It was inevitable of course. Whatever the original intentions of the local women who set up the facebook event page, given the huge response they have had, it was just to tempting for those who always want to be in control not to take over.

So now there is a Reclaim These Streets facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/282187170119807/ which of course loads of women have joined. And although it is meant to be about sharing your experiences, your ideas, your whatever, turns out the group admins will not let your voice be heard if you dont express yourself in an approved way.

No need to detail what that is, but once again the vanguard of well schooled stonewall students are definitely in charge.

And of course this also applies to the now in excess of half a million pounds raisde for women's projects. It has been decreed - by knee jerk tweet that only trans inclusive groups will get women.

Tough luck on those providing women only services as legally allowed under the EA. So rape crisis helplines, women refuges, many BME groups will be deemed not worthy of financial support.

How come there are never enough mumsnetters out and about on facebook or wherever to capture groups?

There’s a thread currently running in the group about endometriosis (phrased by the OP as “ I’d like to raise a discussion around endometriosis and the general treatment of people born with a female reproductive system that present with pain of any kind.”

An entire crowed chanting 'fuck off TERFS' Saw my friend be physically assaulted and hurt whilst a crowed were chanting 'Fuck off TERFS'

Why you ask? Because we dared to stand on the guildhall steps and hold a flag with the definition of woman printed on it at a reclaim the streets protest. That was our crime, holding a flag in a public space with the dictionary definition of woman."

So although the male voice is dominant women are also being hostile.

And individual male has posted about how sucessful the event was with over 250 atttending. Many of whom I suspect wouldnot be aware of the issue.

Ideally a letter to the local media would be best. But can see those being pushed and shoved wouldn't want to have their names made public.

I've looked at the local RTS Portsmouth facebook page and it just says in earlier posts that terfs aren't welcome.

So doubt they will acknowledge their was even an issue. (Events aren't centrally organised its up to each local group.) I wonder if all 50+ local RTS groups are like this.

Seriously, you can be trans and still appreciate that biological women are going to have different biological issues than those born male. Honestly as someone who had some contact with stoned hippies, am beginning to think that that waht they garbled made more sense than these performative "I'm on the right side" lemmings.

Also saw a post from a woman saying she was resubmitting a post because admins had told her to re-write her original post, and she has been attacked again. So she is now asking them why as white women they are so hostile to Black women expressing themselves.

This has really upset me. I didn't manage to go today due to work but my 14 year old DD went with her pal. She's aware of what happened to Sarah and there has been several attacks on women and girls in Portsmouth last year and a couple of women murdered. She had disclosed to me last week that men in cars catcall at her and her pals ,making comments about their breasts etc ,when they come out of school,so she wanted to go to this. She came back early saying that a woman was standing up at the steps of Guildhall Steps and that men were shouting Terf at some women. So her and her pal just came home . She said "think they kinda missed the point ,mum ". Yes indeed DD.
I'm horrified at what happened to those women and I wish I had been there to defend them . What an absolute farce that women cannot go to a protest for women without getting threatened and attacked by men. The woman councillor mentioned allegedly goading the men on ,is our local Councillor . An absolute useless waste of time who is only interested in TWAW . Our ward is a deprived ward with almost 50% and this person spends her time going on about trans rights and how evil T*rfs are . Yes we have complained about her ,especially when she had a link to Pornhub on her Twitter page for over a year . Nothing was done . I'm so disgusted that this happened to these women and if anyone knows them ,please can you tell them ,I would love to speak to them as a Gc woman . @Shaggervalley - I dont know if the women being pushed an shoved are part of FiLia, but I think there is a connection. I think there is a FiLia organising group in Portsmouth because that is where it is due to be held.

The way for men to support women’s safety is not to turn up at protests/meetings/events etc for women and behave like dicks, is it? It’s a bit like following a woman down a dark alley to show her how fucking safe you are. Then shouting at her for being nervous.
