Just waving, as I've made my way onto first bunbury thread Smile . Thanks @Wines for the signpost. I have never followed online conversation in the way I followed those threads. It is a time consuming and tiring occupation. And frustrating then if they just vanish. Sorry to hear it turned weird. I do think a lot light was shone.

picklemewalnuts · 04/02/2021 15:49

I've been asked for sanpro and have on occasion asked. Not strings though. Far too inhibited to do sports/swimming on a period. Far too inhibited to look at others. I'd imagine team swimmers who swim throughout the month would have more occasion to notice.

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 15:51

Welcome Joody.

There is some interesting recipes here to be shared on occasion too!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/02/2021 15:53

Happened when I was at a boarding school, because girls under sixteen were not allowed to buy Tampax at the school shop so they would ask an older girl to let them have one if they were swimming in a competition or something of the sort and the box they'd brought from home at the beginning of term had run out.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2021 16:43

That sounds like a pretty unusual situation, asking ... and hopefully one that no longer would apply anywhere.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/02/2021 16:58

Well, there were no male-bodied persons present, because at that point men under eighteen couldn't decide to be women and have anyone validate their choice so they couldn't go to a single-sex boarding-school. So I suppose unusual by present-day standards. And yes, the absurd "Tampax might break your hymen" garbage has thankfully died out along with the failure to realise that so might trampolining or riding a bicycle....

DaisiesandButtercups · 04/02/2021 17:50

@Biscuitsanddoombar

With reference to a new thread is it just me who has never been asked for and never asked for sanpro in a changing room or noticed strings from other people? Am I hugely unpopular with bad eyesight to boot!
I have once in my life noticed a tampon string and found the courage to quietly mention it on the basis that I would hope another woman would do the same for me.

I am saying this but I don’t know which thread is being discussed here, not that it matters.

Datun · 04/02/2021 17:58

Not personally seen a tampon string. But, often, there will be one woman who is not, let's say, in the least bit shy. And in an all female environment, why the hell not.

Datun · 04/02/2021 18:02

I've had an answer from Michael, by the way, they don't think that poster is Lang, but they do think they're a PBP.

DaisiesandButtercups · 04/02/2021 18:05

I should say the string was coming from the swimming costume of the woman concerned and we were waiting to go into the pool at the beginning of a session.

Women should be free to be completely naked getting changed. It can be a total faff to keep parts covered whilst wrangling one child, chasing another and dry to sort yourself out!

Even without children, women should be able to feel comfortable changing and not have to worry about being momentarily naked in women’s changing rooms.

testingmitb · 04/02/2021 20:11

Just landed here after deciding not to post on that thread. Very used to communal single sex changing facilities where I live in Scandinavia. It was a bit of a culture shock at first, but over the years I have come to embrace them. It is refreshing to see women of all ages and shapes and sizes just changing and showering with no inhibitions (or performance!) . I feel it is very positive experience for my daughters to see the variety of womanhood (but have to remind them it is not polite to gawp). I only cringe now if I myopically spot someone I know which is when I feel a bit awkward. But it is great being able to whip my clothes of to shower and change without having to do the dance of a thousand towels.

This for me too. I went to physio in the pool for a while, so mostly filled with older women with different shaped bodies and various scars, none of whom were remotely ashamed, which I found thoroughly refreshing.

testingmitb · 04/02/2021 20:44

I have scars from c-sections and breast surgery and I have found it, well, empowering to be naked amongst women who look like women, not those to be found in Hollywood movies, fashion magazines and social media clickbait. It's weird because we have self-ID here but I cannot imagine how that would pan out in reality if some self-ID'd person decided to come into the women's changing area. I think there would be uproar.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/02/2021 20:53

I think it would be more likely to be a silence, and very few people there the following session.

Collidascope · 05/02/2021 13:13

Not sure why school shooter thread from over two years ago has been brought back. That poster has brought another thread back to life too. Hmm.

nauticant · 05/02/2021 13:55

Do you think that being in a society that's more communitarian than individualistic means that people are less likely to take the piss testingmitb?

testingmitb · 05/02/2021 14:21

nauticant I think you are probably right. We have 'Samfundssind' and it does mean that everything is done 'for the greater good' (said in your best Hot Fuzz voice). I just can't imagine anyone taking the piss in imposing themselves to the discomfort of others. But the area we are in is rural and dominated by agriculture and fishing and I can't imagine anyone entertaining the idea in the first place. Maybe things are different in the big smoke, but here there is definite order in the way things are done and how people conduct themselves.

AnyOldPrion · 05/02/2021 21:20

There was a case in Norway where a woman objected to an obviously male body in her changing room. It went to court. Link to judgement below.

I’m not sure that silence would be the first reaction. It’s still somewhat sexist here, but better than the UK and women are rather more used to their rights at least being taken into account. That said, Norway also recently introduced legislation that made correctly sexing people illegal. Presumably it would require malice and not simply error, but it’s a worrying progression.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/02/2021 21:43

Oh dear; I have grandchildren growing up in Norway.

Kettlingur · 06/02/2021 16:02

Someone seems to be bumping very old threads. Interestingly, bumping a thread about trans children by lamenting that in Texas a transwoman needs to use the men's even if they have super high heels and 38D boobage.

JoodyBlue · 06/02/2021 17:34

is it due to the continuing threads in aibu drawing attention do you think?

picklemewalnuts · 06/02/2021 17:35

Almost as though heels and boobs are not what makes someone female.

Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 06/02/2021 21:43

Does anyone have a recipe for sloe gin?

Also, noticed my thread about a senior member of the woke elite possibly agreeing with some of the points mn has; has been hijacked by the same person, now posting random graphic detailed content Hmm

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2021 21:44

I am a bit befuddled by historical meat tenderising, Mumofgirls, is that the one you mean?

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2021 21:45

Recipe for sloe gin:

Buy bottle of Buckfast. Drink.
