Operation 'Send Flowers to Rosie Duffield'

Hi! I think we should do this!

The psychopathic, misogynistic bullying of Rosie Duffield continued today with the GMB getting a few kicks in.

By sheer coincidence, the GMB is currently embroiled in some very serious cases of sexual assault and harassment. General Secretary Tim Roache was forced out due to allegations against him just a couple of months ago. Despite this, they gave him a huge payoff and a choice of highly expensive car.

An independent report concluded that they were ‘institutionally sexist’

This is fast becoming for Starmer what the antisemitism row was to Corbyn. The bullying that Duffield is receiving is pure misogyny, and Starmer wanders around like the issue is beyond his remit. As he lets her spin in the wind, the misogynists who currently control the Labour party are trying to make her feel as isolated as possible.

This is all because she stands against an ideology that silences and bullies women, elevates mediocre men to powerful positions they do not merit and puts children on a fast track to medicalisation for life. Show her she’s not alone and show her bullies that she has the support of the vast majority of sane people in the UK.

Send flowers to her office using the following address.

Rosie Duffield

@ChaChaCha2012

If you want to do something useful, donate to a food bank. Something that actually helps children.
We can do both, or one, or neither Hmm
Kit19 · 15/10/2020 17:54

Yep astonishingly I manage to donate to charity & spend money on spadework. And now I’ll be sending flowers too!

Funny, the OP didn't say "what would be useful to help children?". Or is that just women's default job while men can spend their time doing whatever the fuck they feel like?

9years · 15/10/2020 18:01

I’ve sent a thank you email. My charitable donations are private, as usual.

RD’s stance does help children. Particularly girl children - like mine.

Caroncanta · 15/10/2020 18:06

Thanks Glinner.

Gosh, set your own thread up and ask people if they'd like to do that then. That would be more useful than hijacking someone else's thread.

RedDeerRunning · 15/10/2020 18:17

Done. Thanks Glinner.

Scout2016 · 15/10/2020 18:39

I like Bloom and Wild's flowers in a box, but does anyone know if the box will cause security problems? Sorry if that is a stupid question.

HecatesCats · 15/10/2020 18:40

If you want to do something useful donate to a food bank.

Rosie Driffield did something extremely useful when she was one of the MPs who sponsored an early day motion urging the government 'to provide a clear deadline as a matter of urgency for the publication of the review (into food bank provision) to inform a public debate on the reasons for growing demand for food aid provision in the UK.' The increasing use of food banks is something she's publicly highlighted on numerous occasions. Well done Rosie and thank you. edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/54598/department-of-work-and-pensions-review-of-food-bank-use

Thanks, Glinner

HecatesCats · 15/10/2020 18:48

Rosie Duffield obviously

Too broke to send flowers (crowdfunders) but I'll send a card.

@Scout2016 I think Bloom and Wild is ok, I'm sure all flower deliveries will be security checked.

Skyliner001 · 15/10/2020 18:51

You're alright thanks love. Waste your money if you want.

Scout2016 · 15/10/2020 18:55

Cheers @OhHolyJesus I have emailed a couple of times but I like the idea of the impact of lots of flowers arriving and it just seems so civilised in contrast to all the hate.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 15/10/2020 18:58

She spoke at a feminist conference once and was impressive. She had already faced a lot of rubbish from labour (momentum) even then.

JoodyBlue · 15/10/2020 19:05

I have sent some. I don't have a lot of money to throw about to be honest, but it was an instinctive need to say thank you and solidarity. It costs people who stand up for others personally, financially, and emotionally. I know flowers will die, but in the instant they are received it is a big fat thank you. I am not doing what Rosie is doing, at times she must feel shit. So it is nice to be able to do something nice. I know not everyone can afford to and fine, but I think it is a meaningful gesture. It is also a gesture of solidarity to Graham and it made me feel good.

heathspeedwell · 15/10/2020 19:06

This is a brilliant idea, thanks Glinner.

(And I also have a Direct Debit to my local foodbank as well as helping them out with specific items they request when demand is high.)

Rosie Duffield agrees that trans people need and deserve rights and protections. She's simply pointing out that women need sex-based rights and protections, which should exist in parallel with, and not be eliminated because of, trans provision and protection.

She, like Rowling, is a survivor of male violence, who accordingly recognises the central importance of single-sex provision for women. She's being subjected to terrifying threats for saying as much, and she doesn't have Rowling's thankfully limitless resources, either. She has openly said that she is frightened someone will kill her, and given the threats, that's not unfounded. Flowers are a minor, but sincere way in which we can thank her for that courage in standing for women, and hopefully afford her some comfort. Yet you object? Whatever happened to be kind?

Women are sending flowers to a woman being threatened with extreme violence, for suggesting that women might need spaces free of the biological class doing the threatening. It's not a charitable donation. It's a thank you for her courage in speaking out, knowing what lay in store for her when she did.

What part of that do you find confusing?

HecatesCats · 15/10/2020 19:23

Done

Bless. He wasn't asking for your permission.
Scout2016 · 15/10/2020 19:32

Done. I wonder where the delivery doors are. Be nice if a journalist got wind of all the deliveries of flowers and reported that Rosie has supporters. Fanciful thinking maybe I know!
