Multiple women murdered in Atlanta

I've just come across this:

www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/at-least-four-asian-women-shot-dead-at-two-day-spas-in-atlanta/ar-BB1eEUq4

But the update suggests six Asian women across multiple locations, plus one white woman and a white man. I'm not sure that Asian in the US means the same ethnicity it does here, but regardless, that's women of a particular group targeted. It can't be a coincidence.

This is horrendous.

@PotholeHellhole

I agree it's also misogyny but to only one race of women. So it's even more repulsive.

Maybe he would've eventually hurt another race of women. Who knows, but his racism is very clear - that Asian women are the responsible for his supposed sex addiction, while ignoring say strip clubs full of all women, or porn which has all race of women.

I think it was more racially motivated.

Multiple murders don't always hit the front pages. A young lady and her two children went missing from Bristol, and tragically her body and that of her baby have been found in the home of a man in Dundee, he's been arrested for murder. Her older daughter was found 'safe'. It isn't even the top story in Scotland.

There's been a mass shooting in Boulder and so this mass murder of women will now be relegated to yesterday's news. No one will learn anything and the rise of misogynistic mass shooting will continue.

This is truly grim but well worth reading:

'Men have often told me what they “know” about my body. They swear that my pussy is tighter than a white woman’s and that they’d love to “stretch it out.” They tell me that I haven’t known real pleasure because Asia doesn’t have real men. They say they want to taste me because chocolate nipples are sweeter than pink ones.

I’ve been offered money for sex because “that’s all Filipino women are good for anyway.” I’ve had men try to lift up my skirt “to see if your c**t is as slanted as your eyes.” I’ve been called racial and sexual slurs until I started crying, only to find that the person harassing me enjoyed my tears.

Many of the men are aggressive, but some of them have tried to woo me — at first. They beg me to whisper ancient Chinese secrets in their ear, vow to treat me like an empress, offer to lay cherry blossoms at my feet. Until I turn them down. “Asian women are ugly anyway,” they say.

The hypersexualization of Asian women plays a huge part in the violence we face. Knowing how violent men can be when they’ve been rejected makes me think about the shooter, who said he saw his victims as a “temptation” that needed to be removed. '

@lionheart god...that is just awful.

lionheart · 23/03/2021 18:48

Racism and misogyny and a culture saturated with pornography makes for a hideous mix.

This last paragraph in the HuffPost. SadAngry

“Why do you think Asian women have finally started speaking up?” people have asked me.

We’ve been speaking up all along. You just haven’t been listening.

Just came to ask posters who're talking about sex work, prostitutes and libfem (I'm none of those and have no idea what libfem really means anyway); asking where they are to condemn this; wondering if they'll still say sex work is work or explain this type of shit as part of the job risks -what exactly are you saying?

Are you saying that these women wouldn't have been killed if they were not into sex work? (I'm not personally saying they are, I'm asking if that's what you mean).

Are you saying that being into sex work gets you killed in a mass shooting and it's naturally part of the job risk so you should also think about it before going into sex work?

Were people in the world trade center into sex work? Were children at the schools into sex work? What about those people in the mall? Those in the bar/club? Were they all sex workers? Did they not all die in the hands of mass murderers and shootings?

I don't think this argument of 'sex work isn't work because it could get you killed' is what you should be using here, it's covert victim blaming. Anyone can be killed doing any sort of work.

The blame is solely on this white male who committed murder because he could.
