Anyone fancy co-parenting with LOJ?

Owen Jones wants a baby, and would like a lesbian couple to impregnate. Any takers on mumsnet? He could be quite a catch for someone looking for a sperm donor and a co-parent to raise a well balanced child.
He got a bit of flack, so is doubling down on the the "anti-trans cult" and calling everyone homophobic.

Isn't Little Owen being transphobic here? Owen's opinion is trans women are women but he's making the assumption lesbians will be the suitable candidate .There are lesbians for whom it is absolutely physically impossible to become pregnant.

He is also excluding trans men, hetero and homosexual, who obviously can and do get pregnant.

Surely a transman whose sexuality is gay should be his preferred choice? And the only choice for someone wishing to support trans rights, and the reproductive rights of trans men specifically. No need for a co-parenting situation, they could be an actual couple. Why is he excluding trans men?

The pink news guy did this exact same thing didn't he? TWAW but suddenly knows it's female women he needs when he wants a baby. And when this contradiction was pointed out he said it was homophobia.

As for the rest...

Co parenting a child is a massive deal. I think it goes without saying that everyone involved needs to know each other really well, trust each other etc.

As such surely LOJ would either have friends in mind who he thinks might be interested and he'd presumably approach them about it in a sensitive way. Unless they asked him of course.

Or, he doesn't in which case there's not a lot to be done.

I find the responses so interesting.

When it's pointed out that he's adamant TWAW and so it's odd he suddenly knows lesbians are homosexual females.

The answer from a lot of people is TWAW so obviously can't carry babies.

Why didn't he say uterus havers or menstruators? That's what we're told over and over to say.

I think this is a real problem.

I have been uncomfy with this for years because it's all just illogical.

But I've just realised that the fact it's illogical is of no interest.

Like all the orgs and news outlets that use menstruators in some situations and women in others and they mean sex.

So the idea is that these words are all fluid and you can use the same one to mean different things and the reader should understand which meaning it is from the context.

And it seems a lot of people think this is obvious and fine Confused

Two assumptions there:

  1. He has lesbian friends
  2. If he has, that he hasn't already asked them. Only for them to laugh and go 'erm, no thanks'.

Not really. Not if you are an attention seeking journalist who gets paid on the basis of writing click bait opinion pieces which deliberately are about sensationalism rather than reflecting in a measured way about reality.

More to the point, its not weird if you've pissed off all the homosexual women out there by say they are bigotted by refusing to buy into the abuse of 'TWAW' in the lesbian community (but noticably you also go mute when asked if you'd have a relationship with a transman).

Its not weird if you constantly act like a sexist creep who only values women on the basis of whether they will carry your offspring for you.

I just go, give me strength. Its so fucking 'progressive' isn't it? How many clicks is he after today?

How is this better than any of the shit Nigel Farage has come out with? How is it less offensive?

He's paid to do it. Its his livelihood.

The Guardian pay him to write about how to be an egotistical sexist creep. They sell newspapers and make money themselves off the bad of him being an egotistical sexist creep. They don't think he's a problem to their reputation. Nor do they think its bad for him hold grudges and behave in a what sounds like a 'remarkably unprofessional' manner.

Did I mention how the Guardian makes money selling sexism enough?

Why a lesbian couple? Why not one of the myriad women on here who wants a child and is aging, of any sexuality.

It does rather smack of winding lesbians up. Which does imply the people replying to him aren't the bigots. But maybe it's plain old sexism, 'women do the work of parenting'.

I'm a straight, married woman with kids.
I can accept that people who are gay are lesbian might want to have children of their own, it might not necessarily mean they are in their everyday lives.
