I'm so unbelievably relieved.
For all the children who might have been sent down a path they later regretted and now won't, all because of a brave woman called Keira Bell.
How does this leave the charity Mermaids?

Collidascope · 01/12/2020 10:47

Well done, Keira. You're a brave, brave woman.

#Breaking Children under 16 who wish to undergo gender reassignment can only consent to having puberty blockers if they are able to understand the nature of the treatment, the High Court has said in a landmark ruling t.co/0E4U4MRl1b

Being reported as this, which actually is no change. We need details!

Igmum · 01/12/2020 10:49

Yes YES YESSSSS 🎉

laudemio · 01/12/2020 10:50

Amazing news, well done courageous Keira. 💜

Tavi want to appeal. Want to restrict access to all the case material. Judge says age and anonymity are important. Tavi claims hostile environment

EdgeOfACoin · 01/12/2020 10:51

Oh, I hope that gender critical lawyers in other common law countries can use this case too! Looking at you, Australia and USA!

Does GIDS need the courts to tell them how to stop these 'treatments' in a safe manner? Haven't they thought of that before?

teawamutu · 01/12/2020 10:52

Hope they publish the judgment.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/12/2020 10:52

K's guy says no grounds for appeal cos court has merely applied the law

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/12/2020 10:53

Tavi are trying to say it'll affect kids being treated for precocious puberty. In what world is that the same fucking thing?

calllaaalllaaammma · 01/12/2020 10:53

She won!

Suzanne Moore tweet:
:Kiera Bell has won. But there is no winning here really.
But what a loss she been through. Can we stop and think about puberty blockers and how best to support young people however they identify.

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 01/12/2020 10:53

YES! Well done Keira, you fucking shero!

No it doesn't though I know there's discussions over their use anyway.

Lordamighty · 01/12/2020 10:53

The thoughts of Keira losing this were too awful to contemplate. Thank you Keira for being so brave & to your team who made it happen.

gardenbird48 · 01/12/2020 10:53

apparently no grounds for Tavi's appeal as court has merely applied the law

gardenbird48 · 01/12/2020 10:54

sorry cross post - i hope Keira gets awarded costs.

MammothMashup · 01/12/2020 10:55

Baroness Nicholson will meet with her tomorrow

littlbrowndog · 01/12/2020 10:55
