I’m finding it very interesting watching posters of this parish out in the wilds of Aibu. More sunlight....

Oooh mum while I remember you can re use the sloe berries in a new bottle of gin, they will just be slightly weaker

You can also make sloe port apparently, ive a recipe that i don’t remember where ive put it and I haven’t tasted it yet, so not any help there

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2021 23:36

Cripes we are breaking free again into AIBU

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2021 23:41

See, I like fruits in gin, soft summer fruits especially. But sloes are not fruits, they are tiny suckbombs.

littl, someone sounded a bugle. Smile

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2021 23:42

We are like wee rats scampering into an open drain

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 06/02/2021 23:44

Shove a shitload of sugar on em and they taste heaps better

Thats true for most things in life ive found

nauticant · 06/02/2021 23:54

Just looked at the first couple of pages of the Stonewall thread in AIBU. It is magnificent.

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2021 23:55

But what are you drinking, nauticant?

I've archived, fwiw.

nauticant · 07/02/2021 00:06

I was drinking a delicious heavy Australian shiraz but the bottle stopped working so am now off to bed. Good night.

Dalyesque · 07/02/2021 12:12

AIBU is the place to be...the politician one is also very revealing.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/02/2021 15:54

I am slightly surprised that a post which asked whether someone had gone yet has been removed: I really can't see how that is against the spirit. After all, it might be motivated by not wanting to get into a squabble.

ArabellaScott · 07/02/2021 17:07

Weekend special rules, perhaps.

CharlieParley · 07/02/2021 19:55

Is it just me or is the AIBU Stonewall thread poll result an encouraging sight to see?

I haven't read it yet, but my initial reaction to the question was ooh, that's surely a difficult question, because too few people know what's going on.

But out of ~1300 votes, 90% have gone to YANBU.

The only way we will successfully defend our rights in law is by raising public awareness. Given that the Stonewall question is at least a level or two above the changing room one, this gives me hope.

ArabellaScott · 07/02/2021 19:59

Not just you, Charlie. Smile

CharlieParley · 07/02/2021 21:33

I mean it could easily be people voting who object to children being taught about homosexuality and same-sex parents, but the responses are challenging Stonewall because it is itself now taking a position that can only reasonably be described as homophobic (besides its anti-science stance and misogyny).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/02/2021 21:43

If they think that's what Stonewall give advice about they're rather behind the times!

Winesalot · 07/02/2021 21:52

Actually, the posters who are explaining why are well versed and researched and not regulars on FWR. It is heartening to see and as I keep saying, blows away the argument that majority of women disagree that there are any issues and all but our small minority go along with what is happening.

It is being shown across different topics to be consistent. Mn posters may not like To post on FWR but they are well read across different sources.

CharlieParley · 07/02/2021 23:16

Just to get back to the Bunbury's thread's topic for a second - coming into such a lively thread so late allows you to see the derails much more clearly.

There's the bold claim that saying A about B is actionable. Much space is then given to discussing how this could possibly be actionable. But no one actually said A about B at all. I've just gone over each post leading up to the bold claim, and indeed, no one said this.

It was an effective tactic though.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/02/2021 00:56

Yes I did try to point this out when the bold claim was made.

MissBarbary · 08/02/2021 01:33

Excuse me, I don't often post on this thread as I don't think it's the place for me, but does anyone have any recipes for cassava root?

And, exactly how poisonous is it if you get it wrong?

It's been sitting on the counter for a week now. I can't find anything online which looks remotely tempting.

PotholeParadies · 08/02/2021 01:38

Can it be prepared in any of the same ways as potato? My go-to with unfamiliar root vegetables is to serve it with potato in the same way.
