Operation 'Send Flowers to Rosie Duffield'

Hi! I think we should do this!

The psychopathic, misogynistic bullying of Rosie Duffield continued today with the GMB getting a few kicks in.

By sheer coincidence, the GMB is currently embroiled in some very serious cases of sexual assault and harassment. General Secretary Tim Roache was forced out due to allegations against him just a couple of months ago. Despite this, they gave him a huge payoff and a choice of highly expensive car.

An independent report concluded that they were ‘institutionally sexist’

This is fast becoming for Starmer what the antisemitism row was to Corbyn. The bullying that Duffield is receiving is pure misogyny, and Starmer wanders around like the issue is beyond his remit. As he lets her spin in the wind, the misogynists who currently control the Labour party are trying to make her feel as isolated as possible.

This is all because she stands against an ideology that silences and bullies women, elevates mediocre men to powerful positions they do not merit and puts children on a fast track to medicalisation for life. Show her she’s not alone and show her bullies that she has the support of the vast majority of sane people in the UK.

Send flowers to her office using the following address.

Can I make a suggestion? Parliament doesn't operate over the weekend so make the delivery for Monday?

sashh · 16/10/2020 10:53

Home Bargains send flowers. I've just found this out and they are cheaper than most other places if anyone is looking.

GrandmaMazur · 16/10/2020 10:58

What a lovely idea. I’ve sent some which should arrive today.

It does make me laugh how these Harry Enfield types always seem to appear on threads like this just to tell us “You don’t want to do it like that”. So helpful!

CoolYourBeansMySon · 16/10/2020 13:13

I can't afford flowers but have sent a card. Solidarity.

sashh · 16/10/2020 13:33

@CoolYourBeansMySon

I put on my message with the flowers, that for every bunch of flowers received there was at least one other woman who wanted to send them but could not afford.

SerendipitousDreams · 16/10/2020 13:46

I stand in Solidarity

Flowers and a message of support sent from Australia, will arrive Wednesday.

Great idea Glinner! Smile

[Flowers] lovely message

queenofknives · 16/10/2020 14:36

I meant Flowers! (Hope that worked!)

StandUpStraight · 16/10/2020 14:43

Sent a card just now. Cannot believe the total lack of support from her party in the face of such unhinged abuse. It’s disgusting.

nearertonature · 16/10/2020 14:59

I'm pretty sure she's rather have messages of support than loads of flowers. What a waste of money. She's bound not to keep them, she wont have enough cases. What a daft request

Oh for goodness sake. It's about the visual appeal, both to Rosie but also as a message to Keir Starmer. It's a message of thanks and also a protest to the leadership of the Labour party, for staying silent in the face of misogynistic bullying. It's a clever idea.

I have previously sent a private message to Rosie, but this is a great idea too. I've sent flowers.

Thanks Rosie and Thanks Glinner!

Yep. Keir Starmer asked people to look again at the Labour party. I have. I don't like what I see. I cannot support a political party that is not a staunch support of civilised debate. I cannot support a party that allows bullying. I cannot support a party that does not recognise women as a political class.

StandUpStraight · 16/10/2020 15:33

If you want to do something useful, donate to a food bank. Something that actually helps children.

You know, I might make another donation to Lumos while I’m at it, perhaps this one in Rosie’s honour.

andyoldlabour · 16/10/2020 16:02

A Labour lord has come out in support of RD. The opposition are quite angry. It would be good if more Labour politicians and members supported her.

madamsapple · 16/10/2020 16:06

Flowers a bit too expensive for me, so I have sent a card with pictures of flowers and also donated to the foodbank.

howonearthdidwegethere · 16/10/2020 17:17

[quote Butterer]If anyone wants to send flowers but is broke, I've a referral code for freddy's flowers which gives you a free box to send if you're a new customer (and gives me a half price box next time I use them, which is rarely, but I'm up for sending Rosie some)
Not sure it'll work, but..

Thanks for this. If I put in my credit card, I'm not giving them licence to charge me monthly for flowers am I?

Lovely idea for Rosie but surely you can have too many flowers and they will just go to waste. I can't afford it anyway but I did email her.

PurpleHoodie · 16/10/2020 17:51

Such a lovely idea.

Postcards (especially those with pictures of flowers on) would be great also. They'll pass security more quickly and are open to be read.

Other staff members will get to hear of the nice things being said.

Joanne Cheery MP was absolutely chuffed to receive postcards and - if I'm remembering correctly - displayed them in her office.

334bu · 16/10/2020 17:51

I must admit I rather like the idea of an avalanche of flowers arriving at Westminster. The visuals will be epic. However, I will have to make do with a card as For Women Scotland have gained permission for a judicial review on the Scottish Government redefining the legal meaning of woman to include any male who chooses to put a female name on their utility bills and they have an almighty hole to dig and we can't afford to lose this one.

Camdenish · 16/10/2020 17:55

Can I give some to Keir Starmer to take into work for her and save on the postage?

madamsapple · 16/10/2020 18:04

I sent flowers that should have been delivered today in the little boxes. I included a little note. I’ve never been moved to send FLOWERS to an MP but the absolutely heartbreaking treatment she’s getting - for nothing. I just wanted to show some support because if it was me I’d be in some state.
