Those comments are amazing though! Grin You can only hope P&G are reading them and realising they've seriously misjudged their target audience. This is the push I needed to finally try a moon cup. I've been avoiding Always for a while now anyway since their horrible scented pads gave me a horrendous rash Confused

I once went for an interview for P&G and knew it wasn't for me when they asked me "if you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?" Hmm

Instead of 'Earth', please call it 'planet with life on it' so as not to make the other planets feel excluded.

Thanks!

@SarahG6383

I’m confused about all the hate. Surely they are trying to include transgender men. Transgender men still bleed every month and I’m guessing here, don’t like being labelled as a woman? so I get it. So it’s including them too?
“Hate”. 😂 you wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes back in the 80s when you got your face filled in for being different not just someone disagreeing with you on Twitter.

And we thought getting rid of all that was making the world a better place. Turns out people love to play victims. Don’t know why, it’s not actually fun when it’s real hate.

keepwomensportforwomen · 24/10/2020 09:42

Is there a return address for Tampax? I feel like sending them their crap back. Will NEVER buy this brand again, neither will my dd.

AnyOldPrion · 24/10/2020 09:45

What you see here is justifiable annoyance, not hate. If this was a single event, then perhaps you’d have a point, but this is an ongoing situation where women are being pushed aside in favour of so-called “inclusivity” while men are not.

At the very least, this is sexism and it is natural that women on a feminist board would be angry because women, once again, are being treated worse than men.

Beyond that, this is a reflection of the wider situation where men are claiming to be women and demanding women’s rights. And yes, we’re angry about that too.

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 09:48

And women only being ‘allowed’ when it refers to anyone regardless or biology. The word men doesn’t get this - look at ads for men’s face razors or prostate cancer charities. Why is that ok then?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 24/10/2020 09:49

Fact: Not all women have periods
Yeah, weird starting point for a sanitary product ad. Bit like Carlsberg advertising lager by starting off with
Fact: Some people are alcoholics.

But by including transmen you exclude women with this language, you can very easily include both by saying women and others or women, transmen and others.

How many transmen do you think there are in comparison to women who buy their products?

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 09:50

And I’m sure they are in doubt of their sex so why be coy?

The tampax thread on twitter has got people discussing (and plugging) competitors' products. Grin

testing987654321 · 24/10/2020 09:53

Why have we got ourselves into a situation where women are pretending to be men? And as such, despite needing products which only women need, are demanding that these products are incorrectly marketed to men. It's a mess and the sooner we stick to using the word woman to describe women the better.

That is the real question, not why women are frustrated with this shit.

I do love those responses, "you had one job!"

Deliriumoftheendless · 24/10/2020 09:56

Also no one is saying transmen can’t buy tampons or shouldn’t use them or directing any anger at them.

Transmen may need tampons just like other women.

If they don’t like being referred to as women ok, but Tampax’s main customer base is women who are comfortable with calling themselves women. So why are we being ignored?

Men buy tampons, for wives, partners, daughters. I’ve never heard one demand they be included as a customer. Why should transmen be referred to as “people who bleed” when men’s products are referred to as “men’s”? Would transwomen be happy to be referred to as “people who ejaculate”? Go try it on Twitter. You’ll soon see proper hate, pal. No. Just women however they identify.

We’re so inclusive we can’t use the terms to define people. That’s your trans erasure. Tampax ignore transmen rather than include them. They erase the trans experience. They deny the validity of their lives.

SusannaSpider · 24/10/2020 09:56

Looks like the Twitter thread has gone.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 24/10/2020 09:57

Btw, for anyone who wants an alternative to these kinds of ‘people who bleed’ brands, my DDs and I get our pads etc from
collection.com
We started off buying because of environmental reasons and lack of fanny itch inducing perfumes, but (and I won’t pretend to have read every single sanitary product blurb) plenty of these products have Women and Girls printed all over the packaging. Even better some of them are part of a scheme where every sale contributes to a fund for provision of sanitary products for women and girls in need and in developing countries. You can also choose to add a donation at checkout.

testing987654321 · 24/10/2020 09:57

My partner has just asked if this is going to be their Gerald Ratner moment, with only men as their customers.

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 10:00

It reminds me of a fish called Wanda when the character had a tampon stuck up his nose when it was bleeding.

I also remember a male friend telling me that some men do use them when they have issues with their - er ‘back passage’ - from (oh come on use your imagination). He could have been winding me up...

Winesalot · 24/10/2020 10:09

I was surprised to see it was a tweet dated from September... did they just enable replies?

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 10:09

Maybe it was just spotted.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/10/2020 10:13

Fact: Not all women have periods. Also a fact: Not all people with periods are women. Let's celebrate the diversity of all people who bleed

So we aren’t celebrating the diversity of women who have medical issues or who are menopausal...very inclusive

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 10:15

They aren’t celebrating women at all. Just jumping on the bandwagon in the hope that any ad won’t get piled on by those whose voices seem to be the only ones that matter.

@EdgeOfACoin

Love this comment on the Friends of the Earth thread:

This bullshit is why you are now going to spend the next 72 hours arguing about the existence of women and not about saving the planet. By the end of it you’ll have blocked thousands of feminists and still think you are the good guy.

Love that

I only remember the chips. Does anyone really have a big enough nostril for a tampon?Confused
