Glad to see Nadia Whittome getting her sorry ass ratioed on Twitter as well. The complete and utter disrespect she and the others have shown is just breathtaking.

Not surprised about that West Yorkshire Police tweet, they don't even bother hiding their misogyny, they might as well just tweet 'WE HATE WOMEN' and be done with it.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2020 22:26

They chose that today?
Any other day, as part of a mix with the statistically more common violence by men on women- fine. But not today. So disrespectful to all the abused and murdered women.

Kettlingur · 25/11/2020 22:26

I am so fucking disappointed at Olivia Colman.

VulvaPerson · 25/11/2020 22:33

[quote Imnobody4]And West Yorkshire Police lead with this.

Jesus fucking christ, I really do think they are trolling women now. This is just vile tbh. Yes, some men suffer domestic abuse too. But that picture, today, and after all the misogyny WYP have been involved in this year too..just unbelievable really

ArabellaScott · 25/11/2020 22:51

well done, Inebriati. An MP shared this shit. It's insupportable.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 25/11/2020 22:56

For a young helpful shop assistant who always had a friendly word and a smile, until some shit man had a fun night out killing her and dumping her body like litter. Many people missed you. You deserved so much more life and happiness.

littlbrowndog · 25/11/2020 22:59

Trolling women today as has a Labour mp.

Hurting the relatives and friends of women who were murdered by men on today off all days

Be ashamed all who signed that letter

Be ashamed

andyoldlabour · 25/11/2020 23:06

From Australia, the tireless work of Sherele Moody.

“Welcome to The RED HEART Campaign’s Memorial to Women and Children Lost to Violence.

This Memorial is designed to commemorate lives lost while providing a respectful interactive forum highlighting the impact of violence on our community.

It tracks every known Australian woman and child killed as a result of murder, manslaughter or neglect.”

It seems fitting that this coincided with the release of Kylie Moore-Gilbert from Iranian prison. Her story was hard to read tbh. Sentenced to ten years for apparently refusing to spy on behalf of the Iranian government (she is a British/Australian professor of Islamic Studies) and the government not seemingly doing much despite her being beaten and starved in prison for two years.

moptophairshop · 26/11/2020 07:16

Flowers for all the female victims and survivors of sex-based violence.

Our school receives reports from the police if a household has had any police-related incidents. It was heartbreaking over lockdown to see the number of domestic violence cases surge. We did everything possible to support but I was also acutely aware of the families who weren't reporting incidents despite knowing they were no doubt happening.

Regarding those celebrities who chose yesterday, of all the days, to post that open letter I don't know where to begin. In the desperate need to appear inclusive they intentionally excluded entire groups of women who have and are suffering sex-based violence. There was nothing to stop that letter calling out against violence towards all women yet they chose only to speak of one specific group of people. Are they really that ignorant that they don't realise how much their silence hurts? Those families where women are so utterly afraid to speak out - they need to hear that help is out there. They need voices of support. What they don't need is being told that other (male) needs are greater. It's disgusting.

There was nothing to stop that letter calling out against violence towards all women yet they chose only to speak of one specific group of people.

They chose to speak ONLY about men.

On a day to highlight violence against women and girls they thought, sod that, a group of men are more important.

OhHolyJesus · 26/11/2020 07:50

Could we gather a list of those who did big up their social media posts on trans awareness but failed to colour everything in suffragette colours for women yesterday and write to them?

They could make up for it on IWD day 2021...

Just a suggestion. Thoughts?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 26/11/2020 07:54

Yes. I suppose such days do bring the weasels out into the daylight.

gardenbird48 · 26/11/2020 08:11

On the plus side, apparently Amnesty are getting the pushback they deserve - one lady received a 45 minute call in an effort to get her to return as a donor (she told them why she was leaving) and they said they are getting the same feedback again and again.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 26/11/2020 08:12

Good. They really have lost the plot and I suppose it highlights the world order... Some people disappoint more bitterly than others.

Moondust001 · 26/11/2020 08:13

I rarely, as a feminist, post anything on these boards here because there seems to be only one definition of feminism accepted. And it isn't one that I recognise, where womens rights represents so much bigotry and hatred. But it did make me fall over laughing that so many people are criticising everyone else for noticing / not noticing this day, when most people here including the OP have only just noticed something that has been celebrated across the world for over 20 years! The UN didn't "just notice" women - you all just noticed that you are not the only people in the world to have views and opinions about womens rights, nor that yours are the only true and correct way to think.

The Mirabel sisters - Las Mariposas - died for a better world, and I think they'd be pretty disgusted by the use of "their remembrance" being used to justify bigotry and hatred of anyone. And if you don't know what they have to do with anything, you need to brush up on your feminism, because it didn't start, and it won't finish, with the narrow minded views of come-by-latelys commonly expressed on this board.

Moondust001 · 26/11/2020 08:14

Ans BTW - Leeds City Council has been promoting and celebrating 25th November for many years! Unlike people here who didn't even notice it existed.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 26/11/2020 08:17

So what are your fundamental tenents of your feminism? I’m an 80s vintage (with 60/70s influences from female relatives).

SophocIestheFox · 26/11/2020 08:21

Genuine question, moondust - how do you know that the OP only just noticed the 16 days of activism? I can’t see where she mentions that.

On a more general note, a lot of women’s eyes have been opened recently by the debate, and there is definitely a resurgence of interest in feminism of late that we haven’t seen in years. I see it as a positive that more women are getting involved, but maybe you don’t, if they’re not doing it “right”. I’m less interested in scolding than I am in engaging, more joy over one lost sheep and all that. Again, perhaps you think I’m doing it wrong, too, it I’ve had a lot of that over the last thirty odd years, usually when I’m getting shit done, it has to be said.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2020 08:24

Hm, someone there who hasn't been on these boards on 25th nov in previous years it seems. No, many of us here haven't 'just noticed' this. But don't let that stand in the way of a sour lecture.Hmm

testing987654321 · 26/11/2020 08:36

Leeds City Council has been promoting and celebrating 25th November for many years!

But their actions are to host an on-street prostitution zone. I'd rather they helped women to live safer lives than encouraged men to treat them as objects.

Is that the kind of hateful bigotry which your feminism disagrees with?
