thepostmillennial.com/jessica-yaniv-files-human-rights-complaint-against-beauty-pageant-for-not-letting-her-compete

Yaniv wants $10k

the pageant's policy, will only allow biological females, or "fully transitioned" TW with no male genitals

..or maybe a reality tv show. Seems to be the type the like to watch.

NRatched · 27/10/2020 13:59

@IwishNothingButTheBestForYou2

.. There’s also a Miss Transgender UK competition..

Jings! That came as a surprise. (A very pleasant one.)

Just had a quick google, there's vids you can watch. I say pleasantly surprised because isn't it great that transwomen have their own competition?

Sporting bodies take note.

How incredibly progressive. Of course, its not enough though as they have to be able to take over the women/girls competition also. Because they are women. Tranwomen when its about their own things, but women when its about other peoples things.
NRatched · 27/10/2020 14:00

Again 'they' does not mean all transwomen.

Getting annoyed with all the qualifications which should be obvious, but here we are!

Oxyiz · 27/10/2020 14:50

Sorry - where's our resident TRA of the month jj in all this?

Shouldn't he be here telling us all that this never happens, there are no creeps out there, etc etc?

Or is it just the grieving mums / women's boundaries threads he enjoys taking over?

Joisanofthedales · 27/10/2020 14:53

Oxyiz. I think you know the answer to that.

Palindromic · 27/10/2020 15:17

I know I’m hung up on the money. But how is Yaniv’s dignity worth 10K, when the whole world knows how deeply committed Yaniv is to having Yaniv’s balls waxed?

nepeta · 27/10/2020 15:21

Weird that Jessica hasn't been published in the New York Times. They have repeatedly published Veronica Ivy aka Rachel McKinnon and they have also published Andrea Chu (who argues that being a woman means enjoying being degraded).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/10/2020 15:22

Worryingly, the other TW has said on Twitter that they will withdraw if JY enters the competition.

Maybe they merely don't want to end up damned by association? I would certainly feel that I didn't want to get drawn into the madness.

Gotta pay the instalments on the car, right?

FindTheTruth · 27/10/2020 15:37

the women only won in the previous court case, because they had not been trained to wax scrotums

omg, that's horrifying

There’s also a Miss Transgender UK competition

I wonder what would have if a woman tried to enter? Would they bar her arguing that a woman is NOT a trans woman?

KenDodd · 27/10/2020 15:42

Because if trans woman are women, then surely a women is a trans woman?

PasstheBucket89 · 27/10/2020 15:44

You gotta love it,, she thinks even junk non withstanding she should be in a beauty pageant 😂, they are for beautiful people clues in the name, more front than a cruise liner.

Whatwouldscullydo · 27/10/2020 16:22

Shouldn't he be here telling us all that this never happens, there are no creeps out there, etc etc

Safeguards should be in place
Bad behaviour not tolerated
Something about organisers being happy with their policies....

Others shouldn't he looking at their body parts if they didn't consent.. etc etc etc

They are noticeable by their absence when there is absolutely no getting out of the danger involved is there...

Well there's still mental instability to discuss suppose but they with it enough to know who to target and how and when to call.police etc

Manderleyagain · 27/10/2020 16:24

I'm not sure that the court will be able to find against Yaniv. I can't think what arguments would be accepted by the court as allowing a beauty pageant to exclude someone who identifies as female, on the basis of their genitalia. I'm just basing this on what I know of Yaniv's previous cases, and the situation in Canadian prisons. I hope the whole thing receives some really good coverage.

MissMarplesGlove · 27/10/2020 16:25

I like your logic, @KenDodd (worthy of your namesake). Who wants to sponsor me for Miss TransgenderUK? I'm sure the organisers will be inclusive and treat my lack of male genitalia with kindness.

DeaconBoo · 27/10/2020 16:50

Because if trans woman are women, then surely a women is a trans woman?

This is poor logic. Same as saying "If women are human, surely humans are women?"

It's the fact that there is no definition of trans woman (if you deny the existence of sex) that means women can identify as trans women too. Or perhaps there is a definition of trans woman but it would mean saying that by definition they are born biologically male, which can be a contentious thing to say.

NRatched · 27/10/2020 17:49

I agree with this, and datuns post upthread also.

I think he could win this one.

Meowza74 · 27/10/2020 19:34

Absolute bag of shite is Yaniv.

Joisanofthedales · 27/10/2020 19:38

Totally agree Meowza74

MichelleofzeResistance · 27/10/2020 20:06

From memory, the women only won in the previous court case, because they had not been trained to wax scrotums. It wasn't about whether it was acceptable or not. Just about whether they had the correct training.

Again from memory, it appeared that the judge grabbed onto that top layer issue with great relief that it could all stop there and so there was no need to dig down into much, much more contentious issues that would have raised one hell of a lot of questions about the law, and quite possibly ended with a verdict that hurled spanners into the national woke strategy.

This time they may be forced to unpack all of this a lot more thoroughly.

BenoneBeauty · 27/10/2020 20:10

Also totally agree @Meowza74

Orcus · 27/10/2020 20:12

@DeaconBoo

What Jessica Yaniv looks like is irrelevant, even in the context of a beauty pageant, in terms of the case they are bringing. There are a million things worse to criticise JY for than JY's looks. I'm a bit taken aback that so many people here prefer to slag off someone's appearance, to be honest. They could look like Keira Knightley and they'd still be the same person.

It is an interesting case as the organisers have drawn a line that many people seem to draw in their own contexts. Yet should there be such incentives for having major surgery?

I think Yaniv's appearance is important in the wider context of the level of delusion and entitlement here. Let's say the law is indeed on his side (I understand it's ok to use male pronouns on here about actual predators) and anyone IDing as a woman should legally be allowed in. I'd still bet the hole in my arse that no natal female as far removed as he is from the beauty standards for, well, anything would have the guts to expose herself to the scrutiny of a beauty pageant. Because she would know what would happen if she did. It speaks volumes that Yaniv would think this was his level.

So I think there's a point to be made there about male socialisation, the arrogance of a mediocre male etc. In the same way as some men feel entitled to the attention of beautiful women: this is a variant on that same theme. I'm not suggesting it's top of the list of things to be critical of Yaniv for, but I think it's rather telling. I can't ever think of a trans man having done something like this. Female socialisation takes care of that!

PotholeParadies · 27/10/2020 20:24

Famous last words- there is one trans man competing for Mr Gay England. The individual has made it through to the finals and I fully expect that he will win.

CaraDuneRedux · 27/10/2020 20:25

You're a better woman than I, Deacon.

Personally I have been laughing like a drain at the thought of Yaniv, who (whichever "gendah" he is presenting as at the time - NB using "he" because anyone who fantasises online about wanting to help young girls insert their first tampon is a male sexual predator) looks like he hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down - that Yaniv, sueing a beauty pageant for his human right to enter.

If it was used as the plot of the next Borat film, you'd think it was too far fetched.
