Time for a new thread. Please can someone c&p the header post? (Am on phone.)

I suspected that there were attempts to get that one removed - third one now

SophocIestheFox · 11/12/2020 16:09

Oh for fucks SAKE I was literally just in the middle of pointing out that the police thread was so derailed it was 100% going to get pulled...when it got pulled.

Unusual new tactic used there, IMO.

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 11/12/2020 16:12

Yes. Lots of useful and important information about public services on that thread. Why those tactics are allowed to undermine important conversations I really don't understand.

Winesalot · 11/12/2020 16:22

Well, I am confused. New poster set on telling us off (seeming to not realise the tone set by their first couple of posts) , when in the end the poster agrees with much of what the topic was about. We just got to point of moving back to topic and ... gone!! Just as I was about to post. I hope that they put it back up but I doubt it.

PotholeParadies · 11/12/2020 16:27

Clearly is being deleted here because it's not a feminist issue.

Actually, agree. Whether UK is continuing to follow a policing by consent model is a wider issue, and should be in chat or AIBU.

SophocIestheFox · 11/12/2020 16:37

Problem is, you can’t win on that either, potholes because a bunch of posters will pop up to say that avoiding “vile transphobia” is why they keep the feminism topic hidden, and we should all fuck off back here.

ItsLateHumpty · 11/12/2020 22:25

Well that’s disappointing.

MN say
“This thread has derailed somewhat from the initial discussion and is drawing a lot of reports. We're taking it down to go through the posts.”

Which is kinda no shit Sherlock, of course some people don’t want some subjects to be bought to a wider audience, but derailing is pretty much standard on any thread on MN and not a reason to pull a thread, and reports should be ignored if posts aren’t breaking FWR / MN talk guidelines.

Or do we have new guidelines that we have to guess now? Hmm

I hope that once the posts have been gone through, MN reinstate the thread.

It’s not like the OP went looking for a contentious subject - this information was put into the public domain, I’m assuming for comment, and we are commenting much more constructively than I’ve seen on the media that broke the story.

MichelleofzeResistance · 12/12/2020 10:09

Posting here is becoming rather like trying to navigate the Hogwarts staircases. Things constantly move around, are only work as you expect on the second Tuesday of months with an R in them, and frequently disappear altogether.

Fun being female and wanting equality with males, isn't it?

EdgeOfACoin · 12/12/2020 10:26

I wandered over into AIBU yesterday. I rarely venture there.

Gosh, it's a bit more forthright than FWR, isn't it? Personal discussions of famous people - generalisations all over the place - it's like a different forum!

I see we're being attacked by zombies today on here. Best ignore them and avoid being eaten altogether.

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/12/2020 11:10

And as its Saturday expect a couple of frequent flyers to pop in later to goad comment

CrapDogOwner · 12/12/2020 13:47

I see we have a new influx of the wide-eyed "gee, just asking."

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 13/12/2020 08:56

There's a lot of it about this weekend

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 13/12/2020 12:36

I don't think I've ever posted here (frequently NC) but I'm fed up of all the questions based thread. Problem is I get sucked in. Must do better. Aargh. (Okay, I won't post again probably). Thank you. As you were.

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 13/12/2020 12:50

"..frequent flyers.."

😂

2Rebecca · 13/12/2020 13:24

Only realised the point of this thread last week. Had previously ignored it as the title made no sense to me. Useful, point taken, will focus my posting and avoid posting on zombie threads.

EyesOpening · 15/12/2020 00:03

Another thread gone tonight and I’m trying to figure out which one

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 16/12/2020 08:03

Is it time for carols yet? I’m feeling the Xmas spirit.

nauticant · 16/12/2020 15:16

The posting on one of the latest "tell me about" threads seems to be about one particular poster getting gratification from being successfully goady rather than engaging in any real sense. It gives me a sense of uneasiness.

Winesalot · 16/12/2020 15:59

It is quite something isn't it naut?

MedusasBadHairDay · 16/12/2020 16:08

Oh they're still going are they?

nauticant · 16/12/2020 16:09

It is shouting the word [--] at me. In particular, that they're a tomboy transgirl who, by means of passing, forces women to unwittingly accept them. This was the point it moved from uneasy to nauseating.

MedusasBadHairDay · 16/12/2020 16:13

Yeah, "forces" is an interesting word choice. Whether that's an unintentionally revealing choice of word, or a deliberate choice, neither says anything good.

Winesalot · 16/12/2020 16:34

But Medusa, they have shown exactly how much respect they have for anyone else. At least they are upfront. I doubt it was not a deliberate choice when you look at their other posts.

nauticant · 16/12/2020 16:46

I think they're being relatively honest too. One of the posters who push further and further to see how far things they can make things go while people are still trying to engage.

midgebabe · 16/12/2020 17:56

Do you think they are actually ok? Mentally?
