Coincidentally, I just got a facebook anti hate-crime ad on my Facebook. The reactions were interesting. Not 100% critical of hate crime, there was definitely plenty of support for the 'dear transphobes' message, but I would say, were I someone with an eye on the publi mood, that this quite evidently can no longer be seen as a simple, pastel-coloured easy method of virtue signalling. 
People are more and more aware of the issues, and less and less afraid to speak up. Mostly, I'm afraid, it's men speaking up on behalf of women, but when you look at the history of who has lost jobs/been attacked and threatened, it's quite starkly clear why that is.
This is a divisive and increasingly unpopular topic. The public is not buying it, Scotgov.
