I haven't posted on this thread because I'm not knowledgeable enough to add anything. But now I'mposting anyway.

THANK YOU to the women who are taking this to court.

THANK YOU to the women who are keeping us up to date on twitter and on here.

THANK YOU to the people who are explaining and questioning what it means.

THANK YOU to the women who have opened my eyes to this and who have taught me so very very much.

And THANK YOU to all the women who fight this fight and protect the vulnerable.

You are all amazing.

Binglebong Flowers

Do join in anyway. I'm no legal expert myself. We seem to figure stuff out between ourselves.

gardenbird48 · 03/03/2021 20:51

Hear hear Binglebong - I’ve learnt so much from being here - there really are some amazing women that post on here.

We’re gathering some pace now and raising awareness on an ever increasing level.

BlackWaveComing · 03/03/2021 20:52

Just a little bump.

McDuffy · 03/03/2021 20:53

Thank you so much, clever women.

And I wonder if the lack of disruption was because this is just simply indefensible, and they know it.

334bu · 03/03/2021 20:56

Many thanks to those who tweeted the court proceedings
This is such an important issue concerning the most vulnerable of women.

gottakeeponmovin · 03/03/2021 20:59

Place marking

Mollyollydolly · 03/03/2021 21:03

Don't worry about being an expert, when you see some of the crap the experts come up with it's a hell of a boost to your confidence. The brightest minds in the land putting sex offenders in with women ..

Mollyollydolly · 03/03/2021 21:08

Nice tweet from Richard Garside about the JR.

Hopefully daylight will make the difference.

McDuffy · 03/03/2021 21:13

Just seen the cat slinging. Or is it flinging? Either way, it's amusingly basic.

@Mollyollydolly

Judicial Reviews are so important. Arguing on twitter with idiots achieves very little. I love the fact I can donate a tenner and actually help to achieve something real. In the end good sense must win out surely, The ONS dig closes tonight.
Yup. It's why there was a desperate attempt to frame crowd funding as ''bullying'' by certain lobby groups and activists...

They don't want this to happen. They'd love for women who have been sexually assaulted by males in women's prisons to have no access to money to take action.

They'd like lesbians who have been discriminated against to have no access to money to take action.

They'd prefer people, children, who have been medically experimented on without their proper consent to have no access to funding for a legal case.

They don't want people being able to afford court cases to shine a light on all the harmful lies that have been pushed.

More to the point, they don't want their part in it all exposed.

I think they were banking on the average person not being able to afford to challenge them. Allison Bailey has had to raise £150,000! But they underestimated how thoroughly fucked off women, and some men of course, are with all this.

Keep the cases coming!

ValancyRedfern · 03/03/2021 21:29

This thread is so important. Keep up the good work everyone!

ChakaDakotaRegina · 03/03/2021 21:37

This thread has both terrified and cheered me. That they know so little and assume so much.

That there is obvious compassion and care taken by prisons in looking after the needs of the T community (as there should be!) but so little thought or care on the impact it is having on females.

That even our judges haven’t yet cottened on that there is NO REQUIREMENT FOR SURGERY

That a GRC is simultaneously an admin doc and a top secret doc.

That males are moved into the female estate for 2 years in order to get a GRC but we don’t know how many have done this and there is no central record of who has a GRC and we cannot ask. An identity document that you cannot view - convenient that Hmm

AnotherLass · 03/03/2021 21:49

This is a fascinating thread. Thanks guys.

The thing that seems really mad to me is this aspect of not being able to reveal the GRC even to the criminal justice system. Does this mean that criminals can use a GRC to hide a criminal past and get off with lighter sentencing? It can't mean that, because that would be mad. But everything here seems mad.

It would certainly put a new spin on why certain criminal elements might be pushing gender ID.

OvaHere · 03/03/2021 21:53

AnotherLass There was a poster here a while back that repeatedly wrote and asked for clarification around DBS checks. They were unable to clarify in a similar way the MoJ today were unable to clarify anything with certainty. It's not good enough when it comes to safeguarding to just shrug and say "I dunno".

NiceGerbil · 03/03/2021 22:06

I did a search and the BBC don't seem to have reported on this at all.

Has anyone seen it on there?

The metro and the telegraph have.

I'd have thought it would be a pretty big story?!

KeepPrisonsSingleSex · 03/03/2021 22:08

Thanks for so much coverage on this today, both here an on AIBU.
I will post my summary of today's proceedings tomorrow - my brain is just fried....

In the meantime here are details of a letter we wrote that will be published in tomorrow's Telegraph:

BBC covered it on R4 news yesterday, but it got pushed out by Budget today.

The trouble is the prison service are not allowed to collect this data! The GRA makes it illegal except in very few specific circumstances.

I can't find any reference about not collecting data in the GRA. Section 22 talks about not disclosing whether someone has a GRC, but I can't see anything about people not being able to hold the information if they have a legitimate reason for doing so.

Absolutely. When I started discovering the extent of this issue I felt very helpless and alone. It seemed like an insurmountable problem.

Then I discovered this board and the amazing wealth of knowledge, experience and analytical skills of the women on here.

We continually discuss new developments and pick apart evidence and arguments which I have found enormously helpful.

I am now in a position where I have the confidence to knock out letters to the Leader of the House of Commons (calling for the resignation of Penny Mordaunt for making false statements to the House of Commons) and to various Peers in the House of Lords.

We have submitted evidence to various government consultations and written to hundreds of MPs and schools.

I appreciate the opportunity to donate to the growing number of JRs and other court cases - I know I HAVE to act on this and supporting these actions and doing what I can to amplify voices and messages makes me feel like we will make progress.

I worry for the world that my daughters will find when they leave home. At the moment it is worse than I enjoyed growing up (and that wasn’t without its challenges) but I feel better for doing what I can. I am not going to stand by and allow the removal of women’s rights and protections.

I am not anti trans, I am just pro women’s rights.
