I was never keen on Alex Salmond. But seems like there was a joint effort to stitch him up. I'd love to see the downfall of Nicola Sturgeon and her husband. They've got too big for their boots.

MoleSmokes · 11/02/2021 03:26

@CharlieParley

What I should add here is that the Rape Crisis Scotland complaint amounts to "How dare you ask for private messages exchanged by victims!"

And

"How dare you make disparaging remarks about messages exchanged by victims/about victims!"

However, that is not what happened. Committee requested messages exchanged between people holding a particular position in Scotland. They made remarks about them in that function.

They did not know (because the identity of the complainers is protected) that this included all of the complainers.

But thanks to Rape Crisis Scotland we all know that now.

Good grief! Read it. Not linking, for obvious reasons.

That statement was post the day after George Galloway uploaded this video. If he has done the Jigsaw ID, I wonder if he stands by this?

"Now there are many . . . who say things like, "Well 14 women couldn't have made that up". Well it depends who the 14 women were, doesn't it? And if you knew, which you cannot know because of the laws on anonymity, then you'd conclude, as I did long ago and Craig establishes in his affidavits today, that a conspiracy was hatched to send Alex Salmond to prison."

MaudTheInvincible · 12/02/2021 16:14

The name of the SNP member who sent the treat to JC which caused her to need police advice has been published on Twitter by an account called Bridges for Indy.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 12/02/2021 16:30

Is that allowed - people have got into trouble for retweeting ‘named names’. I’m very curious though!

MaudTheInvincible · 12/02/2021 16:52

Well apparently the police are fine with it, but I have to say I'm wary too, so I'm not linking to the video or posts.

ArabellaScott · 12/02/2021 17:26

If it is who they say it is, that is utterly terrifying. Previous convictions. I hope he is put away where he can't hurt or terrorise anyone ever again.

MaudTheInvincible · 12/02/2021 21:01

I guess that contributed to the police assessment that it was a credible threat.

ArabellaScott · 12/02/2021 21:25

Yes, for sure. It just makes it more frightening when you read about this person.

Getting really, really fucked off with how women get so much flack. How do we even have any female politicians? I couldn't handle the stress. Something has to change.

If he's been arrested and charged then anyone claiming he is guilty or revealing information about previous convictions could be in contempt of court and more importantly it could fuck up the prosecution.
MaudTheInvincible · 12/02/2021 21:51

Agree, it must be so stressful and upsetting. My VAWG consultation submission had a bit in it about the aggressive and threatening atmosphere towards women taking part in public discourse as a means of keeping us out of it by making us too frightened to participate fully. It's disgusting.

FacetiousCuntychops · 21/02/2021 19:13

Rather than start a new thread, I believe this is relevant to this thread.

David Paisley (Scottish actor) has called Joanna a transphobe I believe and she has taken action.

Thank you again Joanna for literally standing up and saying enough of this actual literal batshitness.

lionheart · 21/02/2021 21:01

This too. Kirsty Blackman has spoken.

www.theblether.scot/modern-feminism

"I am a woman, I live as a woman, and I dress however I like.

I know how hard won this was. That's why when we hear 'Gender Critical' individuals talking about 'proper women' or 'real women' I am gravely worried. Policing what women wear or what they look like is drawn directly from the 1950s my Granny finished school in.

Absolutely, biology is real, but it is not possible to tell what chromosomes or genitals someone has by looking at them. I do not believe there should be restrictions on how to 'woman'."

BlackForestCake · 21/02/2021 21:22

Cherry denies the story, says she has not taken legal action.

It is hotting up in the SNP. Cherry, Kenny McAskill and Chris McEleny will probably be expelled.

BlackForestCake · 21/02/2021 21:23

As for Blackman's article, either she doesn't understand the GC position or she is deliberately misrepresenting it.

FacetiousCuntychops · 21/02/2021 21:34

Kirsty has tweeted about this article and the comments I can see agree with you Blackforestcake. Someone has sent her JKR's statement too. I also found it a confusing piece.

I couldn't give a fuck how anyone dresses. But there has to be protections for women including refuges, prisons and sport.

David Paisley has the letter on his Twitter page and his twitter's supporters seem to have it in for the law firm too.

littlbrowndog · 21/02/2021 22:13

Jeez she gets paid for this 💃💃😂😂😂

Total,fud

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/02/2021 22:20

This is an idiotic take.

MissBarbary · 21/02/2021 22:28

@BlackForestCake

Why did Salmond’s many political enemies never bring his allegedly well-known sexpestiness up while he was first minister?
Because "freedom" and he was the big man who was going to deliver it.

He failed abysmally. I actually felt sorry, briefly, for Sturgeon on the morning after when he went into hiding and left her to face the press.

MissBarbary · 21/02/2021 22:45

I'm blocked by Paisley despite having never tweeted anything ever let alone interacted with him. I see when I log out he's suggesting Brodies are "lawyering wrong"

I can't be bothered explaining why he is wrong but he is wrong.

Cherry did her traineeship with Brodies. Brodies is (are?) one of the top legal firms in Scotland.

StrangeTunes · 21/02/2021 23:48

I’ve read that Kirsty Blackman piece twice and I just can’t compute. Clothes and how we dress - that’s what it all comes down to. The choice to wear skirts and heels or slob around in jeans - that’s the grand prize of Feminism? And it’s the clothes and dress itself so people who aren’t women can dress ‘as’ women and ‘be’ women. And how marvellous this is. Gender non-conforming turns into sex non-conforming - swap the words sex and gender around so much it becomes a slight of hand and while you’re being deliberately distracted, whoosh, your Rights have disappeared.

It’s like at the very precise point in her argument where there should be understanding, it just slips through her fingers and a completely illogical conclusion is reached instead. You don’t have to be constrained like my 90 year old Granny in her twin-set and pearls world - anyone can now be a woman and live in harmony. Or something like that. The main conclusion seems to be ‘aren’t I a lovely person and don’t we live in a fantastic world where you can dress how you like, and declare yourself any sex you want.

Cailleach1 · 22/02/2021 10:11

Well a phrase by Mary Wollstonecraft comes to mind. Paraphrasing - it appears to me that Kirsty Blackman's doesn't have a very ambitious view of the fruits of female emancipation. Her (or him/they, don't want to misgender) is fairly limited and limiting. It appears to me she/he/they/furrybeastie thinks the great leap is that we get the enormous freedom to decorate ourselves and our cages how we want. We can wear jeans OR skirts and put up blue curtains (not just pink). Such freedoms make me dizzy! Their vision of smashing the patriarchy bring a tear to my eye.

I particularly love the bit where adults of the future can marry a man, they can marry a woman OR they can marry someone who is non binary.
