Time for a new thread. Please can someone c&p the header post? (Am on phone.)

Do you mean that something piqued your interest? That particular phrase seems to be not as problematic.

NotFabulousDarling · 01/02/2021 15:52

@Winesalot I shall bear that in mind for future discussions.

I've found an email from MN now saying this was my first strike and it was the sentence about going over the hill that did it.
Will write it off to experience and try to walk more carefully next time so as not to break any eggshells.

OwBist · 01/02/2021 20:02

I was so pleased to see these threads escaping into the wild, but have stopped reading the latest one on "the question" since it became a circular echo chamber for a poster formerly of this parish. Hmm

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/02/2021 21:22

Such a boring person.

EdgeOfACoin · 02/02/2021 06:21

Mumsnet need to update the talk Guidelines to make it clear that that phrase is banned. From what I understand, a term synonymous to 'courageous and startlingly beautiful', often used in reference to mtf transitioners such as Caitlyn Jenner has also been banned.

I've said it before, but sometimes it feels like we're playing a game of Taboo on this board.

Still I think it is better to keep going on this board rather than get fed up and move to another site completely. Mumsnet has a far bigger reach than somewhere like Ovarit, which is definitely an important place but where you mainly preach to the converted.

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 08:32

Agree, Edge. I find it hard to know what is 'in the spirit' and what isn't - such a vague term. But also agree that I value MN for both the variety of visitors and a lot of the other areas of the site.

DaisiesandButtercups · 02/02/2021 09:14

Edge I agree that it is important to be here on mumsnet.

Not only for the reasons that you give but because the strict and apparently sometimes random moderation rules combined with challenging posters such as the aforementioned do mean that we really get to refine our arguments and opinions.

I’ve had a look at Ovarit and I think they could benefit from some mumsnetters sharing over there too. Mumsnetters have been refined in the fiery furnace and tested on the field of battle imo.

Collidascope · 02/02/2021 16:46

Oh, here we go again.

FannyCann · 02/02/2021 17:06

Yes. The cake never stops. I must stop indulging.

terryleather · 02/02/2021 17:07

It's very difficult not to indulge sometimes...

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 17:12

Warming winter soups:

My fave is sweet potato with green curry spices and coconut milk. Very lovely.

Winesalot · 02/02/2021 17:23

Quite an entrance.

terryleather · 02/02/2021 17:24

Narcs gonna narc...🤷🏻‍♀️

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/02/2021 17:25

I am trying, yet again, to cook a Yorkshire pudding that rises properly.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 02/02/2021 17:26

Oh, here we go again.
My my, how can I resist

I do have some trouble with those. Not having grown up with them and needing them to be gluten free.... I do love those puds.
OwBist · 02/02/2021 17:33

Are we allowed to say "plopper", or is that a banned-but-not-listed term?

terryleather · 02/02/2021 19:53

Incoming!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/02/2021 20:13

One end of the Yorkshire pud rose so high it hit the roof of the oven and burnt, the other end expanded rapidly sideways, and the middle stayed flat.

Oh well, it tasted ok. I shall persevere.

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 20:15

I think you need a superhot oven, Asking, and the fat smoking so that the whole house fills with filthy greasy black smoke. Your home will be awful and the puds magnificent.

Gcnq · 02/02/2021 20:30

Gosh that sounds divine. Once again, this has been a great evening for scrolling MN feminism chat section! Thanks
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/02/2021 21:48

The Pyrex dish was superhot, Arabella, and the pud started to rise at the edgeseven as I poured it hissing in, but it still rose all uneven-like.

Luckily I have an extractor-fan which actually does get rid of the smell of hot fat before it gets into the bedrooms.

PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 22:22

I have no idea what my email password is, so I'm reduced to guessing the reasoning for my latest deletion.

It didn't have any references to the tip of a mountain, 3-letter acronyms, or a word used for businesses that wash, dry and cut poodles. So I'm beaten.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/02/2021 10:55

You could try reporting your deleted post to put the question.

I do hope MNHQ copied the celeriac and bacon soup recipe (and others)before that thread was deleted. I'll stick it here in case anyone wants it.
Not sure why the non-return of the OP should cause a cheerful thread to be deleted.

SophocIestheFox · 03/02/2021 11:00

I know, Errol, I was really enjoying it. I mailed MNHQ to ask if it could be put back, it was a hoot! Even if it was intended as a drive-by goading.
