Apologies if this had already been discussed as the tweet is from 25th October but I couldn’t see a thread already. ‘Vulva people’!! WTF

Time to put your scold's bridle on Winesalot

Winesalot · 05/11/2020 11:15

Yes, I was getting a bit vocal wasn't I. Something that a Vulva Person can do but not all 'vulva owners'.

Although a scold's bridle is appropriate if you get my 'can never be stated' meaning.

MaudTheInvincible · 05/11/2020 11:17

Do you think terms like Bollock Wearers should be hyphenated? I'll have to dig my mhra style guide out.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 05/11/2020 11:17

"uterus holder"?? Wtf? And now I have an image in my head of a car accessory next to the cup and phone holders. Halloween Envy not envy

MaudTheInvincible · 05/11/2020 11:18

Indeed. Mustn't be said though. Shhh ...

ErrolTheDragon · 05/11/2020 11:19
  • Should we start a thread simply listing the used (and referenced with a pic of the reference) of the terms we see used instead of women and and a thread that details the same but for men (links to each thread referenced in each OP)?

The second thread would be a bit short, wouldn't it? Has anyone come across any examples at all?

VulvaPerson · 05/11/2020 11:20

@MichelleofzeResistance

And if there was a women's space, and a vulva person's space, I'd really like to hear the justification for identifying into the vulva person's space.
The penis people are being nasty?

VulvaPerson · 05/11/2020 11:22

@Winesalot

Joking aside, can you imagine turning to your daughter and saying "you're such a brilliant vulva person!" ?

Maybe I should try it on my teenage vulva person. So far, none of my other arguments against inclusive language dehumanising women has made any difference.

This has me quite tempted to greet DSD with 'hi vulva person, have you had a good day at school?' when she returns.

Shes 15. And aware of all this nonsense.

DH may never be able to get his eyebrow back down though, given his reaction to penis people this mrning Grin

BrassicaRabbit · 05/11/2020 11:23

Why on earth was ruffle's post deleted?

Winesalot · 05/11/2020 11:24

Not yet. Although I am now using p people to see if I can get the message across to those thinking it is merely inclusive. I am getting deletions, maybe it is not so inclusive?

Either way, I am sure that the stark lack of alternatives appearing on the thread will maybe highlight just who this dehumanising language effects and why.

VulvaPerson · 05/11/2020 11:24

I vote no to uterus holder. All the nopes in nopesville.

So naturally that will be our new designation.

MichelleofzeResistance · 05/11/2020 11:26

A uterus holder sounds like a gadget for the car.

No, I don't hold a uterus or see anyone else holding a uterus and we have all the usual bull about not all vulva people have (or hold) uteruses which means you have to change your wokelabel or have a number of them like club membership cards when your body evolves in the unique way that the half the human race born vulva people's do, even if they choose not to call themselves vulva people.

Vulva people does it.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 05/11/2020 12:05

One would wonder why some are getting posts deleted. One would wonder why some are capitulating when vulva people are constantly under attack.

Think on nonbirthingpartnernet.

We aren’t being hateful here.

What is hateful is reducing women to body parts.

Someone mentioned upthread that some wouldn’t be happy until we are addressed only as cunts.

Although I find cuntsnet kind of snappy, I’m not sure it fits the bill for advertising purposes.

I wonder why it is ok to mute vulva people when all we want is recognition that we are women. Not this or that women. Not body parts women.

Just, you know, women.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 05/11/2020 12:39

Remember what they used to say of that revolting type of misogynistic male who referred to women as 'walking cunts?'

It was they who were previously seen as personae non grata. How can this kind of offensive, dehumanising of half the populous - the reduction of them to a set of genitalia - have ever become legitimized?

(Of course I know how, but I'm still open-mouthed over the ease and speed at which this transition took place. 20th century feminism seemed to have made an impact - once).

Winesalot · 05/11/2020 12:48

MarieIVanArkleStinks

It does make me quite incredulous too. However, I picked up on women self objectifying themselves on media as being relevant early on. If women were happy to do this to succeed, it certainly lowers the boundaries to accepting this dehumanising language too.

Although, to be fair, there are many people not on social media or not seeing this style of content and they really think that this is not such a big issue. Until they start seeing in the mainstream that is.

TheElementsOfMedical · 05/11/2020 13:53

This thread is very instructive.

It looks like, if we Vulva People are enthusiastically and humorously embracing the imposed moniker, it causes upset/disapproval/deletion from the Wokerati.

Which rather suggests that if we Vulva People were to enthusiastically enthusiastically and humorously embrace any other imposed moniker (e.g. Uterus Driver or Menstrual Dripper or Cervix Operator) then that too would magically become subject to upset/disapproval/deletion from the Wokerati.

Almost like the aim of all these imposed monikers had been to cause distress to we Vulva People, rather than any special caring inclusivitive diversifical sensitivity.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 05/11/2020 14:51

You may have it there.

If we get upset then we can be deemed hysterical, not to be relied upon, deranged and somewhat lesser members of society.

To think it a bit of a hoot? We are being disrespectful to our betters.

How very dare we.

But let us get this straight wokerati. You are most certainly not being inclusive. So don’t kid on.

yourhairiswinterfire · 05/11/2020 15:03

A uterus holder, you say? Like those cup holders in chairs and cars?

I could do with a uterus holder for when I get my bastard period. Just plonk my uterus in the holder whilst it does it's thing, then pop it back in when it's over. Where can I get my hands on one?

Of course it was. But I'm very much liking Bollock Wearer. Oh, yes. Has a definite ring Halo

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 05/11/2020 17:28

Foreskin accessory.

Testes swinger.

doadeer · 05/11/2020 18:15

It's interesting because when it comes to ethnicity, people are now coming to understand that saying "I don't see colour" ignores and negates the experiences of those suffering prejudice or racism as a result of their skin colour. It fails to factor in their struggles.

But essentially this is what's being asked of women. We will remove any language that defines you. Therefore ensuring you can't fight back against prejudice. It also ensures that women are spending their time fighting against the basic "privilege" to be called a "woman" instead of the many many many forms of discrimination we face.

I find it very scary.

doadeer · 05/11/2020 18:16

Sorry meant to say fighting for the basic privilege

You get what I meant!
