MaudTheInvincible · 03/02/2021 11:31

Wtf? Fucking hell

terryleather · 03/02/2021 11:32

Gawd forbid we should have some much needed light relief ffs!!! Angry

Joisanofthedales · 03/02/2021 11:39

I was going to make the marmalade cake today. 😣 I really enjoyed that thread.
Why is a marmalade cake recipe bad?
Any one able to give it to me please?

CaraDuneRedux · 03/02/2021 11:43

Will no-one think of the recipes?

(Wail).

I had been lurking for recipes! (And also wondered if Manchester was oj - coming to make peace) Grin

DickKerrLadies · 03/02/2021 12:07

Since when has a non-returning OP been a reason to delete a thread? How long does an OP have to be absent for before the thread gets deleted? This seems very odd. Anyone remember the Victorian safe thread where the OP never returned? I guess that should have been deleted.

Unless the real reason for deletion was the blatent goadiness of the OP, in which case, why not just say that?

DickKerrLadies · 03/02/2021 12:21

Also, considering it was only an announcement of someone joining MN (does anyone remember when Netiquette was a thing and threads saying hello I'm new were encouraged when joining a new forum/messageboard? Maybe that was never a MN thing though) it wasn't really a thread that the OP 'needed' to reply to. Obviously it would have been good manners, but on MN we know manners are subjective.

OP promised us greatness, and it truly was. Not because of the apparently non-returning OP, but because of y'know, the other MNers.

Langrycleg · 03/02/2021 18:42

Oh I am very disappointed...just returned for the recipes and it was gone. Gutted.

picklemewalnuts · 03/02/2021 18:49

The India Willoughby vs Eddie izzard one has gone, 'not in the spirit'. Disappointing.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/02/2021 19:49

Soups, marmalade cake and sausage casserole here

Been lurking on this thread for a while. Gate crashing to ask why seemingly innocuous threads like the latest epic recipe thread get deleted .. do people actually report posts ..?

midgedude · 03/02/2021 20:30

Yes people report

It's most normal that people report to try and get feminists barred

Ops who drop in to try and stir things to try and bring mn into disrepute also get stopped by hq

Not too sure what the recipe rules are , but weetabix used to be considered troll bait I think.. you are not allowed to suggest to others on the thread that the op might be trying to annoy people into posting outside the guidelines , it's poster beware.you can only report then

I tend not to report the real charmers who flout the rules with abandon as I suspect they makes lurkers raise the odd eyebrow

CaraDuneRedux · 04/02/2021 00:09

There's some spectacular (and very disturbingly creepy) mask slippage and descent into uncontrolled rage going on on Penis thread 5.

If there are any lurkers with the staying power to have made it to thread 5, their eyes must be out on stalks.

PotholeParadies · 04/02/2021 00:19

Midge, is there an in-joke or backstory that means a reference to weetabix is troll-bait? Maybe I'm being a bit thick, but I don't get it.

MaudTheInvincible · 04/02/2021 00:35

Yes CaraDuneRedux it was very revealing, I thought.

FrameyMcFrame · 04/02/2021 01:17

Just bobbing in to mention that the thread about my friend becoming not a woman has been deleted too. No explanation

Datun · 04/02/2021 02:42

@PotholeParadies

Obvious goady threads would often be characterised either by massive piss taking or recipe swaps. I guess food is a fairly universal bond.

A much admired poster called Lang Cleg caused no end of disputes over her, weetabix, banana and hot milk invention. Dubbed weetabix banana horror (WBH) by vomiting mumsnetters, the for and against arguments could be heard from space.

Eventually any mention of food in response to twattery was frowned upon as 'not being in the spirit'. And Lang was banned (although not for WBH).

I'm guessing weetabix has become something of a memorial to her as she is much missed, and therefore considered a loaded term.

picklemewalnuts · 04/02/2021 07:44

Feckin hell, when defence mechanisms become a banning matter....

Speaking of which the question thread has gone. I don't know what was happening, apart from a spectacularly unpleasant individual, as I was only part way through.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/02/2021 07:51

So annoyed the AIBU thread has gone!! It was the first time I engaged on that series of threads - spent ages tapping out those responses Angry

What a waste of time.

ArabellaScott · 04/02/2021 07:54

Which, Edge, the latest in a series in AiBU? Bugger it.

CoffeeTeaChocolate · 04/02/2021 08:07

I thought the last thread was quite uncomfortable reading. Threats about reporting and getting people banned, threats about lawsuits unless organisations caved in, general “I will do what I want and you will never be able to stop it”. Absolutely no consideration for abuse survivors, Muslim girls or women in general.

It is sad that it is gone, it was very telling.

FannyCann · 04/02/2021 08:12

I didn't go on that thread but I do find myself archiving threads that I think may end up deleted for future reference. Of course the archive is only good up to the time you do it and needs updating as the thread progresses. But I'm trying to train myself to keep those records where they seem important. Still get caught out though, the OP asked to delete an excellent thread that had involved quite a lot of time over the W/E.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/02/2021 08:17

@ArabellaScott

That's the one Arabella - thread 5.
Winesalot · 04/02/2021 08:22

Fanny I did wonder if someone archived it. I wish I did but I was so tired I was not thinking.

The tweak to the question really did cause a heightened response and outrage. There were accusations of asking the question that way to make it more emotional. Well, yes. But it also made it very clear that it could very well happen and it directed the discussion to also include men who have certain desires.

The question does not state that transwomen are all those with certain desires, but that is the assumption many angry posters drew immediately.
