Has announced new pronouns.

Again, apologies if this is being discussed already.

"They're not women's clothes, they're my clothes" seems to have been lost in the mists of time.

@PickleC

I gave up on Eddie after telling the story about awful, bullying, nasty teenage girls who queried why he was in the ladies toilets.

Or in other words young girls who had every right to feel threatened/uncomfortable when a much older person of the opposite sex was changing in sex specific facilities in which they should have felt absolutely safe

The lack of empathy was chilling.

Completely agree
Clymene · 01/01/2021 12:43

Someone on twitter said to me that Eddie has worked very hard to become a woman and that should be respected.

I mean that's a bizarre notion isn't it? That womenhood is an award that will be given out if you work hard enough.

As for the bloke on the BBC, Izzard's website uses male pronouns. I'd forgotten his mum died when he was 6 and then he was promptly shipped off to boarding school. Early trauma is often present isn't it?

HecatesCats · 01/01/2021 12:51

@Jintyfer

Oh dear. Charlie is for it.

When did Eddie's boobs appear? Has he had feminisation surgery to his face too?

I don't think Eddie is going to be entirely helpful to the cause beyond the Twitterverse.

I supose that that could be what Woman of the Year might mean. Some women (and men) only sorta Woman, but others do it really, really, well.

Maybe schools could give prizes for boys and girls who epitomise what it means to be female. (Looks would count for a lot).

Notts2021 · 01/01/2021 12:57

Isn't it possible that if you're a person without any knowledge of women's history, or women's rights, then all this talk about privilege and oppression would go over your head?

It's not about that. You don't need any knowledge of women's history to know that a man isn't a woman.

They may say they believe someone is a woman because they identify as one, but absolutely everyone knows it isn't true.

That's why they don't want to be around women who speak the truth, because the truth is always more powerful than a lie.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 01/01/2021 12:58

Working at being a woman? working??? No it really doesn’t work like that.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/01/2021 13:04

“Worked very hard to become a woman” .
What on earth does that mean ?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2021 13:06

Everyone knows whether someone is a woman or not when they're thinking about procreation (or its avoidance).

Appropriating the word woman to mean something else (an undefined 'something' at that) makes no difference to that reality.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 01/01/2021 13:12

I bet Louis will not believe Eddie is the sort of woman he would have sex with though....

QueenoftheAir · 01/01/2021 13:13

Women work very hard. And are then paid on average 15% less than men.

I wonder which charity EI will donate their pay cut to?

You can work part-time as a woman. It's called 'buncing'.

You can do piece-rate. If you're packing a piece.

You can do zero-hours contracts at being a woman. If you're a man.

The possibilities are endless. Just avoid doing any man-hours.

HecatesCats · 01/01/2021 13:27

You may have to work at it but at least you don't have to think quite as hard when womaning, it's all picking out twirly skirts, gossip and chatting about lippy shades.

Gurufloof · 01/01/2021 13:34

I've heard others say that being a woman is like 'love' - you can't put it into words but you know it when you know it

There are definitions of love though. Look it up?

lionheart · 01/01/2021 13:34

Le femme.

www.elle.com/life-love/a28374/transgender-class-le-femme/

'Wearing bright, Crayola-colored dresses and five-inch heels, eight perfectly coiffed women sit across from each other, their legs demurely crossed to the side, and begin debating the merits of diesel fuel over natural gas for 18-gear freightliner trucks—while deciding on the easiest way to get in and out of one in a short skirt. "You step up onto the board runner," says Andrea, 49, a former construction worker and tractor trailer driver. "Then you sit down, knees together, and swing your legs inside the car."'

Daydrambeliever · 01/01/2021 13:41

Did anyone see Eddie on the Portrait Artist of the year? He talked about being gender fluid and the presenter used female pronouns. At one point, however, Eddie (talking about himself in a self-deprecating fashion)said, "Does he even have a chin?".

TyroTerf · 01/01/2021 13:46

Massive Attack springs to mind - 'love is a verb, love is a doing word'.

I think we can safely say that 'woman' is only a verb if you're sexist.

I'm sure I'd better at womaning if I was given free make up a la Eddie. See the MAC tag on the IE website.

EwwSprouts · 01/01/2021 13:52

Default 'buncing' GrinGrin

It's all about the looks in a very old-fashioned sexist way. Skirt + long hair + tits = woman. I really think it's that simple with most people. On top of that we now have the Emperor's New Clothes with women like Alex Drummond and their magnificent beard. Genderists can't doubt Alex's womanhood, because that would be admitting the superficiality of the whole thing.

But you'll never be expected to do hard labour.

buncing
Excellent Star

The people who nominated Bunce for that women's business award - what were they thinking? Did they see a female soul and gender essence, or... skirt, long hair and boobs?

Doyoumind · 01/01/2021 14:11

What I think is extremely telling is that even many of those who congratulate EI on twitter still can't bring themselves to use female pronouns and either use 'Eddie' or completely avoid pronouns in order to get around it, much as we are compelled to do here to avoid deletion.

NoCurrentConvictions · 01/01/2021 14:14

Is anyone watching the livestream of his make humanity great again run?

Just joined to hear him saying the only difference between men and women is testosterone.
