We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Just calling in as last orders being taken...have missed most of the chat but enjoying in a sober, if not very sober kind of way. Cheers to all the good women here .

I'll be sitting in the Bluestocking garden - anyone around to companionably socially distance from me?

I shall put various tapas bits on a table we can both (all visit) with covers. I'm putting the finishing touches to some vegetables, frittata etc. for now but I'll be up and down during the evening to add new bits like grilled halloumi, chorizo, or sardines.

I can offer water-ices for later.

I'll share a with you Embarrassing along with some of your lovely tapas.
As our world becomes more delusionary I need increasing amounts of alcohol to get me though on a bad day. Fortunately the weather has been lovely today, my tomatoes are thriving and my little mulberry bush that I thought had not survived the frosts has some optimistic little green leaves

It's hard isn't it AllThatisSolid ? But we have to accept that there will be setbacks. I was very heartened to read all the critical comments under the articles in the Sunday Times today and under all the articles about Laurel Hubbard in so many publications.
People are starting to see the threats to children, the bullying of everyone and the evident unfairness for women in sport. And the EHRC not daring to produce 'trans guidelines' for schools is a major win. There is a significant shift - it will take some time but the critical mass developing cannot be ignored.

Anyway - less pontificating and more Cheers.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats - I'll raid the gin collection (I know we have several as some people here like cocktails and have different preferences per season). We probably do have some rhubarb tonic (we even have one with rosemary and black olive which is going nicely with the tomato salads).

It's lovely to watch the changing light and relax in company. It feels so rare.

All the better to do it with people who understand recent disappointments and grasp the need for convivial downtimes before girding the loins and sallying forth again.

There are tiny cubes of various torrone and some small anise and almond biscuits.

Margaritas. That's what I feel like. Sweet. Because I'm unfortunately not the least bit sophisticated. Raising a glass to Maya, who is celebrating tonight. Raising a glass to all of us fighting for our rights. We'll keep on keeping on tomorrow, but tonight we can enjoy this step towards sanity being restored.

The linked Bluestocking thread was at 999 with no link to a subsequent thread. I was thinking last night we could do with reopening the pub - a few people on MrsTPs thread seemed in need of drowning their sorrows, metaphorically or otherwise.
