Apologies if this had already been discussed as the tweet is from 25th October but I couldn’t see a thread already. ‘Vulva people’!! WTF

My favourite reply is the rebranding of superheroes 😂

How many trans men have EVER given birth? Surely just a handful in the whole of human history. Why do we need to change the word women to include that number, compared to every woman ever who has ever given birth or ever will?

Malahaha · 09/11/2020 09:33

@littlbrowndog

And globally ethnic minority women would be the majority in their own countries 🤷‍♀️
That's something that always annoys me. I'm from a country where about 98% of the population is some shade of brown or black. And yet they term "minority" is always applied to us, even in the same sentence as "globally". Angry
littlbrowndog · 09/11/2020 09:36

Yeah malahala so true

SittingAround1 · 09/11/2020 09:37

White people are a minority globally.

littlbrowndog · 09/11/2020 09:38

Sorry I used the word women there. 🤦‍♀️

This.

I came across a video online, it was a talk at a midwifery conference, RCM, I think. The talk was about the importance of using inclusive language in maternity services. There were lots of the usual statistics about mental health and experience of hate crime in the trans community, crucially no statistics on the number of pregnancies and births in transmen or NB people in 2019 in the UK.

I am wondering how many women give birth each year who find the new “inclusive” language confusing or alienating or if you are a GC feminist maybe even intimidating?

DaisiesandButtercups · 09/11/2020 11:48

Also are urologists also hearing conference speeches and reading articles in their journals about the importance of inclusive language in urology?

'Black birthing bodies' is awful Angry

Seriously? My dog was a black birthing body, ffs.

They haven't even got the decency to refer to black women as PEOPLE, the absolute fuckers.

Surely, surely, "black birthing bodies" will p* trans a few people? (not sure if that word is allowed.)
Delphinium20 · 09/11/2020 18:39

Did anyone ask women?

Nope. The hypocrisy of it all just blows my mind. A very small % of the population wants words to change to define the rest of the world in relation to this very small group of people.

Antibles · 09/11/2020 22:30

@littlbrowndog

We have a new racist and dehumanising of women. Don’t even show her face like she is just a nothing
That is truly offensive. Black birthing bodies, not even people now, and no head?? Angry
nepeta · 10/11/2020 03:56

Those Harvard tweets are such a perfect example of the terrible sexism of the trans activism. It is only the female sex that is being erased and made impossible to even mention which means that most types of feminism will become at least much less effective if not impossible. But the male sex is not touched at all, so that men won't start fighting this takeover.

nepeta · 10/11/2020 03:57

I am now thinking of all the books that will be written about great vulva persons in history and about how vulva people got their rights. Except, of course, the great vulva persons in history were really at least nonbinary if not trans men.

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 11:01

Love this woman talking.
