Has announced new pronouns.

Again, apologies if this is being discussed already.

"They're not women's clothes, they're my clothes" seems to have been lost in the mists of time.

@NeurotreeWenceslas

I'm quite enjoying the LACK of fawning from a number of respected female comedians.
I'd imagine it's because they're still pissed off that according to PAotY Eddie Izzard was one of the leading female comedians of their generation.

They will all be inwardly going no Eddie, shut up eddie, ffs.

Just like happened over brexit.

Its rather glorious tbh.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 22/12/2020 08:53

Would love to be in a private room with some of them.

Would also love to see who might squeeze it into their sets.

If any dare.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 22/12/2020 08:54

Actually, I notice a number are doing non narcissistic stuff such as Sarah Millican, who's running (?) promoting #joinin for the 10th year.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 22/12/2020 08:56

Good campaign idea, if everyone actively rt or shares 10 female comedians today, that would be awesome.

Username642243 · 22/12/2020 08:59

Has anyone mentioned the marathon running yet?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 22/12/2020 09:22

No that actually very impressive act isn’t quite so amazing to some as this.

PotholeParadies · 22/12/2020 09:25

Now that was brave.

I was worried at the time that EI would die. I can't believe Eddie plans to do it again for January.

EdgeOfACoin · 22/12/2020 09:26

I think if Izzard gets a place on a Labour AWS and wins a female comedian of the year award, it would be great. The publicity would truly shine a light on this cause. I expect many female comedians would be very happy to see an award granted to someone so deserving, who has managed overcome the problems typically faced by female comedians everywhere. (Sidenote: weren't they once called comediennes?)

I, for one, wish Eddie Izzard the very best of success in her future endeavours.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 22/12/2020 09:27

I think they were called ‘funny girls’ surely?

TinselAngel · 22/12/2020 09:40

Or the other celebrity who also used to do this?

Um, no....

Passmeabottlemrjones · 22/12/2020 09:43

Surely even the likes of Stella Creasey and maybe even Lisa Nandy would be a bit Hmm if Eddie won some kind of Labour political office via an AWS.

Not Angela Rayner though - she would be cheering Eddie on I'm sure! What ever happened to her 'rising star' Lily Madigan?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 22/12/2020 09:47

Sorry Errol that an attempt at sarcasm.

I look forward to, and welcome Eddie Izzard to an all woman shortlist and be selected.

It genuinely would be the funniest thing izzard has done in years and watching all the women in senior Labour positions stand there cringing and flapping with gold fished mouths.

I would count off the days until there was an almighty internal row.

It will be properly funny to watch.

(of course id rather they all come to their fucking senses first but if they are goung to let it run, i will be there howling at it with the popcorn).

The genuinely cant pick a better trans candidate than Izzard for this spectacle.

Beamur · 22/12/2020 09:57

If EI has always been a girl, will their times in the marathons be revised into where they were placed against other women?

Plussizejumpsuit · 22/12/2020 10:02

I'm normally supportive of trans people. But the being in girl mode phrase she used offended me. I've never like her though so it probably my anti Eddie Izzard prejudice!

BTW I don't like her because I think all that running is really attion seeking. But I will respect Pronouns, although I can't imagine I'll be writing or talking about Eddie izzard much!!

QueenoftheAir · 22/12/2020 10:27

There are more than a few easily accessible online articles where Grayson Perry explains dressing up "as a woman" is sexually thrilling for him

@BlueMoonGlint hmmm I'm never sure what I think about that - are we all being cajoled into his thrills? But I suppose so much of male sexuality is conditioned/socialised to fixate on the idea of a woman in one way or another - rarely does that idea bear much realistic relation to real women ... think of so-called "lesbian porn," for example, which (so I gather) is made for men.

But at least Grayson Perry is clear about it, and not pretending he's "really" a woman.

Wandawomble · 22/12/2020 10:30

To quote Magdalen Berns “Oh f*ck off you wanker!”
I don’t understand why lesbians are tolerating this anymore.

PotholeParadies · 22/12/2020 11:05

Lesbians are shouting. Trouble is, they can shout as loud as they want, but they're hampered by being female and homosexual. People don't hear women they don't want to hear. Or see them protesting at Pride.

Online, they get blocked and banned, and if they speak up in RL under their real names? Well we know how unwise that is.

I kind of want Eddie to go on an AWS just because I want to see what happens. Would Eddie win an election in a seat that wasn't rock solid Labour?

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/12/2020 11:18

There's a sort of lesbian that can say and demand what they want and everyone respects them and listens to them and worries about pleasing and including them and how they feel and what they need.

There's a sort of lesbian that gets told to shut up, do what they're told, their feelings and needs don't matter, they should only care about pleasing and including the other sort of lesbian, and they can fuck off (add death threats) if they don't.

One of these things is not like the other. Although those in favour of this iniquity would insist that you can't tell the difference between these two groups at all because sex is a spectrum/some women have penises etc etc. Although they have no trouble at all in knowing which lesbian fits in which group when it comes to actual, functional interaction.

There is just not enough glue in the world to deal with having to live with this.

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 22/12/2020 11:26

OMG tinsel that made shudder!

QueenoftheAir · 22/12/2020 11:29

Sadly, I think you are underestimating both the cognitive dissonance of the Labour Party on trans issues and their desire for Twitter's approval. They have already lined up to welcome Lily M and Heather Peto. They would bloody love be tweeting out fan-girl messages to EI, as their super-inclusive new candidate with a frosting of celebrity stardust. Imagine the retweet count..

It might not win them back many Red Wall voters, but who cares about them when you're getting SM likes from blue-haired teenagers in Seattle?

Schehezarade · 22/12/2020 12:47

Tricky for the labour party, or any other party, to choose a candidate who is she/was he/ could change tomorrow and risks perhaps annoying would be voters who are not particularly pro new genders.
