Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

oh betty, good heavens. so please to hear that the middle one has desisted. keeping everything crossed that the right things happen at the right time for your youngest. it sounds immensely complicated and I expect you need a drink

oh and some Flowers

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2020 22:14

ThanksBetty
I'm so sorry the school was and is so shit, you surely have enough on your plate without that.

ArabellaScott · 22/10/2020 22:20

Flowers to you and your family, Betty. Hoping things go smoothly, for all of you.

CaraDuneRedux · 22/10/2020 22:20

Runs in and gives Betty a most unmumsnetty, un-socially-distanced hug (bit like Mornington Crescent, I'm invoking the counter-clockwise diagonal Barnard's Castle Manoeuvre).

Hope all goes well with littlest's treatment.

Great news re: middle betty and hopeful news re: littlest. What a time you sound like you have had Flowers Flowers

I need a smackeral of something that doesn't GAF what I call it

ArabellaScott · 22/10/2020 22:37

Islay whisky administered by fire extinguisher for me, tonight. Because it's wintry out there.

littlbrowndog · 22/10/2020 23:33

Betty 🥃

FeckTheMagicDragon · 23/10/2020 01:36

Hopeful news on littlest, wishing you all kinds of good things there, and so pleased middle one has desisted ❤️

ChattyLion · 23/10/2020 02:09

Betty Flowers wishing all of you the very best.

Betty Flowers

I’ve been off the sauce in 2020, but I would go a large hot chocolate festooned with cream and marshmallows and a massive slice of cake, please.

I’m weary of whataboutery, I’m over obfuscation, I’ve had enough of heartstring tugging pleas for kindness from people who themselves are as far from kind as can be imagined.

Radical notion for 2021: let’s be kind to women.

Now I’ve got that off my chest, back to your regularly scheduled programme of imaginary drinks: if I did drink, I would have a massive slug of Amaretto in that hot chocolate Grin

AsTreesWalking · 23/10/2020 07:15

Ooh this seems like a good place to hang out!
Must dash to work, really, but as I've been up since 3.30 getting Parkinson's husband on and off the loo, I'll just have a swift espresso, please!
Enjoy your chat, I'll stay longer next time.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2020 09:26

Welcome AsTrees, yes this is a nice place - open all hours. Sounds like you have a lot in your plate too.
I'm struck and humbled by women getting on with difficult situations without self-pity.Thanks

WarOnWomen · 23/10/2020 09:35

Eh/what/now

Hi there. I'd like a glass of plain water please, no ice but a lemon.

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2020 09:48

Radical notion for 2021: let’s be kind to women.

Hear, fucking HEAR.

War - when you say 'plain', do you mean 'tap'? I think there might be some of that melted glacial volcano water about here somewhere if you want to push the boat out.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2020 09:49

Welcome, WoW.
I'm on my morning teas. The cup that cheers but does not inebriate, as my TT DM was wont to say. Brew

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2020 09:51

The Bluestocking has lovely tap water, just the right edge of hardness.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 23/10/2020 16:56

as a long time dweller in the south east, if my tap water hasn't been through at least 2 kidneys before it gets to me it lacks bite

the only time i've wanted to buy water was when I lived in a northern city with tap water from some sort of ancient underground aquifer that no one had drunk before me. ugh

Available on tap in the Bluestocking. As is thrice kidney filtered from the South Downs Aquifer. "We're short of nowt we've got in here, tha knows."

Haha, if that water was good enough for my grandmother it's good enough for me ...

(Throwing open the door and cheering as it’s Friday!)

Afternoon all, may I pull up a chair and join you? I’d love a Sauvignon blanc please and a bag of cheese and onion crisps. I’ve really enjoyed the thread and this is my sort of bar. Cheers 🥂

SophocIestheFox · 23/10/2020 17:43

Is the whole bishop in there, or just his finger 😳
