Has announced new pronouns.

Again, apologies if this is being discussed already.

"They're not women's clothes, they're my clothes" seems to have been lost in the mists of time.

Oh, he's another one who wants to destroy women's sports? Ffs.

@NoCurrentConvictions

Is anyone watching the livestream of his make humanity great again run?

Just joined to hear him saying the only difference between men and women is testosterone.

Right, so if you give females increased testosterone they magically become males? And reducing testosterone in men makes them female?

For a supposedly intelligent person, Izzard is coming across as a complete fucking imbecile.

Odense · 01/01/2021 14:34

Someone on twitter said to me that Eddie has worked very hard to become a woman and that should be respected

This reminds me of the Friendzone thing. The males that seem to believe if you are NICE to a woman, she owes you sex. Similarly if you work at Womaning, you get to be one..

Coz we aren’t people, innit?

EwwSprouts · 01/01/2021 14:36

If Charlie Stayt is worrying about use of language this might help

All the people in the photo are "guys" ?

Irritating though it is to listen to, sex based biological differences, in terms of physical power, have been well and truly established, as asserted by world rugby. Eventually.

Everybody knows it's not merely about testosterone.

And very many people participated in the discussion.

Eddie has completely mistimed his announcement. Missed the Zeitgeist, has fallen behind the curve, and is nailing his colours to the wrong mast entirely.

Not only is it incorrect, it looks uninformed and driven by transparent self interest.

As ever, I'd be only too happy to accord Eddie a platform.

I still follow EI on twitter, there's been no update to bio on the new identity but says that EI thinks like an American. Maybe a fan of projection and generalising?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2021 15:45

says that EI thinks like an American

Wtf does that mean? Stereotyping the whole of a large and markedly heterogenous country?Confused

Biscuitsanddoombar · 01/01/2021 16:01

like an american

Which ones would those be? My American friend who voted Democrat or her husband who worships trump? (It’s been a fun few months for them!)

Besides wasnt Eddie all about being European?

QueenoftheAir · 01/01/2021 16:02

I've heard people argue that transactivism is just like one big incel men's movement.

Continent. Or rather continents. From the lumberjacks of the frozen north, to fishermen off Cape Horn to the south.

"Among the Mexica, commonly known as the Aztecs, there was a cultural memory of running as a ritual activity...
....Paina and its variants appears 38 times in the twelve volumes of the Florentine Codex. It has the basic meaning of to run fast or run lightly. " www.mexicolore.co.uk/aztecs/home/the-art-of-aztec-running

so there may be cultural memory at work.

At the very, least, I've found another approximate rhyme for ;vagina', which could be useful.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/01/2021 16:25

The fragrant Alex Drummond, whose glorious femininity is not hampered by getting his hands oily when fixing a car, because “women can fix cars too ! “

ArabellaScott · 01/01/2021 16:51

You can work part-time as a woman. It's called 'buncing'.

You can do piece-rate. If you're packing a piece.

You can do zero-hours contracts at being a woman. If you're a man.

The possibilities are endless. Just avoid doing any man-hours.

Grin Genius.

And there's no chance of any actual labour, of course, the most womanly work of all.

despairenting · 01/01/2021 16:58

@NoCurrentConvictions

Ah yes, women with PCOS are men! Once their testosterone starts approaching typically male concentrations, they can literally impregnate women without PCOS! Hmm

There are literally thousands of biological differences between men and women. It's not all about the testosterone and everyone knows that.

despairenting · 01/01/2021 16:58

@NoCurrentConvictions

Just to be clear, being snarky at EI and not you!

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 01/01/2021 17:49

It would seem you have to have a member to be a member of new womanhood.

The only difference is testosterone?

All this says to me that you need plenty of testosterone to be a fanny rather than to have one.

PamDenick · 01/01/2021 17:53

hahahahaha!

Re: Alex Drummond, interestingly their counsellingdirectory profile describes their highest level qualification as an MSc

www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellor_6484.html

But here they describe themselves as a psychologist www.grrlalex.co.uk/what-is-transgender/

Is it possible to identify into having a doctorate? I guess so.

MajesticWhine · 01/01/2021 18:36

It's a little disingenuous but psychologist is not a protected title, only the various types of psychologist - e.g. You couldn't call yourself a clinical psychologist. But anyone call themselves psychologist.

Ah, but could they spell it?

One way to stop people self-identifying is to find another, less pleasant-sounding word for 'woman'.

I couldn't really see loads of blokes anxious to be asked, "When did you realise you were a prat?", or "What would you say was the most prattish thing about you?".

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2021 19:03

Anybody can call themselves a counsellor or therapist too, as far as I'm aware. BPS list of chartered psychologists has three people called Drummond, none of them with the first name Alex.

It would be against BACP code of ethics for someone who had counselling qualifications to represent themselves as a psychologist.

Let's hope that's not the case here.

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/01/2021 19:30

How does an American think? Confused

This is the kind of nonsense Izzard used to take the mickey out of.

Here it is

Eddie Izzard...
FuriousAndFrustrated · 01/01/2021 22:59

Has Eddie actually said that they consider themselves to be a woman? Or are we just assuming it from the female pronouns, "girl mode," long hair and buxom figure?

I want to say something on social media, but want to get my facts straight as I have some sanctimonious libfem friends who will be all over me if I get it wrong!

RedToothBrush · 01/01/2021 23:09

He is buncing.
