I see that the previous post with this title has been deleted because it was deemed to be ‘fundraising’ and broke MN Guidelines against this. Can this be a thread where we can discuss the total fucking injustice of having a Scottish Government funded body with Scottish Government funded lawyers opposing a grass roots Women’s organisation who wish to oppose the Scottish Government’s attempts to redefine the word ‘woman’. Please?

I think it needs discussing. It’s too important. And let’s not have any mention or attempt to talk about raising any funds for any organisation otherwise this will disappear too Angry

The fact that taxpayer's money is being used to strip women of their rights is completely abhorrent to me. Gilead.

me to - we're underpaid as well... so with the sex pay gap we are doubly discriminated against

STA are probably furious that they are getting stick for wanting to make sure that men going to see the Rocky Horror Show have protection in law denied to women.

The Public Boards Act actually discriminates against NB or trans-identified females, it's pretty clear which sex class is having their interests being looked out for.

Giving this a bump (& another shovel)

I don’t understand how this can ever be seen as anything but an utter betrayal of women

fatblackcatspaw · 28/11/2020 12:26

I'm asking for a refund from Engender as its 'faulty goods not as described' and the refund will go to fWS

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 12:34

Bumping

RummidgeGeneral · 28/11/2020 12:44

Thanks for this. Donated to crowd funder.

fatblackcatspaw · 28/11/2020 14:46

Thanks RummidgeGeneral

fatblackcatspaw · 29/11/2020 15:08

bumpette

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 29/11/2020 20:40

@Sillydoggy

I’ll tell you for nothing that I think it’s horribly unreasonable that FWS have to crowdfund for the Judicial review and Scottish Trans just use their government handout.
I couldn’t agree more.

The same is true of all this in a wider sense - all these trans rights lobby groups across the UK being funded by taxpayers to campaign to erase women’s rights.

It sickens me.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 29/11/2020 20:47

@littlbrowndog

Here
From that letter: blah blah “intrusive” process (to acquire a GRC.

Tell me, how many disabled people can get disability benefits and blue badges just by self declaring a disability?

Actually, how many disabled people have to jump through seven kinds of hoops just to get what they’re entitled to, and how many get turned down regardless?

Why are “intrusive” processes legitimate for one group of (vulnerable, marginalised) people to prevent fraud and abuse of the system, but when it comes to another group, no amount of intrusion can be tolerated?

PurpleHoodie · 02/12/2020 05:58

Bumpy McBumpy.

MaudTheInvincible · 02/12/2020 08:52

Bump. It's such bollocks that we have to do this; it's like a tax on womanhood Hmm.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/12/2020 14:36

Bump again

fatblackcatspaw · 03/12/2020 17:08

fatblackcatspaw · 03/12/2020 17:13

howonearthdidwegethere · 03/12/2020 21:43

So, let me get this straight: I've paid my taxes so the Scottish Government can strip me of my rights by redefining 'woman' in law.

Now they're being challenged, and so my taxes are being used to pay for some very expensive lawyers to defend this dismantling of my rights.

And now a 'charity' comes along that is almost entirely funded by the Scottish Government so more of my taxes are being used to defend this dismantling of my rights.

Am I missing something here????

fatblackcatspaw · 03/12/2020 22:05

nope

No it’s a perfect description Sad
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/12/2020 12:59

Just bumping this. It has been confirmed that the Government funded bodies Engender / Scottish Trans Alliance have been given permission to intervene.

This will bump up FWS costs if anyone can manage some digging.

Manderleyagain · 06/01/2021 13:59

Was this judicial review supposed to be happening today and tomorrow? Or have I remembered wrong?

MichelleofzeResistance · 06/01/2021 14:02

The fact that taxpayer's money is being used to strip women of their rights is completely abhorrent to me.

Exactly. Me too.

And when I think that the government are paying a male led, male focused organisation to stop female people having access to law to stand up to this injustice - in part just by making it too expensive to use the law of the land?

Any sympathy or interest I had for anything this group stand for is long, long gone.
