Genital Inspections

The Florida House passed a bill on April 14, 2021, that would ban trans girls and women from playing on high school and collegiate teams. It would also allow schools to require a genital inspection of student athletes suspected of being trans.

This is child sexual abuse. I hope this never ends up happening in the UK. Trans girls and women deserve to play in women's sports. Trans boys and men deserve to play in men's sports. Period.
@mnhq is this really ok that the op takes her posts that she's started here back to Twitter to invite a pile on?
Haven't involved anyone to a pile on. Never have. I've been accused falsely of doing so when people have stepped in and have agreed with me yet I've not aksed or encouraged anyone. I've not even known the people who have been accused of knowing me at all.

Apparently OP has a free pass on MN, they can be as dishonest and offensive as they like, totally go against 'the spirit of the site' and the MN Talk Guidance and they won't be touched.

Leafstamp · 18/04/2021 19:53

Interesting that the OP is assuming posters here are “mothers”.

EdgeOfACoin · 18/04/2021 19:53

@adviceseekingnamechanger

The OP, lying on Twitter. It's honestly like you can't read.

No-one is saying children have to have their genitals inspected. Not the Bill, not the women on here.

You are incapable of understanding anything you don't agree with. You are obsessed with painting us all as transphobic. You are ridiculous.

So, this thread is likely to get deleted as well then.
doublehalo · 18/04/2021 19:54

Thanks for the link OP.

The Bill gives three diferent options to prove the sex of the child and none of them would be required to be provided instantly on the spot so the idea you are promoting, that a child would have to drop their drawers to have a genital inspection is in fact, totally incorrect.

Whether by accident or design you have the wrong end of the stick OP.

CardinalLolzy · 18/04/2021 19:54

I did ask the question earlier if people felt it was acceptable and many said yes.

Are you SURE? on this thread? "It" being genital inspection?

UsedUpUsername · 18/04/2021 19:55

It should also be noted that in America, you usually need what’s called a physical to participate in a team sport.

So you need to go to the doctor to get cleared for participation ANYWAY because they want to make sure the children don’t have any health issues or that any health issues are reviewed by health care providers before starting up a team sport.

Trans children would have a number of serious health implications for sports, so those would be reviewed before participating in any sports. The documentation would be there already.

I had to do a physical when I joined a sports team in school as a kid in the US (no genital exams but did ask about menstruation) but I do think the boys have to be checked for a hernia (is it the coughing in the testicles thing? Not entirely sure about the male sport physicals).

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 19:55

I hope that it won't.

Have you read the bill you feel so passionately about OP?

CardinalLolzy · 18/04/2021 19:57

Anyway op knows they have guaranteed this thread will be considered for deletion.

Cool, way to go, yay feminism.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 18/04/2021 19:57

It would be a terrible shame for this thread to be deleted

I don’t know why threads can’t simply be locked

BaseDrops · 18/04/2021 19:57

We split sports and many other things by sex because it creates two categories which are considered fair.

Sports are unsurprisingly dominated by those who have physical advantages. Who do think makes the boys under 15 rugby team? The one who hasn’t started puberty? Or the one who has and is now tall and strong? Should all the boys who are being “denied” a place on the team hop on over to the girls rugby team? When do they get moved back into boys sports - by Tanner stage?

Girls bodies get more complicated in puberty for sports. Changing prolactin levels lead to increased injury. Breasts are painful and change balance and weight distribution. Cramps. Coping with menstrual bleeding in skimpy sports kit.

Girls are not the same as pre-pubertal boys, any growth chart shows you that. Girls going through puberty are not the same as boys with blocked puberty. Girls with blocked puberty are not the same as boys going through puberty.

You can’t just swap people in and out of groups defined by sex FOR GOOD REASON by saying gender is the same. It isn’t.

JoodyBlue · 18/04/2021 19:58

OP has either knowingly misrepresented this long discussion or is incapable of understanding it. Not sure which. Either way, I hope the twitterati will visit and read for themselves and maybe they can decide.

Seconded.
Nellodee · 18/04/2021 19:59

I did worry that this bill might go like this:
“We think Maya is male. She can’t compete until you prove otherwise. Get her off the pitch!”

Which would be crap.

However, I think it’s much more likely to be:

“Maya is male, isn’t she? We’ve started the complaints process, and you have three weeks to produce evidence that she’s female, otherwise she will no longer be able to participate.”

RedDogsBeg · 18/04/2021 20:01

Furthermore it is down to the schools to ensure that participants in sex segregated sports are participating in the correct sex category, the same as making sure that participants in sport are in the correct age category for the sport.

I can see nothing in there about opponents disputing the inclusion of some players on the opposing team and immediate genital inspections being demanded or carried out which is something you asserted would be the case @ASugarr, can you please highlight where the Bill says this?

YouSetTheTone · 18/04/2021 20:01

JoodyBlue thank you for the flowers! That’s a real boost.
I agree, what JKR did was selfless and eye-opening. She spoke for women who could not speak and shook awake women who did not know.

It’s clear you are an impassioned person op and if only you could turn your wrongly conceived outrage over genital checks into the genuine travesty against girls and women in sport then the world would be a better place for it.

I sincerely hope it isn't. But the very fact of me hoping that, probably means it will be.

I've reported this post and asked MNHQ to consider your suggestion
newstart1337 · 18/04/2021 20:04

If boys are now going to be allowed on girls rugby/sports teams the annual insurance for girls is going to sky rocket. Not something that will affect boys insurance. Thanks men for discriminating against women/girls again.

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 20:05

Never stated it would be immediate. Again, that's not what I have said. I don't agree with the bill nor do I agree a child should have to go through a genital inspection or any sex related procedures to play a sport. Pretty simple. And I've already quoted the bill.

ASugarr · 18/04/2021 20:06

@Leafstamp

Interesting that the OP is assuming posters here are “mothers”.
I've been told previously that the majority are and have even had comments made that I shouldn't be discussing these issues unless I have kids myself so that's based off of what others have said.

How cowardly to post it on twitter hours later, shortly before you get the thread deleted so that nobody can come over and see for themselves what we said and think. How sad to have so little faith in ones convictions too.

goldielockdown2 · 18/04/2021 20:07

What the hell are you playing at twisting the truth like that on Twitter? Are you just a habitual liar?
