@SusannaSpider

Looks like the Twitter thread has gone.
No, it's still there. (I don't know why, twitter threads hardly ever seem to load for me first time, I nearly always have to hit the reload symbol.)
ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2020 10:31

@FairFridaythe13th

Maybe it was just spotted.
Yes, but now there's a flood of replies.
FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 10:32

Chips? In my memory it was a tampon... I’m sure some people have nostrils large enough for a tampon.

Smellbellina · 24/10/2020 10:35

I feel sorry for the invisible trans men in all of this, funny how it’s always about trans women and trans men (who I think this applies to far more than trans women) are largely ignored. Oh I wonder why that could possibly be..? Hmm

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 10:37

I’m sure the majority just get on with life and buy the bloody tampons when needed.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 24/10/2020 10:38

Fact: Not all women have periods

And we know they don’t mean pregnant women...breastfeeding women...post menopausal women... etc and women like me who should menstruate, but can’t for medical reasons and who always understood only women have periods and doesn’t take away my womanhood or transmen.

They mean men.

Any pretence that this is being kind to TM is at best - utterly naive. If they were - men’s products /literature would be changed - but it never is...

A bit like that perhaps they can actually really tell the difference between men and women.

It’s all about the menz...

Suzanne Moore's tweeted it. Trending, I see.

Are they going for the "all publicity is good publicity" marketing model?

movingonup20 · 24/10/2020 11:05

@SquirrelFan

I buy Aldi own brand, saves a fortune

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/10/2020 11:13

I use a menstrual cup off eBay, £3 about 2 or 3 years ago. I never thought I’d get used to it but there’s helpful YouTube videos shockingly made by women 😲 who show you what to do.

Not bought any tampons etc since. If I didn’t have the cup I’d rather buy reusable sanitary towels off the Internet than give these woke brands any more money.

We don’t use any brands tested on animals which includes all of proctor and gamble et al anyway.

TheChampagneGalop · 24/10/2020 11:19

Why would a company that makes money off menstruating women be so dumb? People who bleed? They should know that menstruation isn't the same as just just bleeding. Which all humans can do.

TheChampagneGalop · 24/10/2020 11:23

I'm guessing though, with the popularity of cups and other reusable products on the rise, they have to compete but can't virtue signal about the environment. So they have to keep up with the times in another way.

ValancyRedfern · 24/10/2020 11:23

I highly recommend Lillets. They are much less leak-prone than Tampax, and their tagine is 'designed by women for women'. Body form also did that brilliant advert centering female experience.

They obviously don’t mind coming across as completely bonkers.
Deliriumoftheendless · 24/10/2020 11:26

I bought a cheap mooncup and it terrified me so much I didn’t menstruate for 3 months.

Deliriumoftheendless · 24/10/2020 11:27

@StylishCountDuckula

Those comments are amazing though! Grin You can only hope P&G are reading them and realising they've seriously misjudged their target audience. This is the push I needed to finally try a moon cup. I've been avoiding Always for a while now anyway since their horrible scented pads gave me a horrendous rash Confused

I once went for an interview for P&G and knew it wasn't for me when they asked me "if you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?" Hmm

I hope you answered “a potato.”

This comment, in conjunction with Tampax losing its grip on reality, is the final push I required to just buy another Mooncup Grin
Whatwouldscullydo · 24/10/2020 11:31

I wish they could see how dangerous this bull shit is.

Reproductive health is important to remember about.

If men are bleeding they need medical attention. If girls over 16 aren't having periods they also need to see a dr. Not just assume they are amongst the people who don't bleed.

Its not inclusive its dangerous.

I'm the same, never been so happy to have gone reusable!

'People who bleed' or biological women. women are being erased at alarming speed under the guise of 'woke' or just downright make power- tampax is just another in a long line joining in while anyone speaking against it is labelled as ignorant or bigoted. Just look at the women in Poland being tear gassed for protesting about the massive breach of their rights!

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/10/2020 11:38

transisbeautiful and no mention of women being beautiful? Literal hateful literal exclusionary literal violence right there, literally.

Being serious though, do trans people really need to be spoken to in this patronising, babyish way all the time? They're grown adults, all this 'we see you and we weaally luffs you' guff is cringey.

You can show adults that you respect them without speaking down to them in a infantile manner.

Are some Tweets blocked if you don't sign in? I ditched Twitter ages ago, but have always been able to read the links. But now I just get this message...

I'm the same, never been so happy to have gone reusable!

Its liberating isn't it. You don't realise just how shit the industry makes you feel about yourself . Do I smell is that why they are scented ? Do I have to endure the itching so I don't smell? Extra discretion...could you see the ones i was wearing before? You want to bill me extra now for a deluxe version so I dont leak or feel uncomfortable? Why aren't the good ones available for all?

Now the only dilemma I face is do I wear the whales or the bees?

Without the plastic and all the crap you dont feel sweaty or smelly or anything.

TheChampagneGalop · 24/10/2020 11:44

I also mostly use reusable items like cloth pads and a cup too btw. The great thing is that you never run out of them. Just wash and reuse. I bet the tampon companies are scared of their popularity. It won't help them to add to the erasure of the word women. So many have had enough.

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/10/2020 11:45

SusannaSpider Twitter has been really glitchy for me lately (I'm not signed in either). I have to refresh the page a couple of times before it will load properly.

Updownin · 24/10/2020 11:50

Can you still get the lillets applicators tampons?

I liked them but they are hard to find. Tampax pearl work brilliantly for me sadly.

Imnobody4 · 24/10/2020 11:51

This is exactly what I'm thinking. What do transmen actually gain from this idiocy. Are they deluded enough to think that having a period can be normalised as a human rather than a female process. Doesn't it just draw attention to the fact that they are not biological males?

Why don't I see them clamouring for toilet facilities that allow privacy for washing a mooncup, or sanitary bins in every cubicle.
I suspect they recognise it as misogyny (if there's not a lucrative advertising contract involved)
