Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Bans. Or even bangs. Both work

lol, I know! Am nowhere near those heights.

boatyard, no, I don't think knob is slang for penis over here, though I'm not an expert on all the regional usages. I just picked that up while I lived in the UK and thought it was great. Also bell-end. My husband had to explain that one to me and then I laughed and laughed...

Tequila with anything at all

But must have lime somewhere

And co op cheesy things.

Here, have a margarita. I make an exceptionally good margarita. So good they were responsible for a member of the academic staff having to make a trip to A&E back when I were a student.

Did someone say Whiskey Mac?
My Grandmother gave me the taste, coming in from the sea opposite her house she would rush up to wrap me in a towel and give me a tiny Whiskey Mac to stave off death by cold.
And as I am currently holidaying just up the creek from her house....it's true! I've gone round the bend.

@boatyardblues

Grinitch - Is knob also slang for a penis in the US?

I'm not sure it can be. When I lived in Pennsylvania, we went skiing a couple of times at a resort which rejoiced in the name Blue Knob.Grin

Bottle of Bolly please and some Lidl salt and vinegar crisps (because they taste like fish and chips for some reason and I really fancy fish and chips.)

It’s been relentless so far this week, someone definitely sent out a bat signal.

drspouse I missed that one-- direct me? I'm a mother and I'm in the mood to feel indignant.

CaraDune yikes what does it say about me that my response to that anecdote is: I really wish women could get together to talk in person again!

Fanny ok, you need to explain a Whisk(e)y Mac to us foreigners...

Errol I mean, when you live in a country that boasts Cockfosters as a Tube stop in the capital city, I think you have no grounds on which to object to any Knob-place in America. Grin

I had no objections whatever to the name, seemed quite perfect for a winter sports place, though I suppose it may have discomfited the chaps a bit.Grin

We all know there is a street in the City which rejoiced in the name Gropecunt Lane until surprisingly recently don't we? Might have fallen victim to the Victorians maybe?

Whisky Mac is as Thelnebriati prescribes - a very warming drink for cold days and snow days.

Gropecunt Lane?!?! Donald Trump’s true home! I’m sorry, but we’d rather send him over that way.

I have a deep appreciation for Anglo-Saxon language in general. When it comes to swears, it’s difficult to imagine any other language besting it! But some may equal it...

Rumour has it that the lane was euphemistically re-named Threadneedle Street...

Whisky Macs sound lovely! I'm sticking to coffee for now. Just caught up with a load of posts denigrating and gaslighting women for speaking about the increasingly dystopian atmosphere around womanhood. I'm now thoroughly fed up.

Slightly less chatty question, is anyone else feeling like they can't publicise or praise any organisation that manages to use the word "woman" in case they get jumped on?
Just found a menopause charity, linked from work (which is full on woke), but now I don't want to tweet/mention it here!

Report
MaudTheInvincible · 21/10/2020 11:12

I feel like as soon as they get noticed they'll be attacked for excluding people who are not affected by menopause. It gives us pause for thought.
