Time for a new thread. Please can someone c&p the header post? (Am on phone.)

Maybe it will help the mods realise that there's mischief afoot against FWR. Or maybe they'll just shake their heads disappointedly at people failing to "be kind".

Collidascope · 17/12/2020 14:52

Seeing the level of confusion and immaturity on that thread makes it even worse when you see what men like Jolyon Maugham are campaigning for.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 17/12/2020 14:57

It sounded so much like my niece when she came out. Except she was furious I wouldn't validate her and told me so.

TyroTerf · 17/12/2020 15:00

Shame it was deleted, there was an interesting comment on there about "feminine" online-speak that I was writing a reply to.

Collidascope · 17/12/2020 15:01

And the obligatory report to twitter about how transphobic MN is. All in good faith.

And there it is. All about the twatter kudos....

ColourMagic · 17/12/2020 15:10

What a manipulative tweet!

TyroTerf · 17/12/2020 15:15

And of course, with it being deleted, no one can verify the accusation of terrible transphobia.

I finished reading it about fives minutes before it was deleted. Didn't see anything transphobic. Did see some sexism, but only from the OP.

nauticant · 17/12/2020 16:26

I've got my own thoughts about that thread but because this one will be monitored and could be targeted for deletion I'm going to move on to discuss other stuff.

ArabellaScott · 17/12/2020 16:35

A good day for blinis and fizz, I say.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/12/2020 18:07

Toad-in-theHole made with beer in the batter, and cabbage-and-onion with it. Caraway seeds in the cabbage.

TartrazineCustard · 18/12/2020 15:38

It's my first day off work for the hols, so I've baked some bagels. Sesame seeds are my favourite coating for them.

DaisiesandButtercups · 18/12/2020 15:54

My DC are crazy for bagels but I have never tried baking my own.

Did they turn out well Tartrazine?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2020 16:00

Especially since with only a few posts so far there's already lol-ing.

But of course.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2020 16:01

How much beer did you put in the batter, Asking, and was it like a normal Yorkshire pudding batter with added beer?

ErrolTheDragon · 18/12/2020 16:03

Quite often I've not got a clue what you're talking about because a thread has been deleted before I've even seen it.

It induces what might be termed inverse FOMO - relief to have missed out on whatever-it-was.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2020 16:04

RAMO?

SophocIestheFox · 18/12/2020 16:12

@Ereshkigalangcleg

RAMO?
Hah! Yes.

Or maybe YOMTUB

(You only missed the usual bollocks)

nauticant · 18/12/2020 16:22

Those "let me explain you bigots" threads seem to come in 2 main flavours:

  1. a condescending voice having a male vibe;
  2. emotional manipulation coming from someone who seems young, confused, and vulnerable.

This time it was type 2). They're both hard to read but type 2) threads with a vibe of self-harm are the most disquieting.

Winesalot · 18/12/2020 16:32

I do find though that the condescending male posters have no idea that they so clearly give their sex away in their posts. It's like they don't think we have centuries of programming to recognise it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/12/2020 16:46

Yes, it's quite the tell.

ArabellaScott · 18/12/2020 17:09

Aye, totally!
ArabellaScott · 18/12/2020 17:09

mansplaining will out!

SophocIestheFox · 18/12/2020 17:50

It could be that when the science finally catches up with all of this, as we’re often told that it will, it will turn out that there’s a very specific area of the brain that’s strongly linked to patronising women about our very existence Grin

ArabellaScott · 18/12/2020 17:56

Phrenology noted a long, pendulous lump that pokes out from the top of the forehead, I believe, that was named for this function.
