were to happen in the UK you would be okay with your child (transgender or not) to have a genital examination if you didn't bring their birth certificate to every sports game? You'd be okay for someone to do that to your child?
As has been pointed out to you ad nauseum, no child under the age of 18 in the UK can have a GRC, all parents are are required to provide a copy of their child's Birth Certificate when registering for school, therefore the school will have the information on record regarding the child's sex, ergo no need for a Birth Certificate to be produced before every sports game.

Simple, straightforward no requirement for genital examinations.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 18/04/2021 20:09

Here's the direct quote from the Bill itself which shows what I am discussing which I find to be wrong.

www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2021/1475/?Tab=Amendments

Even in this screenshot it says "as part of a routine medical" so it's an exam they are having anyway. And stop saying it's about children when even in your OP it says "high school and collegiate teams" so that's what 15+ year olds? Yes technically children but not littlies like you imply.

Leafstamp · 18/04/2021 20:09

@ASugarr

Never stated it would be immediate. Again, that's not what I have said. I don't agree with the bill nor do I agree a child should have to go through a genital inspection or any sex related procedures to play a sport. Pretty simple. And I've already quoted the bill.
To repeat my question: if you disagree with the bill, how do you think disputes regarding the sex of a child in sport should be resolved?
youvegottenminuteslynn · 18/04/2021 20:10

OP has not read the bill. That is now clearer than ever.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/04/2021 20:10

The OP, lying on Twitter. It's honestly like you can't read.
No-one is saying children have to have their genitals inspected. Not the Bill, not the women on here.
You are incapable of understanding anything you don't agree with. You are obsessed with painting us all as transphobic. You are ridiculous.

Yup.

Datun · 18/04/2021 20:10

Good question

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 20:11

Personally my view is that sports shouldn't be separated by sex. Especially with children and young people. But I understand that's a personal view that others don't hold.

Oh come on MNHQ Asugarr has repeatedly shown they do not post in the spirit of MN.
Time and time again they post lies then toddle off to Twitter to post more.

Its ridiculous then we can get 3 strikes and a ban for cling males male but this poster is making a complete mockery of you and you allow it.

Yes you quoted the Bill and conclusively proved that you had misread, misunderstood or just plain misrepresented it because it categorically does not say what you are insisting it does.

The fact you believe all sports should be a mixed sex free for all is a different topic entirely.

Actually I post on numerous other threads, not just the feminism section, and there's no issues. I actually have spoken with MN about how much I enjoy the platform other than the feminism section that regularly turns into a place for transphobia and homophobia.

I guess those among us who tweet (I dont personally) could always reply/retweet OPs with screenshots of the comments saying we don't agree with genital exams. I'm sure there have been some. Including from me.

Yes, it’s usually a requirement for children to get a physical done by a doctor before they can do team sports. So there would be a lot of documentation already.

As I said, I was asked about my menstrual cycles. But I think maybe boys do often get a genital exam to check for hernias (or whatever that coughing thing is).

adviceseekingnamechanger · 18/04/2021 20:13

Because you are quite obviously encouraging people on Twitter to come on here for a pile on. You've linked to the thread.

@mnhq this poster is quite a obvious troll. She is starting threads not for debate but to find evidence of our collective transphobia. And on finding none, invents it. She shouldn't be allowed to keep doing this. But I hope this thread is allowed to stand as evidence.

You are flat out lying. Here is one of your earlier posts.

ASugarr Sun 18-Apr-21 18:57:53
It would require a genital inspection if they didn't have documentation on them or they questioned the legitimacy of the documentation

Shame on you OP. If had any genuine concern for children you would stop this nonsense.

HermitsLife · 18/04/2021 20:15

@ASugarr when you share this thread on Twitter and invite people to read the comments from other posters who clearly state time and again that you have your facts wrong. What you say is happening is not happening and in fact there are already measures in place to correctly identify young athletes, what happens then? Do you just double down on there too?

LastRoloIsMine · 18/04/2021 20:15

Asuger is still enjoying the glory of getting MNHQ to delete a thread after they complained to them via Twitter. I would imagine this has made them feel untouchable.

newstart1337 · 18/04/2021 20:16

If some trans think there shouldn't be sexed sports teams, why do they feel 'uncomfortable' playing on the boys team?

If some trans dont feel comfortable playing in the 'boys' team, should anyone be allowed to play in any girls team to feel comfortable. Should men/boys be allowed to play on the 'girls' teams to make them 'feel' comfortable.

When I was younger there was lots of sport teams I didn't feel comfortable on, so I didn't join that team.

Sports are sex segregated though. So if there are going to be disputes around the second a child then it would make sense to have guidance as to how these disputes are resolved.

The alternative is people take matter into their own hands. Which would be wrong.

Can you see that @Asugarr? That it is best to have formal guidance?

HermitsLife · 18/04/2021 20:17

@MNHQ please can you investigate the posts made by @ASugarr. They are clearly a troll and not posting in spirit on Mumsnet, infact they are posting purely to damage the reputation on Mumsnet.

As MumsNet have already said before. Its comments like this that have threads deleted. Not anything I've done. Just people being rude and making assumptions unrelated to the topic. If it gets deleted I take no responsibility in it happening. I don't want it to be.

Am I right in thinking that this bill has had to be drawn up due to the travesty of new legislation put through by the Biden administration.
I.E. Male people are now able to play in female sports due to loopholes, so this has had to be produced to close the loophole up.
The obvious solution would be for individuals to stop trying to play in categories unsuitable for them for fairness and safety reasons.

However possibly this has been going on for a while as I know girls missed out on scholarships previously due to males taking on females competitively.

It just highlights what GIRLS and WOMEN have to lose if policies are poorly thought through like elsewhere (USA, Canada, Scotland...)

What a mess.
