It came out in the live tweeting - I think it was the defence barrister - that there are other law suits against the prison service on this issue, from both trans women prisoners and female prisoners.

It's also worth pointing out that this case wasn't crowd funded. I think she had legal aid. That's why it felt like it came out of nowhere when it came to court.

No legal expert but I'm wondering if the UK govt could be in breach of international human rights law by placing male born rapists in the female estate? Apologies if this has already been discussed.

You are right that it is a possible breach.

There was discussion in the case of several articles of human rights law as incorporated into English law by the Human Rights Act 1998 (3, 8 and 14 from memory).

The links between the gender critical movement and the most extreme elements of the far right seem to grow stronger every day.

Makes a refreshing change from delving into terrorism, revenge porn, destruction of the tourist industry, and the ruination of trans Atlantic trade deals, tho.

So basically, the MOJ is insisting that the Equality Act doesn’t apply to women if they are incarcerated (but does to men who identify as women).

So by that logic.... Failure to pay the TV licence gives women the choice of either paying a £1000 fine or losing their rights to protection under the Equality Act?

How can that be legal?

I couldn't actually read it as it was paywalled, but if it was based on unnamed prison sources, much like the lies about Huntley, then I'm afraid I take it with a pinch of salt. None of the other sources which covered the story claimed there was any evidence of sexual assault, the prison service has not confirmed this and Green didn't appear to be charged or convicted for these assaults. As such I find it pretty surprising an organisation which seeks to be seen as credible and represents prisoners would make such certain claims based on a rumour in the right wing press.

Ah yes, the airtight response to the issue of convicted sex offenders being automatically locked in cells with women: 'Yes, but what about what some other random person on the Internet thinks about David Icke?'
Guess that's our argument shut down, ladies.

I don't think it's unreasonable to point out that a podcast someone is advertising on this site is hosted on a far right website.

I am pleased that the question of the 'far right' has come up, so thank you to the poster who raised it.

Whenever I made the decision to make use of a platform, be interviewed by someone, or otherwise involve someone in the work that I do, I apply the following test:

Can I look a female prisoner who is currently being held alongside a TW in the eyes and tell her that I decided not to do something because (insert reasons here)?

Yes, there are some things that would meet that test, meaning that I could look her in the eyes with a clear conscience and tell her that I decided not to do something, which on the face of it could bring valuable publicity. Being interviewed by Sonia Poulton does not meet that test. Neither does being interviewed by Glinner.

If someone else's threshold would be different, I respect that. Please respect where I have set mine.
