It was inevitable of course. Whatever the original intentions of the local women who set up the facebook event page, given the huge response they have had, it was just to tempting for those who always want to be in control not to take over.

So now there is a Reclaim These Streets facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/282187170119807/ which of course loads of women have joined. And although it is meant to be about sharing your experiences, your ideas, your whatever, turns out the group admins will not let your voice be heard if you dont express yourself in an approved way.

No need to detail what that is, but once again the vanguard of well schooled stonewall students are definitely in charge.

And of course this also applies to the now in excess of half a million pounds raisde for women's projects. It has been decreed - by knee jerk tweet that only trans inclusive groups will get women.

Tough luck on those providing women only services as legally allowed under the EA. So rape crisis helplines, women refuges, many BME groups will be deemed not worthy of financial support.

How come there are never enough mumsnetters out and about on facebook or wherever to capture groups? Sad

@Shaggervalley
I have copied a link below for you to read, it's by Sally a FiLiA volunteer who was at the protest. I will pass on your message of support, but If you want to reach out directly, you can contact her at filia.org.uk
On a side note we are holding our annual conference in Portsmouth this October, if you haven't already got tickets consider coming along, there will be hundreds of like minded women for you to connect with, all the details are on the website.

A bit earlier in this thread I suggested that maybe we could have a FWR Reclaim These Streets - a sort of RTS uncensored.

But on reflection, not interested in something that could become a tit for tat with the main FB group, but also I think the name - RTS - is now tainted (ie Portsmouth) which is a depressing notion that across the UK if you set up a group about a women's issue it is now 99% centain it will become a TWAW group. So best of luck to Radfem Reclaim!

Also I just heard an interview with the young woman who set up the Everyone Invited web site. I have no idea is she is GC but she is very clear, the web site isn't about private schools, that was just her personal experience. It is about rape culture. Schools are just one of the place entitled men and boys act out the learnt behaviour which happens long before they go to school.

Also, knowing mumsnetters, if there is an issue that is important to them, they will set up a thread to them.

But on the other hand if someone else thinks it could be a positive step to have a Reclaim These Streets Thread on FWR for women to talk about their experience of harassment and worse in public spaces, and also suggest ways of changing this (curfew for men gets my vote!) please go ahead. And at least MNHQ have set out their guidelines for what is or is not permitted.

@AngeloMysterioso

There’s a thread currently running in the group about endometriosis (phrased by the OP as “ I’d like to raise a discussion around endometriosis and the general treatment of people born with a female reproductive system that present with pain of any kind.”

I’m sure you can imagine what happened next...

(names and profile pictures have been hidden to protect the innocent/ignorant)

One brave women did point out that this is a women’s health issue... guess what happened to her comment and its replies?

The thing is that most women on that thread are still talking about women - and ignoring the trolls shouting about inclusivity - I’ve not seen any transmen talking about endometriosis on there yet - just women telling other women not to talk freely.

Have just found out that the admin policy on this facebook group is that if they receive 2 complaints about a particular poster they are banned!

So is it any wonder that so many gender critical woman were kicked out of the group. The TRAs must have been in their element.

And this must have been what stopped any rational discussion about making sure that women only services got any money to be shared out.

What a shame that something positive could have come out of the individual tragedy of one woman has been totally derailed by what is probably only 2 or 3 people - and of course all the handmaidens anxious to show how woke they are.

I’ve on the RtheseS FBK but don’t post just read. It’s slightly better than the RtheStreets that have questions at registration to make you ‘Repeat the twats are ways’ mantra. I didn’t answer them but still got catch by the system and see their posts mostly about XR and not so directly women issues. They also declare they are Sisters Uncut.
None of the above have info on Julia James murder recently.
It’s no place for women unless we are quiet and silenced on Social Media.

Reclaim the Streets is an environamentalist / green group though? Set up some time ago, long before the murder of Sarah Everard ie not a group supposedly about male violence against women.
