I think (having skim read the comments so far) that this reflects how lazy the media is. In fact 25th November has been used by many women's organisations to stand up for the rights of women not to live a live in fear of male violence.
And it wouldn't take them hard to report on the work of these women's groups instead of empty gestures by big organisations.
More worrying is that more women aren't aware of not just the 25th November that that it is the start of 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women. (And yes some people did start talking about gender without realising it was part of the trans agenda).

Although White Ribbon Day was meant to be specifically about men showing that they were taking a stand against male violence - hence the White Ribbon Campaign which was briefly trendy with football clubs but I think has fallen off the posture agenda. www.whiteribbon.org.uk/
