Eddie Izzard...

Has announced new pronouns.

Again, apologies if this is being discussed already.

"They're not women's clothes, they're my clothes" seems to have been lost in the mists of time.

@RedToothBrush

He is buncing.
His brain is “coded”?

Could he be more desperate to be relevant again?

HecatesCats · 01/01/2021 23:17

@RedToothBrush

He is buncing.
He's trolling
BuncingBoobily · 01/01/2021 23:22

I have it on good authority that Eddie sometimes goes by “Suzy” these days.

I think this “brain coding” business is hideously regressive and misogynistic.

Like the rest of Izzard’s performance of “femininity”/“girl mode” etc.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 01/01/2021 23:27

It’s never Maude or Doris is it?

HopeClearwater · 02/01/2021 00:37

It’s never Maude or Doris is it?

Something tells me that Eddie will never want to identify as an old lady. Let’s face it, he’s over 50 now yet thinks he can do ‘girl mode’.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/01/2021 00:50

Something tells me that Eddie will never want to identify as an old lady.

Eddie should surely be an Edna or Evadne, but I suppose those names have already been taken.

Clymene · 02/01/2021 01:18

Izzard is a month off turning 59. Very long away away from 50. To be fair, I'm in my late 50s and I have no friends called Edna, Maude, Doris or Evadne.

Women of my generation are called Lisa, Angela, Jane and Nicola

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 02:06

Aggie surely?

It has to be. Girl mode. Lesbian.

So A Gay Girl In Eddie.

Though Saggie might fit too. It certainly fits me and we are not too dissimilar in age.

Not girl mode territory at all. Guy mode certainly. Man speaks and we must listen to what they want/are/need.

@RedToothBrush

He is buncing.
I'm thinking of:

“Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)”.

And Mr.Mybug's "Let me warn you: I'm a queer, moody brute, but there's rich soil in here if you care to dig for it." from Cold Comfort Farm.

I notice that few people 'out' themselves as uninteresting, one-dimensional entities. Odd that.

Defaultname · 02/01/2021 02:13

Humph. Mybug said "Let we warn you".

Defaultname · 02/01/2021 02:14

Yikes! It's after 2 a.m.

Hilda or Evadne, surely?
Mnusernc · 02/01/2021 07:31

Does anyone have the telegraph article?

BraveBananaBadge · 02/01/2021 09:10

It’s something of a relief that (by the sound of it) Eddie doesn’t intend to be the pronoun police here. They can leave that to social media. Hopefully it means they aren’t completely deluded on the issue - be interesting to read the whole article and finally get it in Eddie’s own words.

Beamur · 02/01/2021 10:11

Call me a cynic, but 'coded both ways' sounds a lot like 'cake and eating it'. (With apologies to a West Yorkshire feminist group for using that analogy).

NonnyMouse1337 · 02/01/2021 10:23

Does anyone have the telegraph article?
Here is a link to it.

what's buncing pls

TundraDweller · 02/01/2021 10:28

I assumed it meant behaving in same way as Philip / Pips Bunce but not sure

OldCrone · 02/01/2021 10:29

Buncing is a reference to Philip Bunce, who occasionally puts on a dress for work and changes his name to 'Pippa' or 'Pips' and this makes him eligible for women's awards.

RedToothBrush · 02/01/2021 10:33

@highame

what's buncing pls
Being a woman on days there are all woman short lists?
Defaultname · 02/01/2021 13:24

@highame

You must have heard it in old movies. "It's a buncing baby boy!!.

It means you have to buy two sets of blankets, rattles, potties, etc. (Blue and pink on alternate days).

Defaultname · 02/01/2021 13:31

Good God. I see there's a pre-established definition of 'buncing'...
"The insertion of an unlubricated cabbage or Iceberg lettuce into one's anus."

Hadn't realised there was an established name for this; we've always used a family one.

Gives "Finish your sprouts" a whole new meaning.

Sevillemarmalade · 02/01/2021 14:20

On the subject of buncing, I was interested to note that the blue and gold outfit Eddie is wearing in the Telegraph piece isn't a dress. It's a dressing gown.

It's all just about getting a boner in public, isn't it?

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 02/01/2021 14:43

@FuriousAndFrustrated

Has Eddie actually said that they consider themselves to be a woman? Or are we just assuming it from the female pronouns, "girl mode," long hair and buxom figure?

I want to say something on social media, but want to get my facts straight as I have some sanctimonious libfem friends who will be all over me if I get it wrong!

I believe they are using gender fluid as their identity. Just saw somewhere that Eddie is ok with whatever pronouns.
MichelleofzeResistance · 02/01/2021 14:50

I get the impression from today's article that having dipped a toe, EI is backtracking a little.
